Hey Al! Just a suggestion; Wire/power up your hotwater tank elements with a heavy duty 240v switch. You could use this as a backup hot water and heat source in an emergency with the way you did your original set-up.

personally, I feel it failed due to heat building up inside that cabinet area when the fan is between cycles, which is really a design flaw. Those Honeywell controls normally last 20+ years elsewhere.

We had an ice storm in 1994, down here in Tennessee , which left my mom and me without electricity for 10 days. The trees were so weighted down with ice that they took out transformers all over town, green flashes in the sky every few seconds as niight fell. After we lost ours, the house was below freezing and getting colder in 10 minutes. We had to stay in hotels, then when we returned to the house, everyone's power had been restored, except our rental, and the house across the street. A kind neighbor saw me walking aroud outside, and offered the use of their kerosene heater, which allowed us to move back home for the last four nights. I decided that if I ever owned a home, I would have a wood stove to help heat the house every winter, and to serve as the only heat in emergencies. If we'd had one, we could have warmed the house, heated water in pots, and cooked..Lanterns and candles would have given us light. Frozen groceries could have stayed on the back porch in a box, with the ones we would use immediately in an ice chest indoors. Other hacks could be used temporarily, for bathing and bathroom. So it became a big priority to have this backup woodstove and lanterns. Redundancy is great when you need it! It would not have been a waste in years when we didnt lose the lights, because we could have used it for a lot of our heat, and even some cooking, saving on the electric bill, and we'd also have a beautiful fire to look at. You cannot depend on just one system to keep you alive, because systems do fail. The more there is to go wrong, the more likely it is to fail. It's great to have a low tech solution to kick in when the high tech ones go wrong.

Really nice of the boiler dealer to take time to meet with you. In today’s world, they don’t always do that. Did you give him a package of your coffee. Always nice to establish a friendship with someone like that. I have heated with an outdoor boiler for probably 35 years. A spare blower & circulator pump has solved my emergency’s. Bet Gina is anxious to start milking in the barn. If you have enough power, bet she would like a small infrared heated she could turn on over her on cold mornings for a few minutes.

Al, you should do a postmortem on the controller to see what happened. Stripped gear, burned out motor, frozen bearing, electronic circuit failure. Being on a wood burning appliance the sniff test for burned component is not going to work. It's also possible the wire plug was not making good contact and needs to be cleaned.

Things always fail at bad times. Some while ago the actuator on my heating failed at the start of our Easter holiday, a 4 day holiday. With two small children and a freezing snow covered weather forecast the was not good. I found a small store, miles away that had the motor available. I wired the valve open and went off on my two hour round trip. The replacement synchronous motor is still working fine more than quarter of a century later.

One thing I do ever since one of my demand water heaters had issues (and still does) is to have stock to repair issues I have with critical appliances. Corporations move on to the next models and stop making parts for the phased out models. After market companies jump in to supply lucrative parts but the quality isn't there. As an example I have a 40 year old Kitchen Aid mixer (the one made by Hobart in Ohio) I did an overhaul on it and was going to replace a gear. The replacement was plastic, the original one was metal. A part like the damper on your furnace is something that might be good to keep on hand. It looks like both dampers are the same. They also look like components might be available to rebuild the old one and have it on hand.

This project is going to be pretty nifty. I can’t wait to see how it turns out. It’s also encouraging to know that I’m not the only one that figures out the details as I go along. I love the way you mention where you get things, even if they’re not a sponsor of your video. Sure, the viewer can see the stores and figure it out for most of the stuff, but you also gave credit to Wayfair for the countertop and your local dealers for the heating system. It’s great that you give credit where credit is due, and if a viewer sees something they need, they will know where to start looking for that item. Your grey kitty has such beautiful eyes! It’s probably not a good description for a boy, but they’re such a piercing shade of blue in this video.

So happy you were able to get the part for the boiler even though it was Sunday. I think this table your building is going to be great. Thanks for sharing your ingenuity with us. You are a great creator of things you need. Y'all have a Blessed day. Have fun making the podcast.

Good evening Lumnah family from a partly sunny Pacific NW. Good evening viewers. Too bad about the damper malfunction on the outdoor wood boiler. I'm so glad you could get a hold of the newer and closer dealer with that part in stock on a Sunday! I got a key made for the 2001 Subaru Forester I'm going to give my son to go to college from a local locksmith. Now that key will work for everything on the car. The parts car could have had it's ignition lock cylinder put in the one that's getting fixed up because the guy that had both those cars did have a key to the parts car. Then it would have a key for the ignition and then all the doors would have to be changed over too. I like having the doors stay the same on the one to be fixed up and get a new key made for the ignition! I think that is easier in the long run because of the time it saves. Less disassembly of the doors! It cost $120 but the key works great and now the car can be locked! Yay, the dampers are opening again! Great! I'm so glad you're back in the "heat" business. I like your idea of the stainless steel workbench! I'm glad you could get them at a good price on Wayfair. Azalea and Cookie look happy. Hope, 297, and Daisy look good! Nice and round with their winter coats on. Workbench is looking good! Good idea just buying the furniture dollies instead of buying just the casters. I got my "In the Woods" coffee. So good! Thanks for this video Lumnah family!

I hate being cold!! Creosote is a pain. We had to. Clean out chimney about every six weeks! My grandpa would covet your barn. Loads of memories of playing in his barn. It had space for 40 dairy cows. It burned to the ground in the mid sixties. A kid snuck in to smoke and accidentally set it on fire. We miss that barn.

In the last video you mentioned that you'd like a sliding wall like the chicken coop for the pigpen. Why not extend the track so you could move the wall from the chickens to make room for the pigpen wall during clean outs?

Crazy about those casters. With regard to the wood boiler, it has been an amazing boiler. Having an unexpected issue with one of the dampers is not much to deal with.

Why not think about making bins with wheels for the storage containers. Wheel the bin to the pen to feed. Just thinking of what we did when we were feeding our breeding sows.
