I have never bought stuff for gold and have got everything the game has. it's not like in another games that has guns you can only obtain for real money. it has some grind (they promise to fix it sequel), but it's not the game like BF or CoD that born and die within one year, like butterflies. such games have to make the top guns unlockable in a day or two, yes. but this is not required here.

Feel bad for you mate. I know personally i played since 2016 or so and yeah i kinda felt the same way, use to watch your videos back in those days. Was good shit my man. I tend to lurk in the shadows but i think i watched most of those videos of the old HNG, it was a whole different beast back then and i can imagine for a proper content creator like yourself it can't be very fun when one of the main games being on the channel just basically takes and entire 180 turn. Sadly I personally i got very little hope for this game ever happening, but personally i feel it won't be the same as retos own engine, but will just feel close to something like hell let loose or post scriptum simply nothing really that funny in terms of gameplay. And i got a personal kind of take on stuff that usually ends up in unity or unreal. It goes by the saying of "Dead out of the gate." Sad truth about many unity games and unreal games these days. But i hope to, if of course this game happens you'll make us some content for good ol' times sake.

The original developers made numerous mistakes and have not listened to the community. I can now count at least ten changes that killed the original gameplay, but the biggest thing that killed this game, in my opinion, is the lack of new maps. It was a great experience playing this game and it was the game like no other, one of its kind.

10 years old player here of HG, thank you for this video. HG is a unique ww2 game with a unique combination of FPS + RTS, which over the years had the most fanatical community. It needs to be stated in the video or next videos, that TLM is new developer team, and HG old which was acquired from old company who original made the game. TLM comes with a new fresh air into their new project. This game - Heroes and Generals - the only most important thing that is lacking and is far behind is their graphics - and even so, the only graphics of the terrain, of buildings , of environments, all the rest looks still ok after so many years!

Heroes and Generals was one of my favorite WW2 games, very punishing and rewarding at the same time. You really feel the rush when your team coordinates as squad deaths have a very significant impact on your gameplay and mission success, respawning several minutes behind the front lines is a big motivator to not rush or die carelessly. I hope they can meet their goals, I think the RTS portion of the game was very unique and this team deserves keeping the H&G spirit alive.

The idea of the game is gold, playing an fps game with rts resources of other players all ongoing in a big battle on a warmap in Europe. Every headshot you make, every tank you destroy matters and will make another player happy or angry. I am very hyped about this and have pledged. One thing that is missing in this video is, that the footage of the new HnG 2 is actually just a tech demo to show what it possible with Unreal Engine 5. Personally I have pledged 750 for HnG 2 as the people responsible for the dumb decisions back then aren't around anymore and I am also a long time player of HnG2 and do really hope for the kickstarter campagin to succeed. Back in the day we always joked within the community they should just do a HnG 2 on the unreal engine, well now is the chance for it to happen. Unfortunately there are still a lot of players that have been burnt and don't trust the new TLM team, which is really a shame, but you can't blame them. I just hope many of them find peace and can finally let go of all the negative memories. Like many other stated the combination of FPS & RTS is unique and I can tell you that although we had the same maps over and over again, it never got boring because of the RTS Part. Every match had a different setup ressourcewise and could change at any given moment from an infantry fight to an all out vehicle mayhem. Especially paratropper missions were the most difficult but also the most exciting. I hope to see everybody soon in Heroes & Generals 2 !

This is such a weird situation. $3 million on kickstarter after they've been charging money for battle passes and starter packs. Then lowering it to $2 million as if it's a reasonable goal. The backer tiers are not worth it as they're all for in game title card colors and vehicle skins. Unless you drop a ton of money. The highest tier is spending a week in Vegas with the team during development and having dinner with them but they only cover 2 nights in a hotel for you. That tier most likely covers them partying in Vegas. They also titled it Heroes and Generals: The Next War. But it's still World War II? Poor title choice if you ask me.

I remember playing the game back in my teens growing up. Game was janky at best and was overall an alright game for the time, but they royally screwed themselves with the development decisions, lack of new content in a timely manner, and lets not forget their their horrible moderation staff that would ban your account without justification/reason or if they had one it was petty whilst still allowing hackers to remain whom would even admit to it in the in match chat with the names of the hacks they were using, programs and all. Frankly, seems suspicious that they would be asking for such a huge amount of money for a game that's been in decline for years that they're now trying to make a sequel to... Good luck to them is all I can say but I'm looking forwards to more HLL and WWII online: chokepoint once that release to get the WWII fix.

I used to play H&G religiously around 2015-2016. I played it a few years back too, lots of changes. Noticed that i missed my chance to get a few unique veteran helmets. Had a rare orage-ish skin on the Gewehr 43 that wasn't able to get anymore, etc etc. Was really proud of my progress. It is sad to hear that the old game is going down. Games like Post Scriptum or HLL lack the type of spin-off where there's a RTS player-controlled map to give that feel that after the match you just played it's not just a meaningless waste of time, but actually makes progress for your faction, also, some technical issues with the new games just mentioned is the fact that anyone could aim while standing right infront of a wall or a tree. H&G fixed this issue blocking the aiming animation from happening, it also had some very good bipod surface placement. I din't hear any news about this game and i suddently found this video. I really hope the project gets to be completed, along with a good needed update on the graphics and character animations to a more fluid movement.

I started playing Heroes and Generals in the summer of 2014. Somehow it was better back then, even though there was less ‘content’. Reto had their problems but were constantly holding dev streams to keep us up to date on what was happening. I guess they weren’t doing so well financially and they sold it. I stopped playing about 6 months ago and I won’t miss it. The H&G I used to love died a long time ago!

The whole TLM rhetoric is screwed. Why shut the old game before a new final version of the game is created? Or why not lower the target and create a game slightly less ambitious for like 500K USD? They are telling us to support them but I think that in the meantime they have a plan which could be shortly expressed as "we want to profit on this game and if you don't give us the money, we don't care and will delete it altogether". What is more, I think that even from a business perspective it does not make sense - many people were buing gold for real money in the old game, so it generated some revenue. The new game will generate none if it will be never created. (And still, if one of the reasons for shutting the old game was that the revenue from gold bought by players did not cover the costs for developing the game, the cannot expect that the new game will be profitable unless it attracts many more players. I think they are just saying politely "we dont care and will delete the game altogether without a substitute if you dont give us money")

Third, If the money isn't raised, no money is charged from peoples bank accounts, so there is no harm pledging. Fourth, the average player of h&g is an adult, with money to spend. The average pledge will be higher than most games in kickstarter. Fifth, both the developers, and the community are promoting the game tirelessly. Sixth, and finally: "What are you smoking?" Who pissed in your cornflakes this morning? Why so toxic? Nobody said that they even were going to raise the 2mil... Even if we teleported back to those peak 20 thousand players in 2016, it would still be a 100 bucks per person. That said, the real issue I take with things like this is not the harm in pledging. You are correct that if they fail to raise the money then your card will not be charged. The harm isn't in pledging, it's in it succeeding. If they do reach their goal, your money is taken and they are under no obligation to ever fulfill their promise to you (Kickstarter TOS states they merely need to try make good on their promises). If they fail to deliver then its tough nuts. You can contact them, and if they have integrity they will refund your money. Otherwise, your only option so long as they're meeting Kickstarter's incredibly low bar is through legal action. And have fun doing that as you'll almost certainly spend more money on legal fees than you would get back, and that's if you even win. The idea of paying someone for a product or service that largely relies on their word and trust, and with essentially zero options of getting your money back if something goes wrong is a bit insane to me. There will always be exceptions, and I do not dispute that, but those are often for more trustworthy kickstarters, with good communication and a positive past. Heroes and Generals does not have that. They have an incredibly shady past, muddied with poor communication, failure to deliver on promises, monetization that bordered, and often crossed over into, the pay to win area, and they failed to optimize their game at all. I hope they get to make this game, and I hope it's as good as everyone wants it to be. That said, do I honestly expect that? No, I don't even fully expect it to get made, let alone be good. And I think anyone donating any large amount of money is being foolish. 5 dollars? Sure, what's the real harm? 30 bucks or more? 100 bucks? Horrible idea.

I played this game in 2013 although at that time I had a very bad computer, one or two years later I would get one that would allow me to play more often, for personal reasons and because in my country the economy is being destroyed I could not continue playing, I started working to try to buy a much better computer and play it again, two years ago I could not return and now I find out that the game will close, I can not explain the sadness that generates me this news and even worse seeing the sequel that does not seem to be very good. I really enjoyed this game and I wanted to get even more things that I could not try now they are not even going to give us veterans something in the sequel which makes me even sadder.

As someone who been playing the game since CBT (Eisenhower build) I must say that devs made many bad decisions or lack o good ones that esentially ruined the game while it also became outdated. Still it was a good game for it's time and i found a real life friend from it so it was worth it despite the fact that the game met it's demise which it meant to met. Overall my advise to devs would be to spend less money on beer for dev streams.

Reto Moto (before TLM took over) didn’t always listen to community feed back and said things they told back all the time. Wish could be in better state but all things have to come to an end. I remember playing this a long time ago, was even part of a clan that actively participated in the whole RTS wars system. Didn't do much of that myself though, but we had a few whales that would spend a lot of money on buying troops and shit. Really only played the FPS portion and battles, was fun until they decided to go at it with useless skins.

I feel sadly one of the problems they might face is that the niche Heroes and Generals fell into back then which it was one of the only ones to fill, has partially been filled out by Enlisted, and the level of support and polish Enlisted will have will always overshadow their team. But we'll have to see

Yes, After this the game has finally ended. May 25 2023 yesterday . I played this game since 2017 it was ok new and improved games don't have the same feel to them and well upgrading this game was a whole other story. Destine for failure without funding and advances in game play respectfully. A lot of people have survivors of Ww2 in there family and well the super game player was not needed for this game it was just a way to give some input on how we the later generation perceived it. The latest update that they just did nerfed the stand alone tank game where you could play for hours and hardly get any credits.( Most of the credits now you earn being used for upkeep for the tank you use). They're not getting a dime from me.. All these years they had plenty of opportunity to make new maps and fixes but they sat there with their thumbs in their behinds. The game enlisted is looking pretty good these days just so everybody knows

I played Heroes and Generals for a long time. Game at the start was good, but over the years, bad patches and releases ruined the game. Developers did not listen to the community, or if they did, only very little. There was no competitor before, but now games such as Enlisted is winning the hearts and minds of the players. If you enjoy HnG, you will 100% enjoy Enlisted.

It sad that online game is not possible to maintain cost. I wonder how much it cost to run those server as well develop new or use new engine to stream the new format game. But it still good to move to new engine to reduce debugging. Just find it odd that they can port it but know they need to pay for rent and staffs.

Heroes & Generals gave me the closest experience to Battlefield, games that I could never play, I was very loyal to this game and I always saw its potential to be better, it just needed more, more maps, more vehicles, maybe more weapons , more balances, better optimization of both the game and the junk servers they had, more things to buy, I have played it since February 2018, and I officially gave up on October 25, 2020, it was impossible for me to play it on the Bad state of both my connection and the servers, I couldn't enjoy it at 20 fps and a lot of latency, I couldn't enjoy it to the fullest, and I'm sad to know that they are going to shut down the servers of this game for launching the sequel, like in Overwatch "2", which is true, you can see the graphical improvement, the details of the fire and the weapons, as well as the maps, but don't worry that the servers are going to close, it's like pointing a gun at your client and forcing them to to pay for a product that we do not know if it will be good, and it is useless to look pretty, if there is not something for players who admire World War 2 games, we want to play in Normandy, Stalingrad, Kiev, Berlin, Cologne, Ardennes, etc etc, or at least in Maps that resemble towns and cities of the time, also more weapons, uniforms, more vehicles! Where is the KV-2 or the Panzerjäger Elefant? If one day we will see Italians or British with their respective weapons, in short, many things, which I consider that the Enlisted game does better. I don't expect anything from RETOMOTO but that they do well, I hope only one thing works out for them in their miserable lives

I played this game since what, 2011, 2012? around that time at least...I think the game was a bit too grindy, and too prone to clans just sweeping in and ruining games for solo queuers or small friend groups, but it was a game that I really loved...sad to see this happen

I really miss enjoying Heroes and Generals man, the content drought really just ruined the game for me. Used to stream it almost daily for like a year or so and miss chatting with other players in the community it was really wholesome.

The OG game was very p2w and struggled a lot with balancing. Tier 1 was chill and then you went into tier 2 where you'd fight a Pershing tank while all 2 of the players who grinded for the tank role on your team would still have stugs and PZ-II and would just get absolutely bodied by the better tank. Matches were usually just totally one sided as one side would usually have mostly casuals while the other had a mix of whales and super-veteran players. There was so much grinding for basically everything, even the right to play a certain role, which you then had to grind into in order to make it viable, but there were less slots for that role in a match so that took even longer. Overall, it's a game you pick up once and a while and then drop because you remembered that there are objectively better WW2 shooters out there.

All i can say, is that they just need to balance money, weapons, and game physics and im pretty sure ill stick to this game.

This is so sad to see. I used to play H&G during its heyday and I haven't checked up on it in years. I was recently thinking about reinstalling it. So much time has passed that I barely recognize the game anymore. It got absolutely mogged by war thunder for doing what it did, but better.

I miss the original promise of the H&G game they promised us. The original game that wasn't locked behind a pay wall. What I mean is that suddenly special ammunition used to have a reasonable cost, but all of a sudden it became nearly impossible to maintain. I literally quit the moment they implemented the change to give their in game cash shop more legitimacy. I spent $50 early on buying gun and soldier skins to support the development because the game was really fun and promising until they made it more about cash if you want to use upgrades. So nah, I don't care to support them.
