for the professor and santi match, professor HAS to avoid the cats. The cats are a death sentence, while moving back gives him a chance. IDV is all about those little chances. If Professor didn't do risky things to avoid the cats, he would've 100% lost because his kiting depends on having his skill active and causing the hunter to hesitate on hitting. The same with seer! For someone like psychologist getting hit by the cats vs getting a regular ann hit doesn't matter as much, but for a prof and seer it makes the difference. Getting catted = hit, avoiding cats = chance to use skill to block hit. it's a gamble that any prof or seer should reasonably take in those positions. Also, IDV is very dependent on match ups. That's why FO has risen up (not that he wasn't used pre-Ivy, but there was a def boom post-Ivy). Characters like gardener are still niche in rank because they're only really good against opera, while prospector is universally good against 4/5 of the top hunters (ivy, opera, soul weaver, and ann, and maybe even wax artist too if you're goated). That doesn't mean raw kiting isn't useful ofc, but match ups do help a LOT. Also, i know there's a lot of talk for hunter confidence, but you need more confidence in your plays. You're a good player Zeez! But sometimes you doubt your movements and don't try anything risky. Like when you were against Santi's lizard, the double pallets could've bought you more time. Even if you're not confident in your mind games, it buys extra time. You gotta have that player audacity. When you're solo kiting against santi those small seconds don't matter much, but in actual games every little second counts. Even the act of creating a mindgame b/ween double pallets buys extra time. ESPECIALLY if you win them, it allows you to transition easier to new pallets. Also, I would love to see more videos of you analyzing pros! Maybe with a few others like zeus n santi to see their opinions? I think having more opinions on what the players are doing can help you out. I know the players here got kinda cooked by the hunters lol, but still :]

what i saw with the professor kite that i dont think alot of people saw was ✨predictability✨ professor always knew optimal ways for the hunter to use cats so he was able to predict it. He basically knew when cats were gonna be used waited then doubled back he isn't reacting to the plays he knew they were coming and waited i also noticed the professor broke line of sight very often and forced santi in the open rather than santi hiding himself on another note you can play like professor and double back on ann if she sends cats near you if you have flywheel or if the cipher is primed (sorry for the 0 punctuation i just couldn't be bothered)

Hi zeez! I have some things to recommend.. 1. You should ask santi to save replays of when he loses (which I understand doesn’t happen a lot lol) so you can spectate the survivors and see what they do (assuming that he has replays on) 2. It doesn’t sound like it would help but playing against the geisha nightmare bot in customs surprisingly made me so much better at pallet mind games.. it helped me realise how the placement of the hunter can start to indicate if they’re going to go through the pallet or bait the drop or anything.. I do really recommend it ! It does get a bit boring but it did really help me! If you do try it I hope it helps!

as someone who held the s1 melly badge for awhile earlier in this season, i definitely understand you and relate to that feeling of wanting to improve and kite as well as your friends can, and its definitely demotivated me at times feeling like im lacking in something when others succeed at kiting certain characters i cant 😭. i think the most i have learned is different hunters will either play super aggressively or super calm and patient, and the patient hunters is what scares me the most. seeing you try psych and do so well on her has inspired me to try her out next season and try not to stick to one character so much and branch out. everyone learns and adapts at their own pace to game that plays so differently and unpredictably every match. thank you for posting videos like these, i really enjoy learning more about kiting and spectating people!

I could be wrong but I think the reason why finn said im stuck and did the confused emote was because of the merc. Merc was in the middle of the pallet trying to block off the hunter but when the hunter went around and shot his fog, finn was trying to run through that pallet but merc got in the way. .(. So finn was prob confused on what merc was doing

another comment cause i have more to say cause ur awesome!! this game is SOOOO unpredictable, these are real people you are playing with or watching, it's never gonna go how you wish it will and that's okay, mistakes are bound to happen, higher players like santi are going to see things that you don't or know what to do in certain situations because they have more experience, learning takes time and with time comes skill, you are so good as this game, don't beat yourself up!

a lot of people tend to have their own ways of kiting or chasing, and that is what helps them do good in matches, so just because you aren't super similar to the pros doesn't mean you are bad, figuring out the game and your style of playing at your own speed is okay too but i understand the way you look for tips and try with advice, but don't think you're bad because everyone plays differently!

Rotation is very good against most hunters and on most maps but it not always best! take for example, if you know the hunter spawned near you and you spawned in a crappy area yes then thats when you need to rotate. But say you spawn in pretty good area with the hunter around you then theres no reason to leave. take match 3 with acrobat, He knew who the hunter was(the winds sounds) yes he had a general idea where NW was coming from(spawn selection) bsay acrobat had decided to rotate into the building to go on two story, kite was most likely ended much earlier. For every character you’re gonna have different kiting routes ofc but who the hunter is and where both you and the hunter spawns is very important to keep note of hiding is a decent strat but especially in high tiers it becomes harder to do efficiently, hunters will know where you spawn and with good game sense will have some idea where you wanna go. you just gotta know when you hide and where!

*chuckles* well your friend is a pro correct so he most likely at this point knows where players will kite to, the strongest kiting areas on maps, if he’s good with multiple hunters then it’s most likely he’s got CDs memorized, knows which characters are weakest, and then like mentioned can “manipulate” so know how to use weaknesses and most likely your own nerves against you. One thing I learned (not here but talking to other players) if a hunter knows your scared they will immediately use that to their advantage by checking how you kite, where you use your skills, how you use your skills, all of that. I’ve been told so many times I’m a panic kiter and blamed a lot for thrown matches but funny sometimes my matches can get ties or I’m the last one standing and get dungeon. So I must be doing something right. Also isn’t when it comes to the freaking pallets that there’s a thing on the web builds where you drop it faster and hunters have a thing on their web where survivors drop it slower? I feel like that also comes into play with the mind games on pallets. I never win mine. I rarely hit a hunter unless they’re desperate and even then it’s not consistent. One other thing ping does matter so I’m laughing at this 30/40 whatever number mentioned cuz I’m usually at 112-120 ping. Sometimes higher. I’ve never had good ping so automatic reflexes not a thing over here. Also if your friend is good with warps as they are the blinks that’s another good way to “manipulate” because warp does cut off your kiting area and can redirect you. And hunters if they’re smart will know that so they’ll know you double back which puts them at a better advantage of a hit. If there’s a pallet between the warp and you guaranteed hit. Or they’ll force out your flywheel but manage to still hit you after you vault. Like I don’t think it’d necessarily bad I think it’s just this guy has been to the pros he’s most likely got that game knowledge that only comes from practicing relentlessly. And it’s like you and Zeus(?) have said psychologist is a raw kiter; she’s good but she has no way of defending herself. Embalmer does but if his coffin is gone he’s dead. Psychologist after 2 hits she’s dead. Like yes obviously there’s high ranking pros with these characters but I think it comes down to the map, the hunter, the knowledge of the game, your teammates, your ping, and how the hunter will play. Good hunters know not to tunnel specific characters like wildling, acrobat, sometimes seer depending(?), priestess, sometimes doc (?), prospector, magician, first officer, sure others I’m missing but they will go after ones like melly (sorry), dancer (she’s good but she’s a raw kiter who boxes are so hit and miss she really needs time to set them up and put herself in a good position otherwise she’s dead weight), minds eye, grave keeper, embalmer, Finn (depends?), enchantress, mechanic, thief, painter, toy merchant. Then your 5o/50 characters [as in 50/50 chance the hunter will chase them first either to wear down their items or they’re spawned closer?] coord, antiquarian, cheerleader, mercenary, gardener, barmaid, cowboy, patient, psychologist, ganji, football guy. Like…. I’ve heard so many things like “go after the harassers first” “go after embalmer first” “go after priestess first” “go after the decoders first ONLY” “go after psychologist first ONLY” “go after painter first” “go after the character with disposable items first” and now with ivy/opera singer I feel like that’s really changed? Like you mentioned in past videos hunters will not go after prisoner first. They’ll go after someone like barmaid, gardener, the guy who flies, antiquarian, whoever. And you look at that list and it’s like “those are kiters/harassers/ppl with disposable items when prisoner/lawyer are right there!” But they do that now. Heck one of the videos I watched one of the matches literally felt like the hunter only wanted psychologist to be their first down and it’s like you know she can tank kits. You know this WHT are you chasing her? She’s a raw kiter yeah but she’s a tank. I’m getting off topic here what I mean is I really do think there is so much RNG that in order for higher players to succeed you need specific situations and then those situations expand so then you can learn either from a hunters perspective or a survivors perspective on top of also keeping up with the meta in this game so then your own experience plus game experience plus game knowledge all becomes one big mess of things you can easily pull from. I’m not a high rank player I’m back down in elk man I’m getting 4k’d by crocs and spiders and hydra hunters in custom mode. But my own experience plus my very little game knowledge pretty much has kept me where I am in the game and I’m fine with that. All of this to say I think it’s just doing what you do consistent enough until it becomes very second nature in different parts. I mean the fact you got that high in the tiers in what a year? Kinda proves you learned a lot but there’s more learning to be had so not entirely “mistakes” more of just learning and analyzing and playing a lot. This is just me though that’s my Yap fest ow my hands cramped. Overall funny video I felt so bad for that one prospector. his nerf coming really scares me for QMs I do . ((Oh and anyone reading this I’m aware I left so many characters out but I’m typing on an iPad and I, not here to argue on who is the stronger character I don’t care I main embalmer and magician and sometimes psychologist which ppl have told me are the worst and cheapest survivors to main so like sue me for referencing only half the cast I was making a point just cutting it short also watch some of those tournament matches and look who they chase after and don’t chase after. It’s consistent with ivy and opera singer but other hunters it’s so mixed even with “meta” in play))

I think I can answer why pros don’t look behind them all too much and I think it’s probably because idv has directional sounds, which I believe is more prominent after the new engine update, especially if the player has headphones on, but uh- it’s why hunters will sometimes whip around and go the other way to another survivor bc they could hear them, so my best answer is they’re actually listening to what the hunters doing - personally I don’t play with headphones nor is my attention span that large that I can yap and focus, so the most I do is listen for if they’re breaking a pallet or vaulting a window but yk

28:17 A lil tip: I often try to make the hunter think I will make the vault when there's a situation like this and from then I either go into a different direction (depending if there are more other pallets to work with) or continue to mind game for longer until I either die or vault safely. But of course it highly depends on the hunter and their hit range

The thing about Asia server and it's players some of them don't take quick matches seriously, and only do sui/ptk means suicide and protect the king and they basically throw the matches and bully the hunter to get points for dice. Ah yes watching the pros but it's elk in disguise fhdhahha the hiding throws me off tho maybe we should try that..? Idk And regarding that psych kite around 54.30 min where u say u get zero distance. You basically took the long route by vaulting the window without speedboost and then going straight and bane was able to just walk around everything in a straight line. You out nothing in between you and him and lost time bc vault with no speed boost. You either vault and then go right instead of straight to go an extra loop or straight to the pallet on the right and wait for your vault boost there. That's maybe something to keep in mind if you vault or interact with something without boost it makes u slower so u have to force the hunter to also interact to make them slower as well. So as soon as u realize no boost change the route to force the hunt to vault/interact 🤝🤝🤝🤝

I must fix this" and then the peak tiers you watch die instantly shshsh- This tells me that you're fine if you ask me ^^ 11:20 I thiiink your hitbox is a lil bigger when you crouch so the attempt was to force her further away when she dashes (not that it matters much after the optimization). 14:00 Zeez dies bc of bird 14:44 I think top players know when they have to look behind them - i.e. keeping track of cooldowns and using the heartbeat intensity as a guide as to how close the hunter is getting. 17:03 That's the COA offline event b-tier! Well ig this is a reminder that tiers are more quantity than quality most of the time. 43:40 I do think Santi is in a spot where the window's angle makes it likely you're either going straight or trying to loop back around - but Santi has no reason to follow your route through the window because both of those routes are faster/neutral to access by going right. I'm not sure if that's prediction or just moving optimally in a way that worked out. Maaaybe going left / behind you instantly would have been the play but that's doing 4D chess and can easily backfire if the hunter does straight chase you / follow your route. 51:38 ig Santi is more in the mindset that he should have been more patient with it. But I do think that was good and its important to not write off other people's success as your mistake. 55:00 I think if you don't have your kneejerk up there it's actually better not to vault? bc the time it takes you to vault is time you don't spend in hit speed boost. if that makes sense. I don't have any data to back up whether that actually makes a big difference but it's something I noticed.

as a top player / oldgen i'll say i almost never look behind me because i play so much that i know what the hunter can do and what the hunter is probably going to do. I know all the hunters hitboxes like the back of my hand. it's the same as knowing b4 legendary matches where you would just know where the hunter is based on where you spawn, i'm not gonna look around me when i know for a fact the hunter is coming from my right. idk if that makes any sense but i only look behind me if i'm trying to spot jack doing a foggy blade or where geisha is aiming her butterflies

Learning how to raw kite is a must, but once you go up the ranks, it's all about items and survivability. Unlike in tournaments where you might know what the hunter will do, in rank it's a roulette. Some hunters are not that good and you might just even mind-game yourself, then there are also the cracked ones. There's also the fact that in rank you get little to no support, so you have to do what you can to survive alone and pray you kite away from ciphers cos sometimes other people don't really ping. Kiting into ciphers get me really tilted and I do stupid stuff just to get away from a cipher, ruins my routing.

I am fairly certain that the reason why you aren't seeing a lot of these players looking behind them as much as you typically do is that they play on a mobile client, which requires you to have the dexterity to continue move forward while looking behind which can, at times, make you completely stop (or move towards the hunter if you are especially unlucky) if your finger slips. It's much riskier to flip the camera on mobile since misinputing is a greater risk so they probably don't want to end up stopping and prematurely ending their kites. Just in general, though, if you see someone mess something up in an extremely bizarre way, or avoid looking behind them, it's probably a mobile player problem as PC Identity V is kind of like a nice smooth ride vs mobile's extremely bumpy roads where any little slip of any finger can spell early kite death or failed rescue. And I would also say that mobile generally has worse problems with ping spiking... I've played IDV for four and a half years and have tried both and definitely do think that PC is kind of like mobile with training wheels. You would not believe all of the ridiculous problems you have to account for with mobile... Lol.

to be honest i wouldnt base everything off of u vs santi, kites against ann r usually pretty short and despite that only a percentage of matches r with ann, i think itd be better to try with other characters and not just ann
