Hey thanks, tried this with my 5208 and it works like a charm. I even made use of the other 3 inputs for other messages, such as all clear, weather alert/emergency, and drill. I'm actually planning on buying one that has TWENTY channels on it so I can have EVEN MORE messages on the system! Only problem with this method though I'd say is that you can't have a microphone to talk through the speakers with. There might be a way of adding one, I just haven't found it.

So to silence it, you can essentially stick a relay on a silencable nac, the normally open side is connected to power input to mp3 module. When panel goes into alarm, relay will close, power will pass it with then detect the alarm relay is closed and sound. When panel is silenced, nac turns off, relay goes open cutting power to module stopping sound.

Ohh yeah, does this work with both 25v and 70v speakers?
@Aaronproductions3 жыл бұрын
Yes, but technically no; a commercial audio system like the ones meant to be used with those speakers have a transformer inside of the amplifier to boost the voltage in order to get the long distance and daisy chaining to work properly without loss - this board doesn’t have a transformer, it’s like a home grade audio amplifier or one you’d find in your car - however - it CAN drive 25/70v but you would have to have it turned up nearly all the way and you wouldn’t get as much output since it has to stress to output even a fraction as much as a transformer used on a fire alarm VE panel or pro amplifier
@CoolSimasGuy3 жыл бұрын
@@Aaronproductions Ahh okay. That’s something to note. One more question, I’m using my MS-9200UD for this project. Can I use the 9200UD relays to control the triggerable outputs or would I need CRF-300 for the outputs to function?

If you can’t figure out how it’s wired based on what i explained in the video I wouldn’t advise getting it in the first place, it’s just contact closure.

The reason why this voice evac board inside a fire alarm panel is not up to code in a real building is because a real voice evac system requires the use of buttons to play different messages, and to clearly know that the fire alarm system is voice evac with also a microphone to talk into the speakers and speaker strobes throughout the whole building
@Aaronproductions3 жыл бұрын
it’s mainly because it’s not supervised, plus it’s not UL listed for life safety. my EVAX (a real voice evac panel has no buttons… a mic isn’t necessary required either

So I noticed an issue, these boards do not like to be powered off a NAC at least on the MS9200UDLS. 2 burned up all ready. This is because of the supervisory reverse polarity. What I did was setup a relay/optocoupler module on the NAC with 2 diodes in between. This prevents the reverse polarity from burning up the module and/or triggering the relay. Then on the relay side I have resetable power going through the relay to the board with a jumper on the audio card to play upon power up. I found this is the best method sofar and is silenceable. I burned through 2 audio cards and a relay card so you guys don't have to. An explanation video will be up soon but for now this is a quick test of the setup. kzbin.info/www/bejne/ianRnGavnt6spbc
@TheCarson1164 жыл бұрын
Pretty sure you're NOT supposed to POWER the board, but instead simply short the corresponding input to make the message play. That's what I'm doing with my Silent Knight 5208: I have a relay connected to NAC 2 (the "horn NAC" as I've designated it) which in turn is connected to Input 1 on the MP3 board. When the panel goes into alarm both NAC 1 (the "strobe NAC" in my case) and NAC 2 turn on. NAC 2 powers the relay which closes, shorting Input 1 on the MP3 board and cuing it to play the fire alarm message. When the "Silence" button is pressed, NAC 2 cuts off but NAC 1 remains on, turning off the relay and stopping the MP3 board from playing the message, but allowing the strobe to keep flashing. Then everything turns off upon a reset.
@P25AES4 жыл бұрын
@@TheCarson116 problem is the nac is always powered so you will have to put a diode in line unless you have a polarized relay with reverse polarity protection. If your nac is not supervised then you will be fine.
@TheCarson1164 жыл бұрын
@@P25AES I will admit, I'm sorta confused on the way you have yours set up, but with a relay connected to a NAC the NAC power will NEVER reach the board, since you're going through the relay. (I'm using a small 24VDC relay, rather than a relay board (I don't think the 5208 even has a relay board available for it anyway)
@P25AES4 жыл бұрын
@@TheCarson116 you have supervisory power on the nac, it is reverse polarity. When the panel goes in alarm, the polarity switches and activated the devices. The setup i have works fine now although I now have an EVAX panel so no issues.
@TheCarson1164 жыл бұрын
@@P25AES I actually have the NAC supervision disabled on ALL my 5208's NACs since it'd be a pain to try and make sure the EOL resistors were always connected to the alarm(s), especially when changing it/them out. But like I said, I don't think it really matters when you're using a relay.
