But even minor damages cost ten thousands of Euros. What is the price tag of a front spoiler or a base plate? Autovisie journalist Sjoerd van Bilsen puts those prices in perspective. The people working for Formula One racing teams don't publicly talk about the cost of separate parts of a Formula One racing car, but thanks to some insiders we can quote some prices. The most expensive part is the monocoque but what does a steering wheel, an engine or a front spoiler cost? The next time that you see Red Bull racing driver Max Verstappen or Ferrari driver Sebastian Vettel thrown their steering wheel out of the cockpit, you have to realize that when that square steering wheel gets damaged, you can buy a new Toyota GT86 for the same amount. And when the front wing gets completely damaged, the team will have a financial loss comparable to the price of a new BMW M4.

Hoe kan het dat het zo duur is. Het lijkt me sterk dat de materialen 10% van de kosten bedragen. Okay dit is allemaal custom maar de grootste kosten zijn denk toch wel research and development

Klopt idd Sjoerd gemiddelde kosten van 1 F1 auto ligt ongeveer op 4,5 tot 5 miljoen euro ligt wel aan wel team uiteraard want Ferrari geeft die kosten nooit vrij
