The late Canadian golfer Moe Norman who was considered to be the best ball striker ever, finished his swing with his arms thrown straight out as you show. So your drill was really his swing although he added a kind of finish with his arms pointing straight up. As my golf instructor always said, form follows function.

To succeed in this and another you tube pro with swing advice how many balls per day or week do you have to hit before results start coming,

I hit a lot of golf balls, and have been in the game a long time. If you want to have a great swing that can work under pressure, and had 5 days to dedicate to the game, close to 2 years. The 10,000 hour rule isn't perfect but it's not a bad place to be thinking. Hope this helps.

There is no science to back this up. Hands are moving the fastest from the top and are actually slowing down into impact. It is like cracking a whip or a towel. You need to slow down the hands to speed up the club head.

Feels and Real can certainly be different, but for most I have found the thought of acceleration is very useful for golfers through the ball, and noting that the club head needs to travel a "further" distance than the hands meaning it needs to move faster to square the club up at impact.
