Honestly, Pewds... After years of following your career through its ups and downs and changes and whatever... This is perhaps the best thing you've ever done. Not only are you actively increasing general interest in literature, but you're actually providing us with thoughtful, insightful, and critical reviews without flaw. As a scholar of literature myself, you've always got the best perspective on these books. You're doing an incredible service here, man. Keep it all up, as always

" There's two sides of the coin in life. You're gonna be happy sometimes, and you're gonna be unhappy sometimes. And you can just hope that you end up in one side more than the other. Just because you endure a lot of pain and a lot of bad behaviour, and just because you're a good person and work really hard for the things you love, that doesn't necessarily mean happiness is some sort of reward or something that's owed to you. It doesn't work like that. That's just the state of life and the balance we all have to go through." Shit this was strong pewds

I actually went to a lot of therapy due to being critical of myself, having a ficade in day to day encounters making sure to never give my mother a "shamed face" up until my early 20s. I broke down, couldn't wake up and keep up the fake persona, I just wanted to stay in my small apartment not having to proove myself to anyone. Decided to go to therapy and through that I learned that despite how I act that I never actually have control over someone's perception of me. I can try to manipulate their perception through a ficade but I can't control it. It was when I realized that the only thing I can control fully is myself that I finally stopped trying to be someone else. I finally found comfort in my own skin and no longer hated myself for not being what people wanted me to be. Gonna read the book Pewds.

Dominic Aragon you cannot possibly tell me the Felix in this video is the same person he is when he is playing games. The person he is when he plays games is over the top and trying to be funny. The person he is here isn't trying to prove anything, just talking, sharing opinions, and reviewing books. I think this is closest to the real Felix.

@@GuitarGirl4ever Felix wrote a play called Taunting The Beast under the pen name Christina Triks...which is an anagram of Christ in a skirt. Oh, PewDiePie, you naughty devil. The play is an attack on religion and the PC culture and it makes an argument that Jews & Muslims don't exist...um...check it out before its banned...and no doubt it will be. Most people know the name “Dazai Osamu” from the Bungou Stray Dogs character but allow me to give a little context to the real author. Dazai Osamu is one of the big 3 classical japanese authors. His magnum opus and last book “No Longer Human” was based on Osamu’s life of constantly being shafted by the world to be quite honest. The book is almost a huge suicide note, and we see Osamu’s fall, as he would go on to drown himself after, being his first successful suicide attempt after many attempts beforehand.

I never knew Felix was such a reader! Honestly I really enjoy these types of videos because I feel like I can see your true personality more. I feel like these are the types of videos that you would like to be making, rather than what people want you to make. A lot of people don’t understand that when you grow up, your personality can change and your interests can change. Anyway, I’m really proud of you putting yourself out there and honestly this kind of content is really inspiring me to do something similar with my own content. Dostoevsky can sometimes be boring and grim, but man, I enjoyed his works when I was younger, like The Idiot, Crime and Punishment, The Brothers Karamazov, and particularly The Possessed. He has a deep understanding of human psychology and the tragedies portrayed in his novels are in a way enjoyably comical. I find it ironic how I no longer read books and can barely watch anything longer than a sitcom.

NotATurkey dont know if you care but i really like to read books that can give you a better look in someones head. Even if it's really dark. A great writer can make it so dark but also so very realistic that sometimes it gets a bit too close. But im probably in the fase that goes like "im interested in the animal mind, human mind, how the earth works, how physics works, how the universe works." Its all just fascinating how everything works in this damn world. How this world is still functioning. I dont know but it's really fucking interesting.

These videos makes you even better, what else can we ask for? Your name was very sounded here in Spain lots of years ago, I probably check some of your videos in 2014, 2015 but not paying attention didn't have good English to understand and didn't care that much. it wasn't until 2016 I really decided to give this channel a go, see why it's the biggest and be curious about it and since then I just got addicted to your videos, they are something unique in youtube. Great personality, great humor every time let's be honest, yours isn't one of all those big channels that adapted the content to the youngest audience who is the most here in KZbin, thats probably why you are different. Actually when I read No Longer Human I recall that Horiki left the room to get food from Oba's wife but then comes back to point to Oba that his wife is being molested by a neighbor shopkeeper. I don't think Horiki actually did the crime. However, I do know that in Dazai's life that his best friend did commit adultery with his wife.

The Crime and Punishment is a really good book. It was included in my literature classes, since I studied in Russia, and it still remaines to be one of my favourites. Dostoevsky is really good at describing psychological state through different things, such as landscapes and others. I think this is the reason why I enjoyed this book so much, because it truly gives you opportunity to feel mentally sick. I think it is the statement of the Dostoevsky's talent. Btw am I the only one who noticed that Crime and Punishment a bit reminds of Death Note?

I adore Stoner. I think about it so often. There's so much hope in the book. It could so easily have been nihilistic BS in the hands of a lesser writer but it's so moving. It's about love in all forms. A love that isn't dependent on happiness that even in the absence of happiness (and in the total lack of marital love) is fulfilling and keeps a fire burning. Love for his daughter, love for literature, and living life heroically. I can't emphasize how much I fucking love that book. I don't know where you're getting these recommendations from, Pewds, but your literature club episodes blow 90% of book channels out of the water. Solid books.

A lot of people criticize the content that Pewds makes, but this is by far the most intriguing content I've seen from Felix in a long time, if not ever. The reviews are taken to a personal level and that really fascinates me and it is highly inspiring. The novels sound great, and Felix's philosophical responses and conclusions of the books really connect with audience members on a personal level. Well done, Felix.

IDK if this is weird to say or not but I realized that you read as a third person seemingly with ease, where as I see most people insert themselves into the story somehow. I think its cool that you can separate yourself from the story and observe it from an outsiders perspective without succumbing to a level of transference with the fictional characters. Just one of the many reasons why I enjoy your book reviews. Kudos Pewds.

I'll admit, I first picked up No Longer Human because I was watching Bungo Stray Dogs and I wanted to learn more about the man behind Dazai's character and I think it was one of the best choices I've ever made. The story is written in such a unique and beautiful way compared to other books that I've read. The way that Dazai describes how Oba feels is so raw and unfiltered yet eloquent and meaningful. Plus, for me personally, there are some segments of the book and Oba's character that I can really relate to in a way that I've never seen done in any other works that I've read. Especially regarding anxiety, putting on a mask, and desperately trying to please those around him to fit in. Of course there are also many parts of his character that I can't relate to (and I'm thankful for that) such as depression and suicide, but it was eye opening to get a glimpse into how it may feel to have these conditions. It really gave me a new outlook on both myself internally, how I project myself externally, and how others may do the same. Overall it was an amazing read that really touched my soul (and crushed it at times lol). As soon as I finished it I knew it would be my new favorite book and honestly it's one of the best books that I've read in a hot minute. I could probably talk about this book for hours if the person listening just let me ramble and put all of my thoughts out there

I love this series so much, it actually makes me want to join an actual book club. Also, speaking about suggesting books, I think, conside you enjoyed Dostojewski, you can enjoy another Russian author, this time Mikhail Bulgakov's 'The Master and Margarita.' Also I think 'Book without the title' by Anonym would be good as well.

What an uncultured swine you are. Even the thought of Book review being better than Meme review is appalling. Books are merely One single persons Beliefs, imagination and creativity which one wants to express and is but an ideal, an ideal which one simply cannot reach. Whereas memes are the way which our generation can forget our difference and come together to celebrate memes. A way to spread the message through Dank or clean memes, a way to protest against the authority, a way to express the collective Voice, Beliefs, Statements, Creative of the people and most of all, it brings Joy, a sense of belongingness which Brings the people closer together. Memes are not bounded by race, culture, religion or nationality, it is one of the constant that unite the world. So for you to even think the unspeakable........ I have no words.

I just read No Longer Human. I definitely have a façade, though I don't work as hard to maintain it as Oba. This book made me re-evaluate my interactions with people. It is a very sad book, but also strangely cathartic. I feel so bad for Oba. Glad to see you read it too, Pewds.

Hey, this has encouraged me to start reading again after not reading a book for years. I'm now lost in a fictional scifi (none of the ones you suggested), and it's because you made books look cool again that I started reading again. It didn't have that same attachment to it as something I HAD to do in highschool. It was more, "oh, I can do this for... pleasure?" And it turns out, when you get to pick the book, you can immerse yourself in other worlds. The limits are your imagination. So anyway thanks pewds.

I like the videos but dont give a synopsis of the books. Just give a teaser and release a synopsis at the end of the video or separately. If you spoil the books they wont be as enjoyable for the people who now wants to read them.
