Didn't expect me back so soon now did ya? Vivy Fluorite Eye's Song is an underrated gem in the Spring 2021 anime season and I wish more people could appreciate the series. There's not many single cour anime I can think of that tell a complete story but Vivy is an absolute BANGER. This video is SPOILER FREE and a lot different than my usual analysis vids and is much more on the casual side. I'm thinking of doing more of these short videos in between my analysis so that my upload rate is more regular. So do tell me if you enjoyed this kind of video and more will come in the future! Everything in this anime from the story to the animation to the development between Vivy and Matsumoto is absolutely beautiful,but what stands out is the music. Every song is so good and packed with emotion to the point that it’s hard to choose a favorite. Also it’s so refreshing to see it have such a satisfying wrapped up ending in the middle of so many anime originals that rush or/and try some bs at the end. Truly an anime that I will carry in my heart for ever

Vivy was really underrated at first and it still kind of is considering its production goodness, however you did see a wave of seasonal watchers repping Vivy as well as Gigguk's video which single-handedly doubled the anime's MAL member count. Vivy has a lot of emotional moments and I can't hear the music without feeling cathartic and it deserves props for that, it's definitely one of the best anime of the season. I'd still say Odd Taxi is the anime of the season (currently it is AOTY imho) and that it is much more underwatched.

Even now, a year later, I still can't belive Vivy is this slept on. I get that other great works came out in spring 2021, like my second favorite, 86, but I maintain to this day that Vivy is undoubtedly the best spring 2021 anime, due to it's masterful blend of visuals, action, introspection, philosophy and music. It looses to at least one other anime in each of these categories, except music IMO, but the level of quality in each of these elements, blended together creates a sort of gestalt work, that really comes together to be more than the sum of it's parts

Honestly where to begin with this anime, from the absolutely gorgeous animation done by Wit, to the wonderful story Tappei Nagatsuki and his ability to make you so invested in certain characters and arcs even if they don't last long. When I first came across this anime I was in a bit of a music/idol craze at the time so I thought this was going to be another Idol anime like so many others. I have never been more glad I was wrong about an anime 😂, I've seen this Gem a few times now and each and every time they get to the floating island sequence I still cry. Such an amazing anime and like you said, if you haven't seen it yet then you are absolutely missing out and need to watch it yesterday.

I expected nothing from this anime, but turned out I like it so much and I really got into the story and characters. Vivy and Diva development was awesome and all the sci-fi thematic is very interesting, not speaking about the art that was hands down one of the most beautiful styles I've seen. Me and my partner watched it dubbed and can I say it's fu*king amazing, I know the anime community hates dubs but I think it's the best dub I've ever watched (as someone with mild dyslexia I prefer dubs so have seen a lot of them) cube boi is voiced by Ryuji's English VA and you can tell he had so much fun with the dub he's fantastic

There's an interesting aspect about her purpose. Skynet and others are misaligned AI's. They had a purpose and interpret it in a surprising and unpleasant way, from a human perspective, or simply use it intentionally to gain their own agency. One genius thing about Vivy is, that the premise of the show is covering the same misalignment topic, but in reverse. She's not meant for saving mankind, but for singing. However, she needs her potential audience to stay alive... Lol.

I made the dumb move to binge it in one go. Vivy is best enjoyed when you have time to process each episode, and have time to recover from the emotional impact. I went in expecting a hot idol singer and great action. I got it, but the feels each episode gave me left me dead inside. It's not as impactful as Violet Evergarden, but it's close. Which is an achievement on its own.

Comparing it to a 70+ episode anime with mystery on top of mystery and way more complex character development is silly. The Archive literally grew using their knowledge... The ai are basically all dependent on it. Tappei gave multiple reasons why the second time was only back to when they didn't head over to the toak people originally. The essence of most stories like this is that you can't expect there to only be one person changing the timeline, and in fact the first time round they constantly changed it to prevent the end and the Archive changed it back to a bad conclusion. Your ending is a cheat ending and shallow as a result, this one pitted ideologies against each other for something meaningful.

My question is why would they want to destroy humanity? I mean what is the reason? What is the point? Even if they did destroy us, what's next? What do they gain from this? I as a human being can in fact kill the spiders in my basement, but why would I do that? In games and movies with this theme (Detroit become human, terminator), there is no answer to this question. I definitely will watch this anime (you convinced me enough), if my question is not answered with solid reasoning at the end, then I will consider this anime trash regardless. Because this question as you said is in the fundamentals of the plot

How did the butterfly effect not destroy the world? Why did the archive know that something was happening so try correct the future? There's always a lot of arbitrary reasons to things and if you're going to be pedantic about it, anime might not be for you since most things in anime make no logical sense. IMO watch it before you say that it's trash, you might be surprised, like I even made a video on it singing its praises since it was breathtaking even though I skipped out on it when the season was airing. Formulate opinion after your experience, not before as you're doing both you and the anime a disservice
