A ceiling fan will circulate all the warm air up at the ceiling and keep the whole shop at a even constant heat. With out a fan all the hot air will go up to the ceiling and the ground floor will remain cold and burn more pellets to get it warm.

This was my thought before, with a home hot-water heater pumping warm water through the floor would keep the floor warm.

You really need to decide on a heat source for your in floor heat. I use Propane. Once operating you'll heat the slab and when you open a garage door and close it the recovery is quick. Set it at a low temp, like 45 or 50 and use the pellet stove to bring the temperature up when you're working. You'll never regret it. I keep my garage at 55 and it's quite comfortable for work. If I'm working a long sleeve shirt is often enough to keep me comfortable.

Having used a pellet stove as primary heat for 10 years I do not recccomend leaving your other pallet of pellets outside. Even wrapped up they will absorb moisture, soften and crumble resulting in fines. Pellet stoves hate fines and you will have to clean more often. Love our stove!

Excellent choice with the pellet stove! I've installed one from Tractor Supply in my cabin in north Florida, it works great! Be sure to store pellets inside a structure, away from moisture sources, they do tend to condensate and break down. Love ya'll ❤️

We have used these types of pellet stoves for 15 years they work well I recommend that you should have went with the 4-in stove pipe it makes the stove more efficient I also recommend that you have extra igniters on hand and an extra auger motor on hand cuz those are the parts that burn out the most over 15 years that was two stoves I changed one motor three igniters😮

Used pellet stoves for 20 years. First one was a manual start with manually filling the burn pot and using a gell starter every morning. Finally got an auto-start stove and moved the manual start to the garage/workshop. After a stroke, had to get rid of the stoves because my wife could not handle 40lb bags of pellets. Loved the stoves though. Had a wood stove for backup for the really cold days.

Good afternoon Damogran Heart. Subaru got one of two new ball joints yesterday. The old ball joint was destroyed. The brakes were 3/4 depth of pad so I didn't replace them. I'll save them for a future brake job. It looks like someone just did the constant velocity joints too so my son's in luck. I was hoping to see that the front axle was in good shape. It's getting so close to a road test! I hope your garden is put to bed for the winter. I'm making apple cider vinegar. Have a great rest of your week!

Al, I would recommend getting wall mount propane boiler for back up: Easy to install, no mess inside, and you could run it off 20 lb tanks if needed. Rianni makes a combo boiler that will also do hot water. This is what I use & I have radiant floor heat. I installed the boiler myself so its not very difficult & I am sure you would have no problems. Don't forget to add Sentinal X100 to your boiler loop to stop the corrosion issues (I can see the rust build up in your system installed in the home).

a wall mount propane boiler was his original game plan. We'll see what he eventually settles on. BTW, in his climate a 20 pound propane tank may frost up in cooler weather due to high fuel draw. More than likely he will go with larger tanks when the time comes.

@@guytech7310 yeah, but keeping / storing propane inside is not a good idea. Besides, if he's gonna use propane anyway, he might as well buy it cheaper in quantity and in a larger tank outside. I believe he's got a 500 gallon tank buried at the house so he knows the deal. BTW, I'm amazed he hasn't consider an inexpensive gas heater as a back up at the house. Flip a switch and done. Takes up 2 sq ft, which is less than the stove. Can also use a similar chimney.

@@rupe53 Well like I stated for an emergency use. Tank can be stored in a Shed or the workshop building, & brought inside when neeeded. I have buried 1000 gal propane tank outside, but have my boiler set up so I can use a 20 lbs tank inside. When I was building the house I used the 20 lbs tanks with a forced air Propane burner. No issues. Had a CO monitor, but it never went off.

It amazes me that you have not had a frost. I can't remember the exact date but it was a week ago or maybe longer that we had a couple of days of frost. Central Missouri

Hi there, nice job with the stove. The shop has a pretty good height inside, what about having a cople fans at the ceiling to push the heat down and get the temperature more even, or else moust of the heat will stay upp high and not where you want it.

Good morning Lumnahs. Has 500+acers wood land, buys a pellet burner. lol. Transportable? Kinda. I would either have just put a wood burner in or an Air to Air heat pump, You have solar and batteries and only need to keep it frost free and crank it up when your in the shop.

He explained why the pellet stove..I'm sure he knows he has 500 acres of other resources....keeping shop warm..but in case of break down of their wood boiler they have an emergency back up..why do others need to judge others choices..

@@4Classie He mentions it indirectly when saying he was undecided on what the source will be. Of course that's another week long project and a wood burner can be done in a day, with the side benefit of warming up faster than a floor system, which is meant to maintain temp.
