The ideal thing to have for your pump would be a "foot valve" just above the sand point. That allows the whole vertical pipe to stay full after you finish pumping. The "foot valve" is a true "check valve" with a metal insert to keep the water in the pipe. Good luck with the property!
@keithdeshong96124 жыл бұрын
@@westend3019 the water in the pipe would freeze and burst the pipe in the winter. Using the ball valve as a check valve is a great idea, they can let the pipes drain back out when it gets freezing.

I’m struggling to understand how 80+ degrees is so awful. But I’ve lived in south Louisiana all my life so I guess it’s relative. 🤷🏻♀️ Hell…80+ degrees down here means it’s late September or even October and our first cool front has pushed through and everybody is busting out the gumbo pot! Seriously, I want to move to Michigan because of this channel. It’s helped me survive the summer.

I was born in Allegan, Michigan and as a young boy I hated the mosquitos and black flies and humid heat. We moved to Florida when I was 9 and mosquitos, no-see-ems were really bad there, but after drinking sulfur water for a few years they never bit me any more. I took a trip through the Everglades Wilderness Waterway and they did not bother me at all, but my friend from New York was eaten alive because he lived on city water his whole life. In going through swamps I found where there was a heavy sulfur smell (smells like rotten eggs) there were no mosquitos or other bugs, but when we got to some Indian Mounds where it was dry the mosquitos were bad again, so the smell of the water in the swamp was bugless, just the opposite of what most people would think. Now I live in the mountains of Montana and no bugs and no humidity.

An anti-bug suggestion: Put your clothes you plan on taking to camp with you in the dryer with either dryer balls or a few wash cloths wetted down with some kind of bug repellent oils or cedarwood and peppermint essential oils. Put them in the dryer together to help permeate through your clothes to help increase your bug protection when you put your clothes on, same with a neckerchief that you might want to consider wearing even though it's hot. Great Video, good luck
@cristycreates28874 жыл бұрын
Great idea!
@scray002 жыл бұрын
The oil doesn’t compromise the inside of the dryer, or catch on fire. That’d be my luck lol I would love that smell even with no bugs. I thought the same about a neckerchief to keep the bugs away from the hairline and neck. I used to put a tshirt on, then pull it off but leave it on my head and tie the sleeves around my neck. Sweat band for my head and bug protection for my neck and back. This bug situation they have is next level. I’ll never complain about mosquitoes in New England ever again. Of course ours have some nasty diseases they carry.

My hair is long and thick enough it keeps the bugs off my neck pretty well. And I rub Citronella leaves, which I grow in my yard, on m hands to keep the mosquito away. But I like to wear long sleeve shirts to keep the mosquito off my arms. I had been wanting to buy some new light long sleeve button down shirts, but they're "out of season" so I couldn't find any at the store, and when I do find them they're usually at least $20 each. So I started searching online, and since they are "out of season" I found some on sale! With the addition of a discount code that I had, I ended up getting the shirts for about $6 each. At that price I bought 10 shirts. I'm not sure I have ever bought more than 1 shirt at a time in my life before (other than t-shirts, because they come on packs.) --- Your golf cart reminded me of when I used to golf. My cart was one someone had thrown away, and it didn't have a bag. So I tied a 3 foot piece of PVC sewer line on it to put my clubs in. Since I lived in the mountains and had no lawn, I played what we called "offroad golf". The last time I went to a golf course I got paired up with a guy and a girl who was loudly bragging about the Pro Am she had played in a few days earlier. The first hole I let her go first... since she was the "pro". It was a short dog-leg to the right. She slammed it straight into a house. I saw her laughing at my sewer pipe golf cart and 100 year old wooden driver with the leather on the shaft starting to unravel. I curved my ball around a big pine tree and half way up the fairway. I got par on the first hole, she got a bogie (1 over par). A few holes later my ball went off the fairway and was sitting on an asphalt walkway. She tried to tell me I needed to pick up the ball, walk to the edge of the walkway and drop my ball at arms length onto the edge of the fairway. I said "nah, I'll shoot it from where it's at." I pulled out my "woman's" 9 iron (I'm a small guy, most my clubs were women's) and popped the ball right up on the green near the hole, and ended up getting a birdie (1 under par.) She finished that hole but then refused to play with me anymore. She just couldn't handle having an old offroad golfer with a sewer pipe cart and pawn shop clubs showing her up like that :> --- Learning to survive heat is a learned skill, just like learning to survive cold is. Keeping your shirt and pants wet helps a lot. And getting a small towel wet and use it to put some water on your arms, legs, and face. Then put the wet towel on the back of your neck. When it gets 115+ here, most every summer, doing whatever it takes to keep cool is your main task for the entire day. Survival skills. I've had heat stroke, and it's not fun. In hot weather if nothing else I can always eat fruit. Canned peaches is a favorite in hot weather, even better if you keep them in the fridge or ice chest.

i rub the Citronella leaves on my hands, etc too. I find if I get it wet it works even better. I'm also finding that Peppermint leaves are actually working better. I keep both plants near me on the patio at night also. What about trying a high grade essential oil like peppermint from doTERRRA.? This week I'm getting bit by these tiny little things that look like a black stick. Maybe only a 16th of an inch long if that big. I have no idea what they are but its like a fly bite.
@dianajean48374 жыл бұрын
Duck, I always keep my shirt wet too. Helps a lot. Also keep my hair wet and keep it up in a bun under my hat. Now keep in mind this is all just to survive my backyard in Florida, I'm not the unbelievably brave woman Brooke is . . . just surviving the heat and bugs while gardening and enjoying being outside.

@@missingremote4388: $60 for a shirt! Wow, it must be a nice one!! I got 10 shirts for $60, and to my surprise they actually fit me! I'm only 5'6" tall but my arms are the same length as my 6'3" tall friend (a handy attribute in my younger years as an amateur boxer. Comes in handy at the dinner table too :> Usually if I find a shirt with long enough sleeves, the pocket it down on my stomach and the shirt is big enough to use as a pup tent. I ordered 10 shirts, they only had 9 in stock so refunded $10 (even though I only paid $6 each). So ended up getting 9 shirts for $50, so $5.55 per shirt.

Thank God for the good news!!! It’s 80+ degrees and Maisy is wearing a coat!!! Also thank goodness for that bug strip on your hat. Girl I feel so bad for you but at the same time you are absolutely funny!!!! Maybe I’m just over tired after cooking thanksgiving dinner and clean up. 8+ hours. I’m over tired!!!

Looks like the canoe carrier needs a redesign asap. LOL Might be time to consult bush radical on that. As always great spirit. Don't see anything stoppin the "Girl in the woods."

I was wishing so much I could have been with you so you would not be alone. Glad it all worked out for you. Mosquitoes don’t usually bite me much but bet they would where you are. Also don’t let the critics get to you. You know what you are doing better than most.

Oh my aching head girl!!!! Your killing me!!! I’m laughing my butt off watching this but on the other hand I feel so bad!!! I wanted so bad to climb into this video and help you haul that dang canoe to the lake. Never mind all the trouble you went through to get it there but then you had to deal with that god forsaken camera too. Back and forth back and forth!!! Oh girl I’m so sorry for laughing but you were so funny!!! I love you to pieces!!!!❤️😂

Hubby got me a new pair of headphones: he’s sleeping, it’s 3:16 am Friday June 3, 2022. Wanted some ME time. So here I am with you! Born in 1942, in the city-girl era of girls don’t do these things. I’m in absolute envy of you. Have a friend in Michigan that was bit by a bunch of black flies, she was able to crawl to her neighbor’s home to get help, and her neighbor got her to the er in time. She now carries an Epipen 24/7 because she almost died with an allergic reaction from all the black fly bites. Finally convinced her to carry one in her pocket while in the house. As I said to her”what if you’re in the house, and one bites you and you go into shock? She lives by herself.

My ex husband was at a golf tournament and a guy got bit by a bee and died right there in minutes. He had forgotten his epi pen in the car. My other friend had some seafood and we were out at a bar they were playing a gig at. Over the course of an hour or two I watched his face blow up and his eyes were almost closed. Had to get him to the er. He never had an allergy before. That’s the scary thing is you can get them any time in your life.

Love your content. Been running saws for over 30 years. Buddies shamed me for 20 year about chaps. Took a pair they lent to me. Cutting and clearing pine conifer in winter. Limb slap and snow load put my saw across the top of my legs. Freak accident but the chaps stopped the chain from cutting both legs. Was out there on my own. Never go out without chaps on. Just my 2 cents. There comebursome and hot during summer but beats the effects of without. $25 dollars we'll spent on chaps.

Thanks for the bite! It was delicious! Thanks for sharing! Currently, I am a Michigan girl living in a Georgia world. At some point, I will be relocating back to the TC area or maybe, Petosky. Like you, I have a really difficult time with hot weather.

You kill me when you said you weren't putting on that greaay sticky mess. I laughed so hard my sides hurt. You are one funny lady. I've missed seeing you around. I watched Bush Radical and your son yesterday at the cabin. They collected rain water and cooked up a good breakfast. Are you not making as many videos.? I like watching you and if I offend you in as anyway I'm sorry. I dont want to make my people mad at me. Stay safe

Hi Brooke, i love coming on your adventures with you, you're such an adventurous young lady with such energy and confidence and those pesky mosquitoes and flies make life really difficult for you. You did a great job with the check valve, you're so talented and what an amazing site of those flies trapped on top of your cap, so funny. xx

Get a solar powered generator and run a small fan. Those bugs are relentless. I cant sleep at night when its so hot. I went camping one time it was so hot i thought i was going to passvout. I had to get in my car and run the ac to get cooled off. I bought a fan to run at night it was still hot but at least it stirred the air around. Take care be safe.

In case your interested, your original bug shirt {same with the pants} is to be worn with nothing under it. You will stay much cooler & more comfortable. I bought my 1st in 1998 & would never B caught without it. Ontario black flies, horse flies, yellow jackets & huge mosquitos, are >Relentless

🎵”Being bitten Alive ive ive ive Bitten Alive Bitten Alive”🎶 Lol. You actually have a wonderful singing voice. And you got that well pump working all while the flies and mosquitoes biting you too. Isn’t there anything besides fire that will keep those bugs away? It is amazing what you accomplish all on your own. After the first round of mosquito bites I would have been gone. lol
