Nice job. Thanks for the eloquent reasoning why not to repin exclusively for the sake of repining. I've done a couple games with Wolfpack displays, Love 'em! Let your viewers know it's a great idea to remove the high Voltage fuse once you have converted to eliminate any shock hazard.

Great progress! I can't wait to see the playfield restoration: the Dracula series was great but this one is really one step further in terms of resurrecting pinballs! Just gorgeous!

I miss my old Lost World. Bought it for 500 and had it for a decade of little fixes here and there. Had to sell it for money and space and I never should have. Sure enough a year later the box art stencils release and more parts right along behind them.

Can you please tell me where to purchase and what the right name is of this product, the thermal grease that you used on the Bridge rectifier. Keep up the good work on bring back to life all these pinball machines from the grave. Thanks Keith

I'm not an expert on that, we just used some we had laying around, thermal grease is exactly what I always called it.

Am I crazy or did the last video show 5v coming out of the rebuilt power supply? Why is 12v needed to be modified to 5v?
@LyonsArcade5 ай бұрын
Lots of amperage, they use the 5v coming out of the power supply for all the lamps then have a separate 12v circuit that is used for 12v, and to run 5v that goes to the logic chips. So the 5v coming out of the power supply is kept separate just for the lights.
@petermichaelgreen5 ай бұрын
The goal is presumably to provide a stable 5V supply, regardless of what else is happening inside or outside the machine. oldschool regulators needed a few volts of headroom over the output voltage to maintain regulation. Then you want some more headroom on top of that so you maintain a stable voltage even if there is a supply brownout (eithether externally caused, or caused internally from switching high power loads). It's inefficient, but I guess they didn't care too much about that. The power needed for the logic boards is likely a small fraction of what is needed for solenoids/lights/displays, all of which were fed off seperate unregulated power rails.

removing the fuse so the high power does not get to the leds is good but you need to idiot proof it so whoever gets the game later does not stick a fuse in there and blow the thing all to hell
@LyonsArcade5 ай бұрын
The wire with the high voltage doesn't connect to anything on the new displays so it's o.k. either way... thank you for watching!
