This DISASTER is beyond WORDS | Watch Me RESTORE a Neglected Yard!

My long time viewers that have been following along for some time will be asking questions about the different house shown at the start of the video. Well, I've just upgraded to a bigger residence🎉. I'm still waiting for most of my new furniture to arrive, so that's why it looks a bit sparse in places. It's good, though, much more space compared to my old unit. I'm going to keep the unit and it will become a rental. And I will be a good landlord! Ok, back to the cleanup…so…some of you will probably remember this property because I've already done 5 episodes here. Back then I decided not to clean up the backyard and some of the front as it was just too crazy. Well, I've had a change of heart, and I'm back to finish off the whole lot. And when I say this yard is crazy, I mean CRAZY! It's full of blackberries, rubbish, old trees and what's left of the garden beds. To get this property back up to scratch, I would say it going to be quite a few episodes. I'm going to do the best I can here, as the homeowner really needs the help. I'm also going to go back over the work I've done, as I could have done better! I hope you enjoy the episode and stay tuned for the biggest transformation I've ever done - What a challenge! All up, I spent around 12 hours on this episode, including 4 trips to the landfill. This is episode 6 of who knows how many episodes. I still have the side and front to go!

Q: Where are you located?
A: I am from Hobart, Tasmania, Australia 🦘.
Q: Do you worry about snakes?
A: I have never even seen a snake in over 5 years on the job.
Q: Which equipment do you use?
A: Mostly STIHL power equipment (battery and petrol) and commercial Honda self-propelled mowers.
Q: How much do the jobs cost?
A: Sorry, I prefer not to talk about costs.
Q: Why don't you use tarps instead of bins?
A: Tarps are too difficult to move through small spaces and lift into the trailer. The same for wheelbarrows, they are only good for unloading the trailer!
Q: Why are the hot water cylinders outside?
A: I would say it's because Australia had a temperate to tropical climate, and therefore it doesn't matter that much if they are outdoors. To me, though, it seems a bit inefficient to have them outside in Tasmania with a temperate climate (coldish for 3 - 4 months per year). But that is industry standard down here 🤷‍♂️.
Q: Why don't you have help?
A: I've had many problems with employees in the past, so now I work alone.
Q: Why don't you have a ride-on mower?
A: Well, there are a few reasons.
1. I don't have the right trailer for a ride on, considering I always take away the green waste.
2. I don't have anywhere to store it, as my shed is too small.
3. A lot of the properties we do have fences and gates, so you can't actually get a ride-on on to the properties.
4. I don't do enough big jobs to justify spending 15k AUD on a stander, but it would be nice to have one!
5. I will get one as soon as my transport and storage problems are solved.
Q: What types of ladders do you use?
A: The large one is a Gorilla Adjustable Platform 150kg and the small one is a Gorilla Mighty 19. They are both adjustable.
Q: Who/what is Jim's Mowing?
A: Jim's Mowing is a franchise business. The Jim's Group is the biggest home services franchise in Australia.
Q: Why do you have 2 channels that seem the same?
A: Quick Cuts (my original channel) has music in the background. Quick Cuts V2 is for those that like just machine noise, and it doesn't have music.

hahaha, the more plants, then more work. I've got so much general maintenance to do before I start planting. Fix fences, paint fences, fix lawn (front and back), power wash the drive and back area, re-point a few areas, clean and power wash the gutters. Build privacy screens, plant privacy trees out the back....It's never ending 😂

I can recommend blackberries as a privacy screen. They​ also work to keep out intruders 😅@@QCV2

Oh my goodness. It’s unbelievable how densely packed those brambles are. Even the trash is packed in. Amazing the amount of work required to get rid of it all. Good job!
