My son and I picked up a 57" TV on the side of the road, and went through this same process to test led's to replace the ones on the backlight that were burnt. One LED burns out and the whole backlight refuses to turn on. We were so proud of ourselves when it all worked. But the screen was ever so slightly crooked, so I took it apart one last time. Picked it up slightly to straighten it, and it snapped diagonally across the screen. 🤣 Great videos!

First I tried to play with LED PCBs I also tried with a solder iron but made an even bigger mess than you because my LEDs had pads fully underneath. I therefore bought a hotair station and it works perfectly. Plastic doesn't melt at all. Resoldering I use solder paste. I've tried to remove LEDs from an aluminum PCB with an iron underneath (I never iron clothes, so at least it got some use now), and that worked perfectly too, but underneath heat is not necessary with standard PCBs, which I think you had here. PS: I really enjoy your videos, thanks!

Talk about taking your work home with you, Stez. 😁 Initially it looked like a simple piece of electronics, but of course the simpler it is the smaller they can make it. I'd have melted those LEDs for sure. I'd have lazily replaced them with a couple of 5cm LED strips - but then where's the challenge and learning curve in that... 😝 Grand job. Those Waygo (never heard of them before, so I've probably misspelt it) are pretty cool; basically a choc block in clamp form. Enlightening. 💡 Sadly we can't drink at work; however I did play the Pocket Full Of Kryptonite album by the band sharing it's name of the pint your poured. 🍻🔉🎶
