This credit card scam could have you tipping MORE than you think

$27.00 pre-tax is what they are leading you to believe you are tipping on. But as an example: I'm in BC $27.00+5% (food & restaurant tax) = 28.35 then add the "15%" tipping option. 28.35 × 15% = 32.60

This happened to me at a spa once and never again lol I know just carry a little extra cash for a tip or put in a dollar amount….No% tip anymore 🤦🏾‍♀️

The Ontario Provincial Government pulls this crap with the hst. You don’t get charged the 8% provincial portion if you buy a prepared food or beverage for $4 or less. But say you buy 5 coffees in one order for you and your co-workers the total bill is dinged a full 8% provincial portion of the HST. Doug Ford needs to fix/axe this discrepancy.😂😂

Even fast food places have interac machines that ask for a tip. So its not just restaurants.

1:02 The machine says tip is calculated before discounts. Now there is no discounts listed there, but that may be how they are justifying it. Your dinner was actually $50, but it’s discounted 50% in some fine print and listed menu price you see is $25, so you’re paying $25. Screen says $25, but suggested tip is based on the $50 price. Just a thought.

I always try to tip with cash. Some of the tip sharing policies aren't that fair. Especially when the manager or maitre 'd gets a cut for basically doing f... all.

I always click 18%. I see the price there. It shows you how much It's adding on to your bill and it doesn't bother me If it's a dollar or two off. As long as the workers are getting it, I'm fine with it.

Not every place is dishonest, I went to an income tax service to get my taxes done. I paid the fee, thinking it was a little on the high side and when I got home I had an email stating they overcharged for the service by $35 and a cheque would be sent in the mail. I received that cheque two weeks ago.

The machine also charges the tip on your after tax bill which is illegal people 💸💸💸🚧🇨🇦🚨🚔. Most countries around the world include all taxes, fees and gratuities into the prices displayed that we pay. Love traveling to those countries ✈️☀️
