I am excited about brain machine interfaces like what if we could use them to actually use our brain as the external processor. We may not be able to get the infos but its enough for the bmi to compute it for our lenses

Let's not go crazy now... I enjoy VR and I'm sure the future will be very exciting. But let's not be stupid. Do you really want to put electronics and batteries on your eyes? Even if it were feasible, where would such a thing get power to operate?

I agree 100% I Definitely wouldnt be wearing them especially as technology can have malfunctions at any time and hey.. I need my eyes lol

I thought contact lenses would help focus on a VR display without blur on the edges due to the bad lenses in VR goggles. Being nearsighted is enough of a handicap for me to enjoy VR. To put a complete VR system in my eyes themselves, that's going too far. I want to be able to look away or close my eyes when I don't like what I see, which could be impossible with VR lenses like these. This would make me far too vulnerable to hacking. Put the risk of fire on top of that an I rather see these devices banned in countries that respect people's safety and integrity

But there is one fundamental problem in this...... surely one might think "hm, putting an 8k OLED layer over a contact lens that´s possible, and even rather easy to make! How cool here we have our new VR of the future, coming soon!" - but the human eye simply cannot focus on anything that is not at least five centimeters away from the eye. And this needs a bigger and more complex lens system to project an OLED layer on a contact lens virtually away from the eye, and a bigger and more complex lens system can no longer be worn as a contact lens (at least not without a high uncomfortable amount of pain and pressure on the eye, when placing a lens-system directly onto the eye). I think even the most sophisticated VR systems in 10 or 20 years will therefore always look like some thick pair of nerd-glasses *ggg Or the second possibility is a device that looks like a slim headset microphone (but with an Micro-LED-matrix instead of a microphone on it´s front end) worn on the temple, projecting the augmented reality either on a pair of glasses or onto special contact lens with lasers, making the holograms hoovering at least a few inches away from the eye. But a contact lens itself as a VR headset, hmmm I consider that rather impossible :)

I think most technology seems impossible at first. If it was TRULY impossible and not just incredibly difficult I don't think anyone would be wasting their money on making it.

I think in the future most people will wear contacts to connect to the internet/VR or whatever we'll call it in the future. Might even be able to connect to the brain in the future. Say you want to know if you have enough money in your account to by an item. You just thinking about it and can see the numbers. You will then be able to make a better decision on if your going to buy or not.

Nope. I would agree it’s not soon but it’s not that far, either. I’d give it a few years for phase 2, and the next phases would probably be developed in 10-30 years. It’s closer than you think.

growth is closer to exponential than what you estimate. I think we can all expect glasses in our lifetimes and maybe even some early prototypes on lenses in our lifetimes, or something different entirely
