Coming from an diehard Eagles fan and lifelong cowboys and Jerry Jones hater, I can’t believe I’m actually defending Jerry Jones of all people. His response is very believable. If an altercation of any kind occurred at my school when I was 14 I’d absolutely be there to witness it for the fear of missing out. That one photo provides absolutely zero context for what he was doing there, other than just curiously onlooking. Not to mention even if he was involved, he was 14 and this was 65 years ago. Lebron is Starting to look like he has cte , this was an entire school-crowd 65 years ago , the world was very different then . The only way to avoid this was for jerry, was to predict this day and move away. Jerry has spent more of his own money bailing-out black team mates, than most people ever save in their lifetime. Mike irving stabs a guy in the neck with scissors,(for not giving up his seat at the barber) , jerry paid the guy off (million ish) , and mike kept catching passes (not the only time he covered for mike) . Oddly enough, the most “controversial” things done by jones are “helping” black players after crimes . Definitely NOT racist. Lebrons “spin” is defamation. If you have to go back 65 years to slam someone who is in the public eye for so long ? Ask mike irving if jerry is racist???? He’s known the man for 30ish years …

A couple of things, Sept 4th, 1957 was the start of the typical school year which came after Labor day (Sept 2nd), and it has only been since the 1990s that school years have started ridiculously in August. This was due to the fact that many schools prior to that time do not have AC so starting school in summer was miserable. So when Jerry Jones went there, this was the first day of the school year. It then took 20 more days until the POTUS demanded the students to be let in and the National Guard escorted them in. In addition, EVERYONE there knew what was happening, the parents at the school were informed about the 9 black students who requested to be enrolled and that's why they SUCCESSFULLY blocked the students from entering the school. The Gauntlet the black students had to walk through was a lot of Jerry Jones, white people who had NEVER wanted black students in their school. In that picture, he is not doing anything but looking, but to be that close to the situation you knew EXACTLY what was going on. If this white man owned it he would say "I was a victim of my time and caught up in a historical event that I could have never imagined I would forever be immortalized in with this photo."

I have a take on this as someone who has a similar experience. I was down in South Florida for my aunt's funeral, and I was having a pretty wine-sodden discussion with an older cousin of mine who is politically very different from me. Yeah, I was drunk off my ass, but anyways, according to her, there was similar tension between my Irish and Italian families, as a result of how olive the complexion of a different aunt of mine's skin was. This Jerry Jones photo is similarly enlightening as to how even worse the situation was between blacks and whites, and as someone who is by certain extension a product of those days, I don't exactly want to go back to those days myself. We need more mixed-race families, and we are lucky we even have some of them them today. We need more people born with a wide range of lived experiences, and the lessons that have been previously learned the hard way, to glean from. We need people who have ideals and principles to live by, and are pragmatic and can inch life to a better state than they found it. It just seems like people today want to stay in their limited tribes and that they don't want to burst their own bubbles.

I think the biggest differences are that it was 60 decades ago, he was a lot younger than Kyrie at the time and it's a little ambiguous what he was doing there. While I believe he was probably part of the keep segregation crowd, it makes things easier in the media that it's not clear. None of that is to say there wasn't a lot of issues with the way the Kyrie situation went down.
