@@Dctctxa throwing hatchet handle shouldn’t shatter into pieces when you throw it whether you’re trying to break it or not. A crack? Sure. A split? Maybe. A break? Hopefully not. Shattering? Never.

Love the replaceable handle. Buying something I can fix if I break makes things have so much more quality and that’s why wood is usually your only option for a replaceable handle. Sick stuff

Grab the head of the axe running the handle down your arm. Wherever your elbow stops on the handle you hold it there. Advice I got from a professional axe thrower that really helped me when I was younger. I haven’t thrown since I was a kid but I remember that advice being instrumental. Just checked out your ax. Looks well made and very well thought out. I've been throwing axes and knives since I was a kid and my dad got me my first buck knife. Had to get a couple for my kids. I'm sure we'll have a lot of fun learning and teaching together as a family. Love the idea of being able to replace the handle easily. I know I broke a few while learning as a kid. Had to teach myself not having anyone to teach me, but I'm looking forward to teaching them. I'll be sure to send you a video or an email after they arrive. 👍

Most places that have throwing start around 170 inches from the base of the board which is about 14.5 ft feet from target. Keep a square body to the board and dont try to kill it. Step with non dominate foot and keep your elbows high. Biggest key is trying not to flick the wrists.

If you're over rotating choke up on the handle, don't step forward. If you're under rotating you have to choke down, and if you're already maxed out then you have to change the way you release, or if you're far enough away to get more than one revolution then you can choke up quite a bit. (So if your distance is giving you about 3 rotations, but you can't quite get the full 3 revolutions then you can increase the spin rate by choking down, or if you can't choke down you can use your wrist to get that extra quarter rotation or so, but if you're at 2.5 rotations you need to choke up to slow the rotations to 2.) Changing your distance to suit your grip is the wrong way to learn to throw axes or knives.
