This is the classic Jazza videos I love. No skits, just Jazza trying an art tool he’s never used before, struggling through it and ultimately making something awesome. He’s such a great generalist and it’s these type of videos that inspire you to try new creative tools. I really hope this video performs well so we can see more like this!

This is the Jazza video that I was hooked on so much to. Australian artist guy who tries new stuff, throws away the instructions, says adult jokes but quickly remembers it is supposed to be a family friendly channel and through many tries and failures gives us the masterpiece at the end. I love that Jazza has kinda become one of the go-to art grandpa advisors over the years. I also love the critique of Procreate and how they just don't explain anything. I can't tell you how many times I've had to look up basic things like gradients or how the snap-to function works/shortcuts. They're great for easier-to-access versatile art tools and are beloved for a reason, but there's a lot they just don't make clear. Great if you already know, not too great if you're new to the program.

GRANDPA? He doesn’t look all that old, I’d think of him as an uncle. I agree with you though. Procreate dreams has so many things that I just don’t understand why they didn’t include or do better. For some cases, animation assist in procreate is better than their whole animation app

I’ve been following Jazza for over 10 years, since my student days. I even spent my pocket money on one of his early tutorials, the only one I ever bought from a KZbinr. Now, as an adult, I’ve returned to drawing after a 7-year break due to a career pivot. Today, I started using Procreate to draw and animate my artistic expressions again. I found that most people who found it hard to navigate in the program all said "but it's really affordable" which is a true but a bit unfair given that even the limited tools have little to no explanation. Once you push through the constant frustration you can free your mind experimenting with all sorts of stuff though. :) I guess they couldn't call the tracks layers because in each cell you can have multiple layers. If devs see this by any chance, please give us horizontal flip to check symmetry and lasso tool 😁

I think their strongest asset is the flip-book and action mode and if they approached it as layered flip-books; meaning you could apply a mask to a group essentially, then animate that group in real-time... that should be their focus. Even the artists who did inspirational work for the program all eventually did the bulk of their work in flip-book mode. It isn't meant to be an editing software it is meant to be a animation software for digital artists who use traditional methods of art, ya know? Even Procreate is more Fresco than it is Photoshop. They added some editing tools but they shouldn't try and compete with actual editing software. It is like they tried to do both and both suffered for it. Dreams has a really steep learning curve at the moment even with video tutorials. They need to pick a direction and method and stick to it. They also need to integrate more of their original Procreate into it to complete the tech eco-system. You should send them your nit-picks, they are very open to receiving feedback from the public, especially influential professionals such as yourself. Aaron Blaise is one of my favorites, I had no idea he did the Penguin animation.

Excellent animations, Jazza! Hope you do more! 😊 I've tried a handful of other iPad animation apps and always ran into problems of limitations; like limited frame count, some not supporting sound, and no camera features. Once I saw the trailers for Procreate Dreams, I was beyond excited, especially with unlimited amount of brushes, camera functions, sound editing, and some compositing. Not gonna lie, when the reviews came in, I was a bit disappointed. The biggest misses for me was no selection tool and the inability to export a GIF. However, the feeling of Procreate Dreams does feel very organic and smooth, like animating on paper. Luckily the developers of Procreate always listen to feedback and frequently updates the app. So it may not be perfect now, but it could become the best iPad animation app in the future. Could take some time, but I'm looking forward to it!

I've used Animate, Krita, TVPaint, Maya, Blender and Spine and have dabbled in Harmony, but I just couldn't get myself over the initial hurdle of learning how to used Procreate Dreams. This may be because I don't have as much time to animate now that I'm no longer a student, but I just found that getting started with this app can be very frustrating. That's just how Apple does things, and since they're stuck on an Apple platform, Procreate is just following the framework they're given. All of Mac OS X and iOS is confusing and hidden in hundreds of menus. They put all their time into making a pretty UI they forget to make a practical UX. The window management on Mac is probably the worst part. Procreate is dropping the ball just like Apple and most Mac/iOS software does.

@@bakad5458 They’re made by SEASONED professionals who get do ANYTHING that they wish, and their work looks pretty darn professional to me ❤️‍🔥 I don’t see anything missing with ANY of it. Just because animators create short films, doesn’t mean that they’re not highly professional 🤷🏾 I’ve seen much worse, created with “so-called” better applications 🧐

@@bakad5458 Perhaps you can do MUCH better, but their work has MORE than enough detail for my taste! I’ve seen much worse created with “supposedly” better applications. In fact, I also have Toon Boom, which feels like tedious, hard labor by comparison. As an award-winning animator myself, I’m having a BALL creating a music video with PD! Even though it’s still in beta, I’d much rather work with Procreate Dreams ANY day!❤️‍🔥 But that’s just me User results may vary 🤷🏾

@@nikkim7038 when you take out the greed of wallstreet execs, and put it in the hands of your passionate creator, you get toonsquid like apps. that's the future of business, genuineness over bottome line profits, but the irony is such apps will generate more revenue than ever, because it was genuinely created by a passionate creative individual or team of individuals in it for the outcome, not the money upfront necessarily :D

@@nikkim7038there’s nothing special about it being made by one person. The developers from PC Dreams could do the same thing easily. But what they are trying to do is use very little to no RAM to run the software. Toonsquid is limited to the RAM for the amount of layers you can use or size of the canvas. That’s the challenge the developers are facing, so you can have almost infinite layers and 1mil by 1mil pixels

Gonna watch this when I come home but how fitting it was thst this video came now. Just the other day I was asking around on Threads if Procreate really is worth it...and yesh seems like it, now interesting to see what Dreams will be like.

It would be nice to see a mini series of you learning procreate and creating more refined pieces like . 1 day with procreate , 1 week , 1 month and so on or different level difficulties of animation using pro create

in my short time using dreams, i have learnt that janky techniques are the main way to edit large sections of the timeline (which is my main issue with the app), like to make the clipping layer, id make one frame, drag it out, and cut it, all before putting the actual drawing on, and then copy and paste for repetitive parts, then tweak where necessary. i believe everyone knows that this app can be one of the best going, if it just had a few things added to it, which many people have already spoken about

Thank you, i really found this video helpful and has massively inspired me with my art journey! I have only done one animation project and that was on procreate so I have been really curious about this. I'm hoping that as a beginner I won't necessarily know whats missing or not intuitive for animation software. Thank you again i cannot overstate how brilliant i found your animations and im soooo inspired to keep going! 💖

Procreate Dreams is like an abusive relationship: I'm so in love with the OG Procreate drawing experience that Dreams seems like a no brainer for me, but it lacks so many basic features you'd expect from other programs. I've done my complaining on their forums enough already, but it's a really conflicting feeling: I'm very particular about my brushes/pressure curves so working in Dreams keeps me from wasting time making things look nice and instead keeps me animating. But so many functions are missing, like looping groups, a more adjustable timeline that doesn't force me into flipbook mode, or adjustable tween curves... I'll proudly still use it, but I often won't recommend others to use it if they aren't as beholden to their brush engines like I am.

I think this is a pretty fair assessment. I love Procreate to draw, and was initially a bit disappointed with Dreams despite having looked forward to it for months - however, after a lot of trial and error (and even more researching as you did), I can see how it has the potential to simplify a lot of the complex ideas that can arise during animation. It isn't perfect and has glaring gaps, but I'm hoping those with improve over time with updates.
