Your touch on the deeper introspection about how the exercise uncovered a relationship with ego (and perhaps control?) when it comes to creating art, and the pressure we create to be creative, which can be both positive and negative, was so cool to see.

Hi Jono and team...hope you're all keeping well 💙 Cool vid shows just how much taking time with drawings can add so much more. I used to think a drawing was finished after an hour lol. When i first consciously "challeneged" myself to draw a portrait of 50 Cent to the highest of my ability at the time, didn't rush, took my time and went further with it...i hit about 45-50 hours on it and it was the first picture i actually impressed myself with...not rushing on a time limit really does pay off. Another enlightening vid...stay safe all 👍👍👍

We used to do timed drawings in university drawing classes. Though, we always started with 30 sec drawings, then 1 minute, then a longer one (which varied in time). Shorter ones usually become contour line or gestural drawings to catch the most important parts. It has been ages...think I'll pull out the old sketchbook tonight! Fun video, thanks!

Thank you for the interesting video. Your artwork is fantastic! I struggle with jumping into details too quickly, as well, so it was relatable when you mentioned how the time limit forced you to confront that. I’m slow at drawing - it would take me 5 hours to do what you did in 1 hour. Getting faster is one of my goals and watching you work shows me it is possible to render well in an hour!

The purpose is not to do as much detail as you go along, the drawing should get simpler and simpler. But the accuracy should still be at a high level regardless of the details but each one pushes you with each drawing. It's a great test for all artists to do.
@drgamer16392 жыл бұрын
His that line is so awesome that we should firstly focus on our proportion otherwise if we put hardwork and gave the drawing best shading but it doesn't full fill out expectations due to the improper proportion that's why i mostly focus on proportion

The purpose of the drawing exercise wasn’t to create a finished level of drawing that contains finished level of details. These exercises are used to explore contrast, value, volume - they’re meant to be fast, loose and capturing strong shadows and lights. The fun progression is to work down to 20 secs or so and then release yourself back into an hour length drawing and feel the freshness that has come back into your marks. I’ve found these exercises to be powerful in forcing me to see the foundation, contrasts and how the image works. Your first 10 min drawing really represented the lights and darks of the image so well. But they’re not meant to create images that are polished.
