My son lost everything when he had the car wreck. He was in the hospital for over a year. All the hospital social worker offered him was a cot at a shelter on skid row. I flew the 3000 miles to be with him. Bought a car and we lived in the UCLA Medical Center parking lot a year getting a motel two nights a week as that was all our budget could afford. There is NOTHING for a newly disabled to transfer to. He walks with a cane now and has one arm. It was so tough. However, the security at the medical center were always so kind.

I think the harsh reality of the truth is necessary. Which is how we worked on Overdose Prevention Sites. To any health professional: "do we treat homeless since they don't pay taxes" I pay taxes with great pain and effort, and I WANT YOU AND NEED YOU to treat all people, housed or not. I can't sleep with good conscience knowing that somebody was rejected for care because my tax dollars weren't used to help them. EVEN MORE if you work at a non-profit that benefits directly from tax cuts. Please, I beg you to use our collective tax money to help all people.

That doctor has no soul and shouldn't even be in the profession. People who are homeless might be doing things you never realized. Sometimes they are the ones on the street able to report crimes and act as witnesses. Sometimes they are the ones picking up litter and garbage. I knew a disabled man who walked with a cane and sat in a little park that was a bus stop, every day. He would pick up all the cigarette butts and garbage in the park and put them in the trash can. It wasn't the town doing it with tax dollars, it was him. He was always friendly and kind and not taking advantage of people.

In the US, lawmakers have made it against the law to sleep outside, allowing offenders to be arrested, and the law was upheld by the USA Supreme Court. Members of the Supreme Court go home to their cozy, roomy, expensive houses every night and sleep peacefully in their warm beds, without a thought or care for the most part about someone less fortunate that only has a few choices when it comes to sleep and one them might be to sleep on the streets. That’s how out of touch the Supreme Court is with the plight of homeless people in the USA.

Humanity demands that we take care of all people. Housing, health care, education should be a priority and a right living in this world. The rich people live a good life because they can afford to. 60% of America can’t afford the cost of housing and food along with rent. I am a Vietnam veteran about to become homeless in the richest country around in the world. America soon will be in tents and will be living in suburban areas around the cities where the billionaires have barbed wire around them to keep the new homeless population out of their neighborhoods. Oligarchs have taken over our country and they care nothing about others.

I know what it was like to be homeless in 2 separate situations. I was priced out of an apartment twice in 2 separate provinces. I have lived in several provinces in Canada. The government policies have failed the citizens. The Disability Department makes it difficult for people to apply and live on the measly amount of money given. Rental properties are overpriced and there is no regulation on rent prices. Shelters are not a solution. And in many cases it does create trauma. I know it is not easy but keep fighting back against the policy makers. ❤

You probably have to travel to meet the homeless people, plus others-and you are always eating fast food… get rid of sugar, 8 weeds no fruit!! Get off any dairy except cottage cheese and ricotta. The next one is endemic-everywhere !! Wheat-the hardest- wheat actually pushes your blood pressure-up, up, and beyond what your kidneys and liver can handle. You have been gaining a lot of weight-maybe take a look/listen-at Barbara O’Neill…big information and balanced ..Love what you do-have a brother in not so good situation…🤗❤️to you!!

No worries - people are people, and we shop and cook in the camps and even people in houses have the same privatized food! There's another way we fail, with food. We pay more to not provide public transportation, food, education, medical care - we're just unaware of how human rights and government responsibilities go together with peace and prosperity.

I have a question. Besides property tax, what taxes aren't the homeless paying? Income tax? A large portion of homeless people are employed. Sales tax? Duh... they pay sales tax. What else? Vehicle related taxes - registration, etc? Of the homeless that own vehicles, if they aren't paying to keep up the registration , then their paying in parking tickets. What the fuck else? Last question: what kind of med school doesn't catch that they are graduating a sociopath? I occurs to me that the med student in question has the exactly wrong mindset for practicing medicine.

I don’t know where his numbers come from, but it’s probably an average. Housing cost different and different locations., and then you have to add the cost of support services. The point is valid - housing cost less and it is the best solution to not only solve homelessness, but to save lives.

You really need to do some research. You do realize that for the wealthy, WE ARE A SOCIALIST COUNTRY, they just don’t want regular folks like you know. Also, there are always going to be vulnerable people who need social services, because we’re all human and vulnerable depending on circumstances. Do you see the severely mentally ill and homeless people on the streets? They can’t help themselves and we shouldn’t expect them to, no more than you should expect a drowning person to swim to safety on their own. We pay taxes to have a safety net that every citizen depends on and it’s broken. Which means democracy isn’t working. Worry about socialism for the wealthy instead of worrying about the most vulnerable in our society getting some help.
@tylersmith753411 күн бұрын

Doctors are a business to make money, and the homeless people are a commodity that they exploit for profit. If they cut off a foot, they get money for a major surgery. That is all they really care about. If the person has a worse quality of life than when they went in, they don't care. So much is preventable and treatable with good supportive care, such as housing or nursing of the type to assist with living and not just force drugs onto people. I don't get the joke about the steak. I think it is sad that people aren't grateful for having enough. I think that is part of the mindset that the homeless develop that they think they aren't good enough and will never have it good enough. They don't know how to start from where they are to make things better. Life is a struggle, but these people kind of give up and see themselves as victims and patients and clients rather than someone who is independent and determined to make it.
