For those that are history buffs I recognize this trend. Watches started off as a pocket item. The fads were are as a woman’s necklace (long chain), as a wristwatch and as a ring. All considered fads. 🤔🤔🤔
@squeakhawk0113 сағат бұрын
Yes, i have seen old women's watch rings. They were usually done in gold and the small clock was basically the jewel of the ring. They actually looked pretty neat. I believe they have made these in one form or another ever since.

I personally don't see problems with that. If there are people who want to buy, why not? To remember, originally, personal watches were pocket watches. If someone didn't decide to move to wrist, we would probably be using it as a pocket watch.

Let’s imagine it’s 1910, and we’re gathered in the town square of Elgin Illinois, where the President of Elgin is standing on a soapbox, making a speech. “My good people, I am here to alert you to a disturbing new trend! Pocket watches that some otherwise reputable firms are making to fit on the wrist! Come now, gentle people. Aren’t they called pocket watches for a reason?! Please, help me stop this disturbing, useless, and annoying new trend right now!” How is a wristwatch any more “necessary” than a finger watch? And if you like iconic watches, why is it bad to own one made in miniature … like scale models of cars and planes? As far as price goes … I can’t see how it’s any dumber to buy a finger watch for $150 than it is to buy a $1,000 Oris or whatever - when you can buy a perfectly serviceable Casio for $20. Someone is getting old. And thank god that for once it’s not me! As always, thanks for the entertaining video. And thanks for alerting me to this dangerous new trend. I might just get one when the price drops.

Just marvel at how far Casio has taken the whole watch thing - at one end of the catalogue you've got an exquisitely built titanium MR-G with a hand finished bezel by a master swordsmith costing £6,700, and at the other end you've got the Everyman disposable F-91W for £20. Because they sell millions of F-91Ws and maybe a few hundred swordsmith MR-Gs means that in terms of relative sales volume, this ring thing isn't actually in the cheap crap end of the catalogue... in Casio terms it's a premium product😂

I'm interested in an alternative: smart rings. My smartwatch is very useful... except it makes wearing normal watches tricky. You lose functionality if you enjoy your collection... or wear two watches and look like a berk. A smart ring linked to my phone allows me to monitor my health/sleep/exercise, be alerted to notifications, and still enjoy a mechanical piece. These though? I'm not a fan. Too small to be visible, too big to be comfortably slim on the finger

Watch is an accessory nowadays, it makes sense to be in the form of necklace pendant or rings. Better still, the ring watch is more meaningful to couple than wrist watch. Also, it is odd to wear >1 wrist watches but for ring watches, one can definitely wear >1 at any 1 time

This is not new - watch rings have just been dormant for years. I remember as a kid one of my aunts had a silver fingerring watch to match her bangle watch. Georg Jensen still produces bangle watches with Swiss quartz (ETA) movements, but I don't know if they also made the fingerring watch back in the day... bangle watches were more common back in the 1980's and 1990's - at least here in Denmark.
