A couple of weeks ago I used this release drill on the range with my 7 iron and after 5-10 mins of practicing I started to consistently hit the ball straighter having been badly pushing it to the right at the beginning of my session. Thank so much for these great videos and for making them so easy to follow. Class coaches!

Tried this at the range today and really helped me flush my irons. Always struggled slicing my driver and more recently my miss is a big sharp hook. Now to tame the clubface rotation. Oh the joys of golf and our bodies adapting to things 😅 Paddy Harrington said it best, youre always working hard to get rid of too much fade and then it magically becomes too much draw, so you have to start working on your fade again. Eventually after about 25 years, 72,000 range sessions and 75 different sets of clubs, we either find the straight shots and become good, or we die before we get there. Okay Padraig said the first bit, i added the last bit 😅

Great job on this lesson; teacher and student. I don’t see you ever talking much about side bend and using that to bring the club face through the hitting zone without as much need for hand action. Is there a level of golfer / age / talent / flexibility where that becomes important? These sorts of forearm rotation/ release drills work pretty well for me until my body gets lazy and I start flipping. Almost hoping to someday get my core / big muscles to be the engine and just let the hands folllow. Wonderful instruction and entertainment, thanks for your efforts.

Yes it is just about blending a good club face rotation with body rotation. It will depend on the person and face has top be good first in order to rotate the body and stay in angles. We would talk about side bend we just didn't feel that it was needed in this lesson. Great point though.

Incredible how often it's (basically) the same 2 things "new" golfers struggle with: over-palming the left hand and the part of the swing from ball up to hip (plane and clubface movement). This channel is really good at advicing on corrections. I can't remember who said it but one of the all time greats once said "If the grip doesn't feel slightly uncomfortable, you're doing it wrong." A golf club is not a baseball bat.

Curious how much distance was gained. Looked like quite a bit. Great lesson. That’s why I’m a longtime subscriber. You guys always have some of the best content on KZbin.

Hi Brad. There was definitely a few yards gained consistently. I think 10-15. The direction was the key in this one. Hope you enjoyed the lesson.

I’ve just been told by my pro that the club runs from the joint in my first finger and run slightly through the palm so that the pad sits on top of the shaft. I had my Club resting across the base of my fingers and told that’s wrong contributing to thin shots. Interested in your views. Thanks 😊

Swing plane is terrible lol, why are you lying to her telling her her swing is fine
@meandmygolf. Жыл бұрын
We aren’t lying to her. Her club path is good. The reason she is hitting the ball right is due only to the club face. Could her “swing plane” be improved? Yes a little but working at this at this point will provide no improvement in performance.
