When a guy loses his job, no matter how well his replacement plays and the team improves overall, it's considered proper etiquette to keep the celebration subdued because, obviously, to celebrate one guy is to de facto disparage the other. So that post-game celebration on the sideline last week, and the fact that some of the Jets players posted photos of the love-scrum on social media, says all we need to know about how the players feel about Zach Wilson. It's one thing to celebrate, but to do it on the field in front of the cameras, and then for some players to double down with the online photos, well...that's a not at all ambiguous statement to Zach Wilson which says not only "we're glad you lost your job," but also "we don't care how you feel about it." And that is remarkable. After seeing that, asking whether of not Zach Wilson "lost the locker room" is ridiculous--obviously he did. The only question is whether or not the rest of the team's dislike for him is so strong that it might seriously impact their morale if he were to take the field again. And we got an answer to that question from the fact that Wilson wasn't just benched, he was all but cut--last Sunday he didn't dress, wasn't standing on the sideline with a headset and/or clipboard, and barely seemed to be part of the team. He's not being included in the offense at all, which you'd think the Jets would want to do if they realistically thought he might be able to "reset" and get back on the field at some point this season or next. But he is so disliked by the rest of the team, and/or his play has been so terrible (probably both), that the Jets organization has given up on him. He'll never see the field again in a Jets uniform; in the off-season they'll trade him for a late late draft pick and a handful of beans, and that will be the end of Zach Wilson's New York experience.

Mike White knows what He's doing out there. His quick release is excellent. His footwork is on point. Zach always looks and his footwork stnks when it comes to a pocket QB. Zach leaves the pocket early even when there is no pressure. Zach is definitely a long way from being a good QB. He really needs to learn the basics over again.

In order for the Jets to even begin to entertain reinstituting Zach Wilson as the starter again, I believe that there would have to be a dramatic shift, in terms of how the locker room views him. Every player will tell you, that cliche terms like "momentum," and "finding your stride," are real. And equally, so is the term "gelling," in reference to where teammates develop a strong team mentality, and a strong sense of direction and purpose, leading to a better understanding of each other's style of play, making them a much more cohesive, and effective unit overall. I just feel at this point he's to disliked, and resented for guys to develop this necessary cohesion. If guys don't respect you, and respect your opinion, they will not look to you as a leader. In the minds of the players, a leader cannot just be designated. They have to be chosen, and that choice, I feel, comes from the overall development of respect. Which has to be earned. I do not think that Zac Wilson, in his present state of mind, can command the respect needed, to become a super bowl caliber team, from his teammates. Plain and simple. Could that change??? Yes it could. But I think it starts w/ him, first and foremost.

I'm not even a jets fan but from what I've seen it just wouldn't make sense for them to not play M.White I think everyone ( besides z. Wilson) would agree that Mike white has performed and the team altogether seems to all be paddling in the same direction, and this is not just from the chi game, when he was starting earlier in the season when Zach was out he looked good. Z. Wilson has that look on his face like he thinks he is entitled, better than everyone else and from the energy of the other players it seems to be felt the same way.

He was asked why the Jets didn’t take as many shots downfield like they did the 1st time they played where he threw for over 300yds. He was answering why they didn’t throw downfield as much. I would say that Zach Wilson ran into a very steep hill that is the NFL. His college football record didn't include that many competitive teams, like the ones QB's face in the SEC. I still think he has great potential, but he's going to have a huge workload to become a true starter in the league.

Mike, I live in NYC and follow the Jets. The simple equation is, Zach Wilson isn’t advancing as fast as the team has. Both the back ups in Mike White and Joe Flacco are more fundamentally sound and advanced than ZW. So because the team wants to win now, Mike White is the fitting replacement. Zach Wilson has been very accountable through all the previous post game interviews. He made this one verbal gaffe from Connor Hughes question, and suddenly he’s not accountable. Bottom line, Zach Wilson is a long term developmental project. Because the team wants to compete now, no one wants to wait for him to grow. The team will be behind whichever QB’s performing well and giving them wins. Zach who probably should have sat one season before playing, isn’t ready for that now. He needs at least 3 years before judging who he is. Giving up on him now will be deemed premature.

Just a thought from a Utah local that lives by where Zach Wilson grew up- The "rich boy" comments made about him are accurate but fail to tell the whole story. Zach Wilson grew up a University of Utah fan. His dad played football for Utah, he went to all the Utah youth training summer camps, blah blah blah. How do I know that? Because when Zach Wilson went to BYU back in 2018, his parents cried to our local media for the entire season about how butt hurt they were that Utah didn't even try to recruit their boy. They felt that they were entitled for Utah to at least look at him, and they made sure that everybody knew it. On top of that, he goes to BYU where they idolize the QB position so he got his ego stroked there. And nobody heard about him because he was a mediocre QB at BYU his first two years where they went 7-6 and then 2020 covid season came around where BYU got to beat up on bad programs, and suddenly Zach Wilson makes a name for himself. So yeah, he's a rich boy that comes from privilege and entitlement and he learned it all from his parents. Good luck with him, Jets!

Zach Wilson has Physical talent. Really depends on what Mike White does with this opportunity. Yes he played a great Game against the Bears Defense, what we need to see is consistency in performance. Can he beat the Vikings? If so the question becomes Can he beat the Bills next? If he loses to the Bills you get some argument that Zach was able to. Mike White needs to win more than lose to have this job. At the end of the day as a fan I want to win, I don't care who is driving. I'm sure Wilson can cry into his millions somewhere else. Same with White as I think at the very least he's shown to be someone competent who can lead a team.

Zach Wilson story makes me hate things like espn and people like Colin cowherd. Zach Wilson was average in college and only got the 2nd overall pick because these people looked at his pro day and claimed to see him as “the next Patrick mahomes” so jets jumped on that ban wagon and went for a player that never was him while having the expectations of a 2nd overall pick. Hell this same story happens every year for at least one nfl qb in the draft. Due to how great mahomes is every year people look at someone’s college career and claims that they’re the next Patrick mahomes when in truth it will never happen. In 2019 people kept drawing kyler comparisons to mahomes, 2020 Love was getting those comparisons, 2021 zach was getting those comparisons and none of them have lived up to it because nobody can be Patrick mahomes. Hell, right now it’s happening again in 2023 with Caleb Williams when Caleb is playing like an average college qb but people like cowherd keep picking one college qb every year to call the next “Patrick mahomes”

Shouldn't you also keep a bit down to earth? Zach Wilson this year has a 5:2 record, that's not that bad; he lost only to the Patriots, in fact. Yes, his last was a crappy performance, and his comment was utterly stupid - but why celebrate Mike White that much? He has started 4 games overall in almost five years of being in the NFL, how is that showing his great potential?

I thought it was dumb to draft Wilson while we still had Darnold when he already went through his inexperience phase and just needed the playmakers & offensive line to give him the best opportunity to showcase his talent like Wilson has as they should’ve drafted Penei or chase early if staying in the top 5 but really wanted Parsons and draft capital for the future but the 2022 draft picks were all hits plus free agent acquisitions as we’re Lucky we signed White, because Zach is just to young minded to be the guy right now, but we still have plenty of time to watch him grow because I think he’s better than any 4th or 5th round pick that they ean get for him as he will come back & be great & haunt & destroy them

Ironic, but ZW is now the backup. MW has the starting job in the foreseeable future. There's bound to be some bad performances along the way. Right now he's the breath of fresh air and the feel good story but that ends very quickly and especially in NY. I think after a few MW poor outings, there will be the inevitable rumblings to reinsert ZW. For the team and Zach's benefit, I hope that doesn't happen because his issues don't look correctable in just a few weeks; need an offseason program.

Never liked Zack Wilson. I thought that Justin Fields should have been the Jets pick for quarterback. I hoped that Wilson would have saved my team, because I am a Jets Fan, but I have had my doubts. White doesn't have to win the Viking Game...he just doesn't have to look terrible if he loses.

If the QB doesn't fit the scheme, the players on the offense, the coaching staff, it's not gonna work most times. Coaching is so important to be able to pivot smoothly and then move ahead with new thoughts is so important.

I think the Jets hold the kid and he sits behind Mike "effing" White and learns how to be a leader!! They have his rights for 3more seasons. If he doesn't want to turn into Josh Rosen,he grows and becomes the dynamic QB the JETS thought they were drafting as he sits and learns how to get to his 2nd,3rd read and not panick. If he keeps a good attitude as a backup, a willingness to learn, and otherwise acts like a pro, the Jets should keep him. Coach him up as the backup in the offseason and training camp, build his value during the season by his still being professional whether he plays or not, then trade him for what you can get. Anything else, he gets cut. Teams try him out. He bombs. Career over before 2023 training camps even start.
