Red Dead Redemption is a 2010 action-adventure game developed by Rockstar San Diego and published by Rockstar Games. A successor to 2004's Red Dead Revolver, it is the second game in the Red Dead series. Red Dead Redemption is set during the decline of the American frontier in the year 1911.

This hurts even more after RDR2's backstory. Knowing the history and that Arthur died to give John a new life. I've heard 3 theories on the mysterious stranger. 1. He's Satan. 2. He's Death/Grim Reaper, and 3. He's Cain, the first murderer, who killed his brother Abel. My guess is he's Death. But the Cain theory was well thought out.

@@Mike-nd1oo In the Bible Cain and Abel are Adam and Eve's first children. IIRC Cain was jealous of the adoration Abel was getting, so he offed him. As a curse God made him immortal so he has to walk the Earth forever.

I've seen dozens of reactions to this death, but not 1 had the contemplation you had when John was facing the odds. It made me ponder what a person thinks in that moment. Bravo, beauty. You've won the gold for reactions by a thousand miles.

I always thought Uncle's death was fitting. He was labelled useless and the gang only tolerated him due to his amusement value.. But he provided wisdom in his own way, and helped John in his own way. He then died protecting his friends that he chose as his family, and the house he helped build. RIP Uncle 🪦💔

I remember watching a play through of rdr2 a while back. Jack was running around in camp saying something about being a gunslinger or playing around as one. Abagail tells him "over my dead body" 😢

The "bury me not on the lone prairie" song at the end reminded me of Steve Taylor's version that was added into the song lyrics of, "Jenny." On a Saturday night all the girls run free Singing "bury me not on the lone prairie" But where do you go when you finish broken-hearted? Back to the dust where you started

John knew that sooner or later all will come to an end, he definitely knew it in his heart that his time will come like the rest of the gang members and they will come back for him too eventually, remember what Dutch said : ''They will find another because they have to justify their wages..'' But for the sake of loving his family one last time spending whatever time he had left on the farm which the game gave the player with those few missions was a way of saying ''Goodbye''... The last moments in the barn where he sent Abigail and Jack far away to get to safety, seeing them for the last time then taking his final breath with everything in mind was brutal... can't even imagine what was going through his mind 😣And then getting his body pierced with bullets about 10 times and STILL struggling to withstand about 10 seconds more before collapsing on the ground 😢I'd say this is the kind of will and strength John had till the very last moment, his instinct to protect his family and the love he had built for them throughout both games made his character arc one of the best in any story game... Still, it was trully a tragic story for everyone.. Don't even want to think about Jack and how he must have been feeling... 🥺 R.I.P J.M ''Blessed are the peacemakers'' 💔He and Arthur are two of the most beloved protagonists Rockstar ever accomplished Fact: If you remember the last encounter with the Strange Man, he said : ''This is a good spot'' and right after that, John tried to shoot him but the gun stopped at the fourth bullet, meaning Jack was the only one surviving. The spot is the exact same where John, Abigail and Uncle were burried at the end... So, as you might have guessed, The Strange Man was indeed the Grim Reaper or simply the personification of Death. He is in RDR2 aswell in the form of an easter egg. You still have one more thing to do!

There’s actually a cool detail about John’s death scene. Ross’s right hand man wasn’t there. By the time John killed Dutch he built up respect and wouldn’t go to kill him

Archer is literally in the firing squad and can be killed by John. He just doesn't get a cutscene.

The last scene with The Strange man, John shoots him 3 times, but the 4th shot - his gun jammed. It's a symbolism for John, Abigail, Uncle, and then Jack is spared. And people say that the man could be Death/Grim Reaper or the devil or something supernatural. He even says "This is a nice spot" which is where all 3 of them are buried.

The way I view this is that THIS is what they mean by redemption. Arthur's redemption was finally being able to accept he's a good man at the end, and John's redemption was spending his last moments alive defending his family after being distant throughout the second game

This was first game i played were main Chracter died really hits one of best games of all time for sure. RDR2 was the first game i played were the main Character died of an illness these really are incredible Experiences.

The title of that last mission with John is a reference to 1 Corinthians 15:26. The mission is called "The last enemy that shall be destroyed". And as the verse says, that last enemy is death. There's still a side quest for the true ending as well as the non-canon Undead Nightmare expansion. Both of which are very worthwhile to play.

I love RDR2. You know I do. But something about this game just hit me harder. It as more intimate. The controls were much easier. It was more accessible. RDR2 had so much that imo, sometimes too much can be a negative. Still love it, but just like 1 more
