If you ever thought things are going too smoothly for me.. Well, this tale is for you. On Community Day of Season 8, I joined a massive alliance of rag tag pirates who, at face value, had the same goal: To farm gold.
Needless to say that, the more crews you add to your alliance, the more like it is that somebody will get.. Greedy. And with an FoTD stack on the line, needless to say that temptations grew as the day went on.
This is the story of ultimate betrayal and how I lost my biggest loot stack yet. Some would even say that karma had finally caught up to me. So enjoy this very.. Painful tale.

You see that's the problem right there my friend when you set up an alliance like that everybody needs to go off and focus on their own mission. You make more money with one crew doing world events one crew doing fort of the Damned in one crew doing something else. Not by having three crews doing for the fotd. Also less risk of being betrayed if you're not working in the same area

I watched the whole 9 hour stream and the most infuriating part was your "captain," after 9 hours of camaraderie and shared hard work, not only sitting by watching your boat get destroyed by some egotistical psychopath as if it was a personal beef and his refusal to help was some grandiose and noble deed, but actively threatening you when you showed any sign of wanting to defend yourself. His actions definitely deepened my distrust of any ship equipped with DA sails. Every one of them I have encountered seems to have been cut from the same cloth.

Yeah those DA sails turn people man. Last session I was doing a gilded voyage for GH. Already made several alliances during the voyage, when one solo sloop with DA approaches me in a suspisious way. After outmanoeuvering him (I was parked at an island) he proclaimed that he wanted to touch my loot for GH emissary grade. I gave him permission to come aboard, but he kept putting his ship in a favorable position to which I answered accordingly. Losing his patience he opened fire. Well, me having had a long day/session and already fighting off other pirates, I didn't feel like it so I decided to annoy him by running. Using every bit of terrain to make cheeky moves (and him giving me some usual trash talk) I had finally put everything in my rowboat and set sail for Reaper's (even though I was flying GH). While rowing over I heard him complain that he didn't have time anymore and he scuttled. On my way to save my ship I left my rowie and went on to continue my voyage (as my ship was a long distance away already). Lady luck didn't favor me, as I saw a Reaper roll up on the hideout and going from grade I to IV real quick. I decided to engage but alas, Rare threw me the sink-gong whilst ablard the enemy ship so I thought the battle was won. However, they didn't sink for some reason and they started to recover from my initial ambush. Getting boarded by some skeleton curses and some back and forth later and I sunk, stacked and all. Gave them a gg and got one back, I told them that the rowie they supposedly found was mine and they commented on it that it was a Godsent. Didn't finish the voyage but the defeat was bittersweet.

My own most recent encounter w/ DA sails was a brig named "FORM AN ALLIANCE" with an alliance offer flag up, which should have been my second clue (the first being the half furled DA sails they sidled up with). I mean, what friendly player names their ship that, instead of naming it something fun or clever and then negotiating the alliance in person? Anyway, as soon as they got close, they said "friendly?" and me being the type that likes to have and encourage positive interactions with other players in this community, I zipped on over to say hi. While I'm distracted having a friendly chat with the two on the deck about the tall tale I'm halfway through (meaning I obviously have no loot), their helmsman scoots into a favorable position against my boat. As soon as he's got it, the two on deck immediately blast me with both their blunderbusses and then proceed to chainshot down my ship's mast, but refuse to put any holes in my boat. They proceed to triple board and kill me and my gf twice. It being abundantly clear that they didn't want loot or even to sink us (they just wanted to ego trip by spawn camping another crew, I guess...) and being outnumbered 3 to 2 by sweaty double gunners, my gf and I opted to just leave the server and go to a different one to resume our tall tale rather than allowing these idiots to waste our time. That was the final straw for me, though. I've had hundreds of positive interactions with other players, but every single one of the 12 or so sets of DA sails that I've run into has inevitably set up an ambush and opened fire. So I've decided that I'm gonna make an exception just for them and shoot first from now on. Let's see how they hold up in a fight where they don't get that initial backstab they want so badly.

Im the guy with the broken mic who was on the same ship as the "captain". The sloop had also stolen our cannonballs so there was nothing we could do. Its not like we wanted Cliff to sink, there was just nothing we could do. And I know the "captain" personally and he would never do something like that. He was always telling us to help Cliff.

Alliances can certainly get chaotic, especially since all the nametags become purple so you cant tell which players are on which crews (even more so if you have gamertags turned off). I think there's an easy solution to this, that being make the gamertags of each crew of the alliance use a different color so you could distinguish which players belonged to which crews.

That's so unfortunate. Sounds like a bunch of Cringe. Especially it being for community day. In the end, the gold is just pixels, but what really sucks is that the players decided in the end to be a bunch of screen lords. This is why no one admits to streaming their game anymore. It turns wholesome encounters into situations like these where players want to "Show off their sick PVP moves" and troll the streamer because "They're now the content" I hope they enjoyed their 15 minutes of streaming fame. Hopefully the next one will be better Cliff!

Had an Alliance backstabbing last night. I had a Reaper 5 Brig, and allied with a Lv 5 Reaper Sloop. We were stacking the Fort of the Damned when another Reaper Sloop came up and also joined the Alliance. We weren't keen on sharing and explained we had one more run at the Fort. They agreed, but 15 minutes later they attacked us. And these guys were Hourglass players. What ensued was a 2 hour guard against an Alliance betrayer who we sunk 6 times along with an enemy Reaper Brig that showed up in middle of this. We succeeded in defending and selling aside being harassed every step of the way.

That one hurts. The other day I met a guy at an outpost and he was chill but his skeleton cursed friend was a troll. Luckily I sold my little bit of loot as his jabroni friend attempted to sink my ship right after. This game would be far more fun without the toxic trolls. Long time players that are looking to troll have nothing to lose and new players have everything to lose. This is where the game starts to become stupid imo.

I got sleepball spammed by a skelly sloop as a solo sloop on my second session back from a 2+ year break from the game. I was rusty and it did not go well. I essentially survived until it went away. At least, I think it went away. I didn't see it sink as I was bailing like a mad man.

Cliff: It is confirmed that skelly sloops do NOT drop ritual skulls, in order to get them from skelly galleons you need to sink them in order for them to drop the ritual skulls, just an FYI, again, great video!

You wanna talk about bad luck solo slooping vs skeleton ships? I got one balled while cannoning. Came back to about 2 buckets worth of water and a couple holes and while repairing a cannonball came through above the map table, down the stairs and one balled me next to the water barrel while repairing a hole. I spawned back in on a new ship on a faraway island. I fought this ship right after doing a mermaid shrine 🙃 pain.

To blue light: blue light is much more common outside than in front of a screen. And does it take damage to your eyes outside? Probably no! So sh should the blue light of the screen damage your eyes. To Glasses in General: You can tell em to bring glasses like these with these criterias: AR Capabilities you should be able to do video playback, for tutorials for example or manage your peripherals or even replace your monitor. That would be pretty cool

ohh i did the same yesterday with the new white fortune chest, some rando that joined my crew told me to wait for the explosion of the kegs and then take the chest and run towards a location so he can poon me and we just went out, left the alliance also and got 30k from it, was a fun experience.

I know these tratiors They rolled up to sloop after i sunk a skeleton galleon and asked if they we could allience. I said yes, but when I was sailing away after getting all the loot 1 of them stayed on my ship and killed me when i got to outpost. Before they sold they took down there allience flag and when I respawned my ship was sunk and I was far away. After that i never trusted another player ever again.

I know the cursed skeleton ship experience, yesterday I solo fought a skelly sloop only to die during repairs. The actual moment I respawn I got cursed into sleeping, then insta-killed from a direct cannonball shot. Suffice to say I could not save my ship.
