I think the chalky residue comes from the release agent they spray into the truck bed before loading with Asphalt. The heat of the Asphalt bakes it on good. I was delivering to a concrete plant a few years ago, the wheel wash hadn’t been cleaned for so long, the concrete dust from all the trucks had mixed in with the wheel wash water and covered my truck in a weak concrete slurry 🫣 took all weekend to get it all off. Great job on this one ❤

Could have saved a bundle and got more bang for your money with the active 2.0 or the new 2.3 way under what you paid starting at $350 with true 2.0 gpm flow especially for semi vs regular dirt on a car. The mix of dust semi’s come in contact vs your average personal vehicle is much more diverse and way harder to clean. Back in my day 30 years ago we used some pretty harsh chemicals to clean the stacks and aluminum, technology and chems have come so far but nothing beats a good contact wash. Good video.

I feel like the foam quality coming out has a lot to do with the oriface in the foam cannon itself, to the PSI to GPM ratio of the machine. Which is why you were getting better foam quality with the lower PSI machine.. MTM has a calculator you plug in your pressure washer specs to and it gives the proper oriface size to the ratio.

pressure and flow are different metrics. Plug the end and measure the pressure.
@ChemX4 ай бұрын
The rated psi is when the wand is plugged? I could see a manufacturer using that spec and saying look what psi this can build to so they can show a higher number, but in the commercial power washer world the psi rating is what you get when your using it for real
@yankeedoodle76934 ай бұрын
@ChemX if you read the marketing, on the ryobi it says "Up to 2000 psi"- now the PW101 standard calls for NOT blocking the outlet for maximum pressure, but the whole thing with advertised maximums seems kinda scammy with these.

Hey Bob... is there any plan to develop a powdered version of Heavy Duty like you did for S&S? I'm the one who asked before about smaller batches for us noncommercial people that don't need 5 gals at a time because we just use it for personal vehicles. Because of my back and other mobility issues, it's tough for me to hand-wash, so S&S is a lifesaver to help me keep my truck and Kubota RTV500 reasonably clean. Being able to buy your products in something like those 2QT Crystal Light drink-mix packets would be AWESOME! Just dump it in and BAM! Half gallon of full strength HD or S&S

I love your stuff, Bob!!! Keep up this mad scientist crap! It's very cool to see what your chems can do on all these different application methods! This experimentation stuff is one of the reasons I became a customer. I appreciate the "let's see what happens" attitude! Adam Savage of Mythbusters talked about a guy they worked with, and that guy said "The difference between Science and Fucking Around is writing shit down!" It's all about documentation, which you do with your videos... And that makes it FOR SCIENCE! Also, I'm sort of a semi-willing RYOBI "fanboy". I say it that way because I'm deep in their 18v "ONE+" ecosystem because of early-life tool gifts from family, and I just haven't been able to talk myself into abandoning all my tools and batteries I've received over the years and into a new line. One of the big things that's actually great about RYOBI is that their ONE+ series of battery tools has used a single design of battery pack since it was introduced in 1996. They've improved design, capacity, and chemistry over the 28 YEARS the ONE+ system has been sold, but even now, their brand new "EDGE" tabless 21700-cell-based Lithium batteries will still work on my "Ol' Blue" original RYOBI drill that I was first given back in high school... and YES my 28 year old RYOBI drill STILL WORKS! The only thing I've done to that drill is replaced some brushes and basic motor maintenance. That's some Home DIY-er love right there. Now, you've got the 40V units, but I had the 18V version of the hand sprayer, and I've always treated it just like you've said... as a powered pre-sprayer. It was good for places I couldn't get a hose out to by using a couple 5-gal buckets in the back of my UTV, but that was really about all. It's also good to toss that filtered inlet in a lake or pool as a water source for spraying green slime off pool toys and washing off fishing gear and my boat deck. Handy, but no real power to speak of. If you're wanting to play with my favorite RYOBI blower, it's pistol-grip type (like a drill) called the PSBLB01B Compact Blower. It's REALLY good at getting into tight spaces, and the nozzle tip is rubber, so it's like it was designed with detailers in mind. I don't have a compressor for those Tornado air nozzles, so I use this to blow out my truck before I vacuum.
@ChemX4 ай бұрын

This is from running in salt, liquid or reg and wet roads and not washing it for weeks. Foaming it won't touch it. At times it would take 2 brush washes to clean it off so it wasn't noticeable. The stains in the back from high lift gate pins, salt and rust running out from running and sitting. I don't miss any of this. Specially not having a place to wash inside in winter. I agree 100%, even sleeves would barley keep the metals off you tho, under my mask I was still covered somehow, that stuff gets absolutely everywhere

Dude! Who makes that light?? I want to put one on my pressure washer wand, but I’m struggling to find one that doesn’t have remote momentary switches or picatinny mounts!

@@ChemXawesome looking forward to it. Also if you’re still looking for a well maintained truck to try the ryobis on, I got a white f450 I wash multiple times a week, but I’d be willing to let it go for a week or 2 for you, if my boss will let me. I’m on the south shore so it would be easy to get out there to agawam
