Due to the flooding the bearings were probably washed out and maybe are no longer there. Otherwise id say it was all due to running in a acidic contaminated system.

Overheat. Possible, voltage unbalance, high superheat. Dirty condenser. Poor water cool heatexchanger. Incorrect compressor oil level.
