Best way to resolve concussion issues is to remove the helmet altogether. The issue is the perceived safety to crush an opponent with their head. Rugby do better with minimal headgear because they have concern for their own heads when giving hits.
@ESmith8 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I realize that. The problem is the inability to stop the want of watching two 220 lbs men bashing their heads together. Nothing, short of Kelso style helmets will really help, Im afraid.

You can prevent the big ones and the repetitive ones by teaching different technique, playing long with the arms, rugby tackles ect... but the general in the moment collisions need to be addressed, and i think this helmet is a step in the right direction. From my personal experience as a player and a coach, the helmets need to be smaller and softer, as well as the shoulder pads. Ask any boxer who has sparred with head gear and they tell you that bigger target hurts the brain much more.

The main problem with improving helmets to protect players from concussions, is that it causes players to feel this false sense of security. Players begin to feel invincible wearing these helmets, causing players to focus less on form, and more on the bigger hit.

you cant really solve this issue , maybe it will prevent the damage but because of players feeling safer and having more confidence in the helmet it will make them want to hit harder than before practically countering the upgrade. this is why many believe rugby is much more violent than football but in the end with the padding players will hit harder because of the decreased risk of hurting themselves

The problem isn't the helmet or any other equipment that players use in football. *It's the way football players play*. And the way they play without certain body protection. Football players, unlike any other sport, invites high speed contact, and often times they lead with their head. *EXAMPLE: A 6.2', 235lb running-back, that runs a 40 yarder in 4.2 seconds.* _If people can only imagine what it might feel like getting hit by Adrian Peterson of the Vikings, the average person wouldn't become conscious until the next day_. Get my drift? Football players crash & throw their bodies around like no other sport. The contact they make is murderous. And back to the uniform, all levels of football (i.e., high school, college & pro) rarely put on equipment that is readily available to them. Knee pads, shin pads, hip pads, neck brace, forearm pads, elbow pads, front & back thigh pads, rib pads (quarterbacks mostly) and larger shoulder pads. Football players chose not to wear these things because they don't want to sacrifice speed. *SPEED*: which is the main culprit for football injuries of all types.

Wow... impressive I feel the same way about hockey, but the problem isn't as severe as it is in football

There is not a fix for football. I notice the high school by me does not hit in practice but I hear multiple helmets banging in every game. At least not in practice like the old days. When a CTE test can be done conclusively on the living then football may decline or disappear completely. It is really sad to see so many NFL players I cheered for with CTE. I would think soccer could be an issue as well, at least on goal kicks and punts and corner kicks.

Concussions are a problem but the even bigger issue is the test. On multiple occasions people lie to get out of practice to avoid getting hit we need to somehow create a better test to actually see the numbers of concussion s people have. Another fact is that even at the high school level kids can't hit hard enough to give that blow, the main issue there is the ground impact that causes this.

Quidditch is a fast going sport that will soon be speedy and full of high tech such as my new idea of a segway for the sport and others new ideas for balls for the sport to decrease the game down to only players and reffs on the field. If your willing to be the first to create and offer us a real life quidditch helmet I can promise that you'll corner the market in this sport. The sport is going to soon need helmets and pads with our circle working around the clock to both advance and better the game. This idea will not only be good for Olympic, pro, college, high school, and youth quidditch but also to fan that like to play for fun and act as there favorite player or hero in the sport as well. So as you can see the helmet will also make for a very great gift as well. To see what it looks like just watch the sixth Harry Potter film but if I was you I'd add some eye and face protection as well. Much like football or hockey but in its own way as quidditch fans and player like things to be more quidditchish in tradition. If willing please create a helmet for quidditch. You will deffanently profit from it.
