Hi, just found your channel, I have 2 MN99’s, that I got during Covid from I believe WISH. I absolutely love mine. I have the 99’s In the metallic grey & another red one that I’ve made into a pickup. I did the pen spring shock mods, including changing the indicators / sidelights more original by changing them from side to side & so called upside down. Added bullbars, towbar, pick-up side tie / grab handles, changed the hex hubs to alloy ones & alloy looking wheels. I think I have different snorkel on mine, looking at the checker plate looking pieces for bonnet / tops of wings etc. I’m still modding mine, wanting to change all the gearing etc. I added a water proofed agent to the circuit boards etc, used it in the rain & snow. Like you say, for a budget RC they defo have the real thing character & modability. I really want to get the Carisma Classic Range Rover, or similar model G Wagon. I might now have to look into the MN99’s V2. Thankyou for your videos. I’m going to look through more of your videos. Daniel. UK / Britain Near London.

@@disciplinerc Don't want to take advantage of your time but was wondering if you find the 168/90/128 relatively the same speed. (in case we get one of each and want to race them) or should I stick to 4 of the same model and just paint them different. Girls kind of like the 128, I like the 168 and my boy wants the 90.... sigh. Don't want to end up with one truck that wins every time because its that much faster.
@disciplinerc14 күн бұрын
They are all geared the same and will drive the same speed-ish. A battery with a higher mAh and better 'c' rating will give better bust power. But the mn168 will win hands down in a race anyday of the week. Better shocks will keep it in control and the ESC has an electronic second speed. Not a lot faster, but still quicker 👍

Is there any good source to explain the difference between all these MNRC cars?.... just wrapped my head around the MN82 and MN82 Pro... now I see an MN82S and now this..... Plus I see the MN168 and the 99S MN128 all 1/12 scale.... which one is worth buying for me and my kids. Looking to get 4 of them so I don't mind mixing and matching all these model numbers to get different trucks but as we are racing them against each other, I also don't want to buy one that is way more capable than the others. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I see us upgrading them in the future so I also wouldn't mind one which is more popular for parts availablitily to order online. I like the 128's so far, but it seems like they review badly while the 82's seem to get good reviews for the cost. Had Tamiya RC's (frog/hornet) growing up but with 3 kids I'd like to start off a little more budget friendly to see if they even like it. Don't mind diving into upgrades. Also wouldn't mind knowing which upgrades are the ones that most feel are necessary to start off with (weakest points of whatever model is recommended).... already clammering on, TYIA.
@disciplinerc16 күн бұрын
Great questions dude. I'd say that the MN99s and the MN168 are the best of the bunch. Good scale and the new chassis/transmission are way better then the others. The MN128 doesn't have the ground clearance, but is pretty good too. The MN168 has better upgradeability with 12mm hex's for the wheels, which is standard size for most 1/10 trucks and comes with oil shocks that aren't too bad. The others still use 5mm hex's similar to WPL. You can get adaptors though, and can run 1.5" wheels, a good and needed upgrade on the 99 and 128. The portal axles on the 168 help with clearance too. The new MN99s V2 now shares the same chassis with both the 99 and 168 so parts can be shared between those models, with a lot of aftermarket parts support. Careful though when buying cheap aluminum links etc. The machining is often not the best and can actually make them handle worse. Your best upgrade will be tires and new electronics. The motors are good to start with, but the esc/motor combo they come with is really loud and doesn't have the power when needed. These are good starter cars for kids and the price is right where if they don't like it after a while, it's not a big loss and you can use the shelved ones for parts if needed. Upgrading the motor/esc to something better will be probably about 3/4 the price of the car, but you may find that they work just fine out of the box for your needs. Check the links in the comments, there are some good sale prices this week. Hope that helps! 😎👌

@@disciplinerc I think I'll get 4 168's so we are all racing evenly. Thanks for the input. Feel more confident I'm getting a half decent product. I realize this isn't the cats meow (I'm heavily into rc planes/helis), but I think it will allow us to guage how deep into this hobby my two girls and son want to dive with me while racing in the backyard. For now, two blue and two beige 168's will do and we'll focus on the fun stuff like outfitting them with stickers and scale bags etc.. so that we can easily distinguish them when racing. I like to make these projects for learning opportunities for the kids. I think our next project will be a lap timer to track each cars lap and times. When we do get tired of the stock performance any point in the right direction for a descent motor/esc, servo, shocks, tire upgrade would be greatly appreciated. Been hooked on your videos. So many videos on youtube that just kind of fizzle over stats. Really like your reviews and vids. Keep up the good work.
