One difference between you and Marc is that you keep constant throttle and he's blipping the throttle and controlling a lot less with the friction zone of the clutch. Great exercise and you guys are blessed to have the wide open space where to ride.

Give mark a 2 stroke, shorter bike and he’ll be in the game. Great series and there’s a group of us doing these drills and challenging ourselves every time. Thank you for the openness and training prospects. Keep up the great work. Making us all better riders🤘

Definitely a few changes on his bike would assist him. That being said, if you keep your feet on the pegs height doesn’t matter! The shorter you are the more important these drills are! Thanks for the support of the series pumped you guys are following along!

That not totally true. Short rider have short legs and usually relative small weight, so ability to shift weight is much less than "normal rider" :). Maybe xtrainer better suit for Mark.
@IRCTireUSAMoto
@IRCTireUSAMoto Жыл бұрын
Sure less height does equal a decrease in weight shifting and distribution but Marc and other riders who are “short” usually don’t have their balance skill honed in practiced to their full potential. Most people who say they are too short, haven’t practiced any.. or nearly enough balance and fundamental control. Sure you can lower your bike or even buy a smaller lighter bike.. but the fact will always remain self accountability in time, and practice, will trump any performance part or specific tailored machine.

Been following and I was starting to wonder when we were going to get episode 5. I’ve turned episode 1 into a party trick now. On last weekend’s ride I was stopping at trail junctions and waiting for the other riders while practicing my static balance. At this point I can pretty much stand and eat my lunch as long as I’m turning to the left. Turning to the right needs more work, but can still stay for at least a minute. These drills are really good and I wish I’d have done it years ago.

I like how when you added the corner to the cone drill that Mark became so focused on making the turns that he INSTINCTIVELY applied all of the needed skills, throttle, clutch, balance, brake, lean angle.... did everything needed almost in a panic. That means he actually LEARNED the skills and not just memorized them long enough for the exercise. Credit to the coach.
@IRCTireUSAMoto
@IRCTireUSAMoto Жыл бұрын
Absolutely right! The goal is to slowly increase the difficulty so his focus goes towards the new challenge not on “what” he is doing. After so many repetitions on the first challenge and proper focus on technique, we can almost trick your mind into using instincts when adding a new approach. Love seeing these progressions! Thanks for watching!

@@IRCTireUSAMoto As a woods racer i used to refer to this as "riding the trail vs riding the bike". Focusing on the challenge means riding the bike is instinctive. Didn't happen always but it sure feels good when things click. I'll be here for #6. Great videos.

First, loving this series and am spreading the news. Question about dragging the brake on these slow speed maneuvers. When I ride a street bike we were told to drag the rear brake "in the friction zone and if you use your front brake you are going down", which I have experienced. How is it you are dragging your front brake?
