When the first time my brother saw my periods stain, he thought i got hurt so he directly went to my mom and told her that i got hurt and bleeding... When my mom know what happened she told him what periods is... She told him that i will be in so much pain so he always should take care of me... This happened when he was 14 years old... Now he is 24 till now he is the one who brought me pads and he never ashamed of it... He even bought me chocolates along with it and help me doing house chores ❤

Some men just really don't like women and get uncomfortable regarding their health and biology. Like when my dad was alive, no one was allowed to even utter the words "period" or "menstrual cycle" because he didn't like it. My mom and sisters had to keep their products hidden because if dad saw them, he would flip out and throw a fit because he "didn't want to see them." I remember one time my sister got her period and they were out of products, she asked my dad to get some for her and just the thought of buying pads grossed him out so he straight up told her no, do it yourself. So I had to walk to the store and buy her some pads because she was too embarrassed and scared of bleeding through her pants in public, and our dad was too apathetic to help her out.

It's sick that we're taught to be ashamed of having periods. I used to take pride in keeping sanitary pads well hidden. I remember being really happy when a female shopkeeper helped me carefully wrap the pads in newspaper. I remember my mother and me going silent when my brother or even younger sister entered the room. Then I realised that it wasn't something to be proud of. I am a woman and I'm comfortable being woman. I taught my younger brother about periods. I stopped hiding sanitary pads. Stopped shopping for them like a thief and openly placed them on the shopping cart. Stopped looking away at sanitary products' advertisements. Stopped not entering the puja room on periods. And I'm so happy I did. I can live openly now and life has really been soo much better like this.

In order to explain periods a boy first know what is a vagina, what is ovary & how does ovulation happens. If you try explain that boys would figure out a lot of sexual stuff in matter of weeks. I'm so glad my family isn't like that. My brothers (cousins since my real one is way to young) know abt this and they always used help me during my periods. Us three had to often stay home alone and whenever I used to get mine they'd be so sweet they'd help so much. My eldest cousin once went out in the pouring rain to get me some pads bc we'd ran out. Thank god I have understanding biology teacher (male one), my little brother, my dad and male classmate.. They all understand about period.. One time I was in bad stomach cramp and doesn't feel comfortable for sitting straight and the class was Biology subject so I thought it will be awkward for telling the teacher for having the period so my male friend help ask the teacher if I could put my head on the table as if we were sleeping in school and the teacher if it due to period yes as long as we are comfortable to continue study.. Though I'm male i can still relate to this problem because i was suffering from daily bed wetting till the age of 21 and I had to use sheets to cover the bed before sleeping in order to avoid the bed from getting ruined. They would have had their periods and teased by the boys for years before the school would have went over it, then. My school taught it in 7th grade, and all of the girls laughed because almost everyone in our class had already gotten their period at that point. We were like...a little too late, school. It's useless to teach these things after they happen tbh. It should be taught before the ages it usually happens so girls arent scared when it happens, and boys dont get scared or tease them when they see a girl have blood on their pants.

To all moms with sons - pl educate your sons to handle periods so they can become mature understanding men. I discussed very openly with my son about periods when he was 10 years old. When he was 12 years old, he one day saw a girl hiding in the girls bathroom. He went up to the entrance n asked her if she wants anything. She asked him to fetch the class teacher. He understood the problem, went to the school nurse n asked for a sanitary pad which he delivered to the girl. His reasoning was that if the class teacher left the class then everyone would ask questions which would embarrass the girl even further. The nurse, the girls as well as the teachers were all praise for him. All girls told me that they wish other moms also educated their sons in same manner. I forgot to mention, my son is an only child. But he gained 26 sisters in one day when the girl shared this story with her classmates.😊

And when we came back to class, when boys asked what we were taught we used to reply "Self defence" instead of saying periods🤦‍♀️. I also believe such sessions should be common for both boys and girls. That was back in 2015-16, idk if things have changed now in schools or not. A good change is that now period ads shown have red liquid instead of the misleading blue over here. Also since internet is cheap and accessible and almost every kid spends hours watching it, they would probably come across this topic very easily through videos.

My elder brother was a pcb student and I had pcod so we used to openly talk abt it,in fact he would legit explain how those contraceptive pills actually also treat pcod if taken right as per consultation of doctor. I used to hesitate as a teenager, but it was my mom who taught me not to be ashamed of it,I can talk freely abt it with my dad and brother and so can they with me. One time in class I was on my period and the the teacher was taking about organs and I felt like I was gonna pass out or throw up. I just assumed that i was grossed out but I felt awful. It was a terrible situation because I didn’t even know what hot flashes were. I was also sitting next to a boy and he happened to look over I was extremely flushed which was really embarrassing.

​@@Dox0087 of course it's natural,but most of the time our female society doesn't allow us to speak out about these in front of any male... And if someone is able to talk freely nd the opposite gender understands, it's literally a good thing.
