The kinetic side panel opening system is actually a feature: When you're in a heated gaming situation, the room temperature may naturally rise as you sweat and as your table shakes while you're trying to ace clutch the round your computer could naturally use more airflow so the side panel falls open by itself to give the GPU more access to air and keeping the temperatures cooler. As a happy side effect it also may cause elevated heart rates, thus enabling you to react faster.

I had the pleasure of talking to Hyte's marketing manager last July and the conversation naturally led to Steve's review of the Hyte y40. To paraphrase, she said it was disheartening, but hey, the criticisms in that video helped with the creation of the Hyte y70 Infinite, "Which Steve really liked!". The glass panel falling out in even the 3D render is such a troll. 😂 Speaking of those animations, I really appreciate them. @blahorgaslisk7763Ай бұрын
Now we know why they say the case won't explode. The glass panel blows free and fall to the floor before the pressure get high enough to cause destructive rupture of the case. Now the glass might explode when falling out, but that's not as dangerous as a case exploding. Now for a fun story. I have actually seen a computer case that did explode. It all started with a customer bringing in their old computer that wouldn't hold time and date. Well that's what happens when the battery for the CMOS memory and real time clock dies. On old computers these were often powered using an external battery pack connected to the motherboard through a cable. These early on came in two versions. They were either using regular AA cells in a battery holder or they were Nikel Cadmium type rechargeable batteries. Later came lithium batteries that wasn't rechargeable but generally would hold power for a long time, up to ten years in some cases. Well this was an old machine with NiCAD battery so it sent a charging current to the battery when the computer was turned on. Another technician got the job and put a Lithium cell in it. Then he came to me and asked if it was normal that the battery got warm when the computer was running. I checked it and the battery was really to warm to hold and I told him it was sent charge current and couldn't work like this. Either turn off the charge current or swap to a NiCAD cell instead. Having said that I went back to my own work. A day later the customer called back and said the computer had exploded. OK, right it had to be the battery I thought so I told him to bring it in and we would fix it. Well he and his son came in and the computer had developed gull wings. Old computers often had a top cover that was a plate bent so it covered both sides and the top in one piece. On this one the battery had exploded and ripped the side panels out and bent them to the sides up at almost 90 degrees. The tech had not changed out the battery but left the Lithium battery in and the charge current had made it explode. The first and only time I'd seen something like that. We replaced the entire computer with a new and modern one. it was probably at least ten times, more probably a hundred times as fast as their old computer. The most amazing thing is that they were so relaxed about it. I would have been a lot less surprised if they had been screaming and shouting instead. But we did what we could to make it as good as possible for them and even managed to copy their old hard drive so they retained everything on their old machine. Still I had a talk with he technician who really didn't understand why it would be a bad thing to charge a lithium cell that grew hot enough it was painful to hold it after ten minutes of having the computer turned on.

this is the issue with big sponsored events like the Tryx one: you see your favorite influencer at the event and then incorrectly think the product/company is trustworthy and has the influencer's blessing... meanwhile, the influencer is just there because they're being paid to attend (which is totally fine) but often times the company will take as many photos of them next to the products as possible, for their marketing/promotion like "hey look! here Steve is standing next to our KAKA case, so obviously Steve loves our cases"
@GamersNexusАй бұрын
In our situation also, we don't take money to attend unveil events ever. We view it as a major ethics breach and our job is to cover products at events for viewers. By paying others to go to them, it makes everyone look like they take money.

Not related to this particular case, but just some reflections on your testing methodology from a big fan of yours that recently bought a new case. While I recognise it's impossible to get a perfect comparison, I think the big thing omitted from your tests is "ideal" fan configuration. Of course that adds a layer of subjectivity to the tests, but I think that some cases really suffer in the methodology. I think in particular about "no-fan" cases. As a consumer, my preference is actually for "no-fan" cases because I will be replacing the fans no matter what, which is common practice for a lot of people looking at mid to high end. For example, the Flux Pro not having a "no-fan" version is actually a downside for me, despite loving the case, because to me it's an additional cost I don't need. Some cases also work far better with more fans installed. If there weren't supply issues in the UK, the Flux Pro or C8 would have been the case I got, but frankly I'm not interested in their fans and would have probably sold or given them away. It makes it difficult to get useful data on cooling in these instances.

I think the client had gone into the store and said, "I need a computer that costs less than $300", so the store built them a computer for less than $300. I've never seen a stranger mix of components - mostly secondhand ones - starting with a motherboard that supported a wider range of processors than I thought possible at the time. But the case deserved special mention. I've bought disposable aluminum roasting pans that had more structural integrity than that case did. Simply removing the side panel bent the cage, and the interior was slightly deformed from the weight of the PSU and the 3.5" hard drive. So, I'm sure Tryx would be pleased to know that there are - or at least used to be - worse cases out there. They'd be less pleased to know what a low bar that is, though.

Too many good cases recently. This is the stuff we love.

That 3D model demonstration of such a beautifully painful moment had me laughing, great job guys xp
@AngelesRamirez015Ай бұрын
Well I guess the fact the side panel just falls off improves airflow somewhat, right? 😂
@aderfex8101Ай бұрын
Except it could make it worse as air flowing randomly can cause higher temps (Not A expert on this stuff that was what I was told)
@krjal3038Ай бұрын
@aderfex8101 for a case with decent flow to begin with yes but this one's... well, it probably won't make it worse

You have such a grace of making a review of a below average product sound so much more interesting and polite at the same time. You clearly have a British perspective to your reviews 😊

:53 Died laughing. THIS case was the one hand-picked to be sent for review.

I was like one second away from drinking when the panel fell off in the animation, almost had to clean my entire desk and stuff

Poor me, I just ordered this exact case few days ago, it's still on its way here

Refuse delivery. If they give you a hassle dispute with credit card.
@OGSumoАй бұрын
@@DrylochRefusing delivery seems silly to me. It’s not the delivery company’s fault or responsibility that you don’t want the case. Whether you do or do not take the package makes no difference in trying to get a refund/return from Tryx since they aren’t the shipping company.

In EU you have 14-day return period for most stuff bought remotely.

Just for peoples info. I bought a Frieren Starforge case and got it shipped to Australia. (Just the case). 0 damage, perfect result :) points for Baldmongler.
@Teatime4TomАй бұрын
And they sent it to you? Bold choice.
@ausfoodgardenАй бұрын
I thought Steve was being pretty harsh on this case as clearly the one they got had been damaged in transit. That is until I just saw one at my regular computer store. Loose side panel and easily twisting chassis. This is just a big miss at the price they are asking.

As Steve pointed out, it's the companies responsibility to either build a product that stands up to leaving the warehouse or ensure said product is packed well enough that it can survive leaving the warehouse.

I commented on another channel nearly a week ago that this case looked really unstable etc that reviewer hardly mentioned it, nice to see GN giving it a more diligent review.

The airflow animation is hilarious! Thank you for making my day GN 👍

Your review style is great, injecting enough humour and barely contained frustration with some badly designed hardware. Keep up the great work everyone!

my god, I thought this abomination was cheap chinese O11 knockoff that was $20. I didn't expect it to be a $200 case from a company with big names and lots of money behind it. YIKES

I've never enjoyed a pc case review nearly as much as i have this one. Thanks Steve and GN crew, this made my day.

I absolutely love the comedic elements within a quality review. The animation at 16:15 made me spit my drink out. Keep doing what you're doing GN - its gods work for real. Side note - really enjoying my limited edition t-shirt! Received it the other week.
