Another thing I like about Momo other than her badass attitude n tactical thinking is how humble she is. Usually when a girl rejects a guy like that, they leave it at her just feeling bad n both parties brushing over the inscident, n probably she just gets a chance to defend him without needing to say sorry. But in her case, not only did she defend him, she gave him a long, earnest apology. A good person knows when to swallow their pride n i respect people like that. Also a shout out to her friends. While they teased her, u can tell they weren't mean spirited n actually thought their relationship was cute not caring that he was a geek n even felt bad she denied Okarun. They all cared he had feelings n called her out cuz of it. Love the positive, fun girl group to bits. Better than the toxic feminity Arai n her friends portrayed (at least for now). It goes ti show how the people who u surround u really tell a lot about who u are.😊

Although the author is not yet 40 years old, he loves Japanese dramas from the 1960s to 1980s, special effects, and the occult. I think anime creates new expressions by adjusting the tempo of these things. I was able to buy a T-shirt with a maneki-neko doll printed on it on Amazon lol

Something I love about Dan Da Dan and Chainsaw Man as Shonen Jump series is that their authors use the same type of narrative in story arcs with fights and all and character tropes to later use them in ways to develop their characters and turn them into something different and make them feel natural. It is true that they have had moments where they really exploit them to the maximum and we return to the usual standard but they try to be more original using narrative resources, jokes and stereotypes already established. I would really like to see and read more Shonen anime/manga like that.

The washtub falling on head is an old joke from The Drifters comedy skits back in the 80s. Another connection to Drifters, their most popular comedian played the role of the Bakatono (the Idiot Lord) in their skits, which is what granny was watching. Bakatono became a spinoff show after the Drifters comedy show (It's 8o'clock, everyone get in here!) ended. Many of The Drifters comedy skits have become popular tropes for gag bits in various Japanese medium over the decades.

One thing I adore about the series is the lack of jealousy. Momo didn’t get upset he was interacting with a girl, she was upset that the girl spoke badly of him. The fact both have experienced bullying helps them connect in their uniqueness and their refusal to change for others :)

In generaly, Momo is just such a breath of fresh air when it comes to female characters (in a romance context). She's just perfect in the way that she admits her faults and genuinely tries to understand Okarun.
