Really been enjoying them, your reactions are both lovely and hilarious, and it's so nice that you let all the emotions you are experiencing out so sincerely! Keep it up! Can't believe you haven't done this already, i watch so many reactors can't keep account xD But yeah, this song is one of the 2 times you can hear Floor growling in Nightwish, if i'm not mistaken. The other is that little bit in Ghost River but it's much more prominent here. As for the next "big epic" one, well, The Poet and the Pendulum" came first, and it has a deep personal meaning for Tuomas (i'm sure someone already fill you in with this info). "The Greatest Show on Earth" is about the universe in general so much less emotional but it's moving in its own way. Musically they are both ridiculous so your choice i guess. Be ware "TPatP" tends to have copyright issues among reactors so you might want to pull some extra tricks to keep it from being blocked

If you make me choose between The poet and the pendulum, and The greatest show on earth, i 100% saying The poet and the pendulum live at Wembley arena, a few hints to this song, its about the Firing of Tarja from the band, and Tuomas having a sewered head with hes wine, almost killing himself, but in the end, he find hes shore again, and the band continue going strong.. so its a very personel song, with some hard lyrics.. can make a grown man cry.. almost..lol.. the song is divided up in parts, just as the greatest show on earth, so some of them is heavy, and some beautiful..

Marko is a bass player because his older brother pulled the rank on him on the guitar in their original band. But Marko is the one that can sing so he ended getting all the spotlight anywaysl It is just a great story of brotherly competition that gave us one of the best bass players of our lifetime who can also fucking sing. And Marko can surely play the guitar too. You will see especially if you check the Islander from Tampere live concert. ;)

Ah finally, more Nightwish! It's a smaller venue Yes, the Baltic Princess is one of the cruise ships going between Turku (Åbo) in Finland and Stockholm in Sweden, about 23 hours for the return trip. Nightwish themselves say they prefer the smaller venues, I think it was Tuomas who said "When you can smell the sweat from the audience". One more from the new album sounds like a plan, but then I say No, why just do one of "The Greatest Show..." or "The Poet..."? Do both of them! I do stress like so many others, make sure you read up on the story behind "The Poet..." before you watch it. I have seen one Reactor doing "The Poet..." as his second Nightwish song and he was very confused afterwards, "- Man, I got so many questions after watching this...". There is a lot of text in "The Poet..." so choosing a live video with lyrics might be a benefit, it's so easy to miss some of the details in it. And if I may be so bold and suggest that if you do "The Greatest Show..." first, why not take a step back and have a look at "I Wish I Had An Angel" from The End Of An Era DVD with the original vocalist Tarja. Then, when you have a look at "The Poet..." it might be easier to understand just how hard it hit Tuomas when Tarja was separated from Nightwish. As far as I understand it, this was the last song of the last concert, and right after this, backstage in the dressing room, Tarja was given her severance notice. It is speculated here and there that everyone in the band - including Tarja too - knew that this was the last performance with her. You can be fore or against Tarja but there is no doubt that she had a key role in establishing the concept of Nightwish, or The Nightwish Genre as many people say. Even if she knew that this would be her last show, as you can see for yourself - She did keep the performance at a very high professional level, all the way down to the very last note. (This link is not going to Tarja's own channel, I think it's a Fan's Tribute channel.) Cheers / B. kzbin.info/www/bejne/jqGac5ZmZbOHhMk

Regarding interviewing Floor: we'd all like that, wouldn't we? Then our poor goddess would do nothing but giving interviews all day. I don't think "Tell her about this channel" is how it works, given how many channels out there react to Nightwish. The channel that was so lucky has done a lot of metal reactions and very good, polite and knowledgeable interviews over the years, including one with former Nightwish singer Anette Olzon. They approached her and her label with an interview request, probably in a respectful tone and able to point at their portfolio, and Pedro, the interviewer, got up at three in the morning to do the interview. He was probably lucky too that Floor is holed up in quarantine in Sweden and apparently a bit bored. Normally she appears to try to ration these kinds of things rather strictly in order not to undergo another burnout (she suffered from one when she overstretched herself managing and promoting her former band ReVamp in addition to writing, rehearsing, creative design and holding down a day job).

So many comments on 'missing' Floor's growling, I look at it as you appreciate the entire band (as it should be) not just Floor. Floor does have growling and heavy vocal fry in her locker but they are not her preferred methods of delivery. For female growling (that doesn't get lost in the mix) you should look at Arch Enemy, Swedish melodic death metal. Current front Alissa White-Gluz is extremely versatile, former front Angela Gossow is the embodiment of metal. Check out 'The Day You Died' from the Tyrants of the Rising Sun dvd, Angela shows off how emotional heavy vocal distortion can be.

Great reaction. Congrats. Don’t know if you know that this small stage was on cruise ship... a total different experience to play in the middle of nowhere.... my suggestion for next songs is: The Poet And The Pendulum, after that: The Greatest Show On Earth.

Yes, "Greatest Show on Earth", but "Poet and the Pendulum" precedes that. Be sure to study the backstory first as it is autobiographical, the Wembley live video is best. Actually best versions with onscreen lyrics but think those have been taken down. Recommend a 2nd screen or phone handy with the lyrics up to follow along better as there are a few spots that voice hard to hear. There are 5 acts so can do stops to help counter any copyright issues.. Hint, and lot confused at start, first voice you hear is not Floor but Guy Elliott, boy soprano: courtesy of the Reigate St Mary's Choir School. Roller Coaster of Emotions on this one.

And that's why you react to the Wembley version and not the cruise. He didn't even notice Floor's growls.

That’s the argument I always get. Sure it’s better overall but “you can hear the growls” is all well and good when you know what you’re listening for. I have seen maybe two people react to the cruise, hear it the first time and catch the growls and everyone hears them at Wembley. Every time the comment section is then full of “you missed the growls wtf!!?” This makes Wembley better to showcase that aspect of her voice. Listen to Wembley for those growls and then for repeat listening or playlists use the cruise. That’s my two cents at least.

But the mix is better on the cruise video (apart from Floor's growls) It's also good for people to see them up close on a small stage, it's a lot more intimate. I still prefer the cruise even without Floor's growls.

Either you are just so used to the fact that Floor can do pretty much anything.....OR you missed the fact that she does the growls in the chorus! (Almost everyone misses it, Marco and Floor sync too well) If you did miss it...you're gonna need to talk about it before your next reaction!

The Poet and The Pendulum is the song where Tuomas "kills himself so he doesn't have to do it in real life" - his own words. I think that's enough to know. :p More info though : 2005, the band fired their first singer, and it got pretty brutal in the media. Tuomas was clearly suicidal/depressed as he got easily blamed for this decision of *the whole band* , highly misunderstood, and imagining the future was probably *hell* . On tour he often asks his sound engineer to turn off the vocals in his earbuds because it is too much for him. Marko and Emppu very often support him on stage during that performance, it's really nice to see. :)

The Greatest Show on Earth is much less personal. It's about the greatest show on earth - which is *life* - as in living beings. It describes where it comes from and where it goes. So the song begins with the formation of Earth (long introduction), then the appearance of Life, including animals... Then comes the Human Being of course, and he does his thing on Earth. Is it good? Is it bad? The ending of the song is basically a perspective on the future of our planet. Quite emotional if you care. I suggest to listen very carefully because SO MANY BRILLIANT DETAILS. :D Have a nice first experience with both songs, I'm a little jealous, haha.

This isn't one of my favourites... guess it's too heavy for me, but I can sure appreciate their musicianship. All the effortless transitions, just insane! Do Greatest Show on Earth next, it's amazing!!

How does everyone end up with the cruise ship version of this song ??? Do yourself a favor...watch or even react to (i would watch again to see which version you thought was the better) the Rock in ?Rio version. I always thought it was even more intense and sexy. And...Floor in those boots and then the tailfeathers...it too much...instant Floorgasem . Message from the Yeti-man.

Please do some research before going into Poet and the pendulum! It will be 100% different if you know the story behind it. It's my fav song ever, Wembley version of course! Greatest show is an amazing masterpiece but Poet just reeeaallyy touches your heart and soul

Did you notice Floor's part during the chorus? It was too low in the mix, but she was doing a growl under Marco's vocal part. You can hear it better at the Wembley show. Yes, the ultra aggressive Floor! Poet and the Pendulum.
