@@МистерГлесгорв Ehhhhh, black ops cold war had some insane shit. Made up guns like the CARV (supposed to be kinda like a G11 but its a failed abortion lmao), some SMG that never existed. There were also crazy attachments that made no sense and never existed, like 12 round cylinders for a revolver without changing the caliber or being freakishly large. They also had weapons that weren't even in the prototype phase during the period the game was set in

@@minigunuser25 Cold War had mostly time accurate guns with a few fun and weird additions. The CARV although most of those can be wrote off as licensing issues leading to creativity from the team. As guns that are supposed to feel like weird 1980s prototypes go though it succeeds. Otherwise they kept it relatively accurate including having the tec-9s not just be full auto like MW2022 did a few years later.

There is nomenclature for this particular size of AR builds, they're called "Kitty Kats"

Kitty Kats are paticular to DPMS with the free float tube. The N-23 still retains the two-piece handguard, along with a modified adjustable stock that sits a little closer to the gun itself. So N-23's have a little more thought put into them just besides a 7.5 inch barrel.

The entire point of the Black Ops series is to actively involve prototypes, unfinished works, and less documented real world things into an interesting world/story. Black ops 1 had a G11, nothing has changed

​@@trickshot500This was not on purpose. Black Ops 1 was set in the 1980s until very late in development, so the weapon roster of the game is a holdover from that. There is no excuse for anachronisms in the weapon rosters of future Black Ops games and in fairness the rest have been somewhat tame compared to the first in that regard. Black Ops 6 has been the most offensive one since the first, mostly in regards to its attachments (optics especially).

I've actually built out one of these for a friend. He really liked the look of it from the design docs and I have the tools / stupidity to make such a thing. I forgot how small I had to drill the gas-port for it to run but I remember it was silly levels of small. It still had some bolt speed issues when using something a little hot like m855. Also, there is no gas-tube / handguard made for that size of gun so both had to be chopped down...which was a mother of a task but we got it done. All in all, it was a fun range toy that rattled your teeth every trigger pull.

I mean that barrel to me looks just like the original DPMS Kitty Kat. The DPMS Kitty Kat used a 7.5" barrel with a pistol length gas system. While Colt may have never made something this short, DPMS did.

I feel like this what the Colt 9MM would have been with 5.56 cartridge. The Colt 9MM itself is bit of an oddball being basically AR-15 capable of taking 9MM rounds into the chamber (kinda makes it look cursed with such small mags into M16 magwell). I do wonder why something like this was never made and adopted. Would have been perfect in close quarters still keeping it 5.56.

Those extra short AR’s don’t run well with such a short gas system. While there are 7.5” inch barrel AR’s, you shouldn’t go shorter than 10.5” for reliability and effective muzzle velocity. That is probably why that idea was scrapped.
