Your ceilings are high enough and the door to the lounge is right there, just build a staircase and have a second floor with the lounge above that new work bay. Give a nice overview of the shop too.

Each lift needs its own shelf on wheels. Bike comes apart, parts go on. Shelf can go over to the door to load parts in and out of vehicles to go for paint/powder etc.

You need some 3' x 5' tables in front of the lifts to organize parts or rolling-carts for the parts for each bike to get those other lifts open. Just a thought.
@Westernchauvinist Жыл бұрын
At a shop that I worked at we had rolling carts for parts
@bodencklau5406 Жыл бұрын
Rolling parts cart. Has like 4 shelf’s you can put a majority of a build on there and roll it to the corner till you need it again
@andrewjohn643 Жыл бұрын
Man, I can’t believe how far you and this shop have come 🙌
@dragonrace43 Жыл бұрын
You should try the organization method LZ uses (which he got from other speed shops). You get rolling shelves, 1 per build, that way all the parts for that build stay with the corresponding build cart.

I have a “Let’s Roll” scissor Jack and dolly. Maybe on those wait for parts bikes you could “roll “ it to the side until ready to get back on lift? Opens the lift up for other things.?
@Kreigmstr Жыл бұрын
Why not use some sort of rolling table/shelf for storing parts for in-progress builds? Then you could just roll out the table when your working on a specific build.

Late to this party, but I have a suggestion for more working space: Husky Rolling Work Benches. They raise and lower to whatever height you want with a crank handle or a 1/4 inch chuck in an impact/drill. Definitely could clear up that extra lift and give you an invaluable moving work table.

Blockhead garage looks busy. You gotta paint the underside of that top shelve. At least the visible part. It doesn't look right when you can see some wood grain while you're standing there looking at it. It'll only take a few minutes to finish. Maybe I'm too OCD.

To put it in perspective, I'm fairly certain Daytona H-D (the old one on Beach St, not Harleymart at Destination Daytona) only had about 10-12 lifts when I worked there in 2006. Of course, the Screamin Eagle warehouse that was in the back lot had another 30-40 lifts but they were rarely used.

@luuk1982 Жыл бұрын
Why don't you guys put in another floor? It will cost a pretty penny but the ceiling is high enough. Preferably with a system that you can put the bikes that you're not working on up there too. There's a lot of space there and a better place/flow for the bike lift next to the booth. The 2 new lifts seem pretty cramped/snug.
