Jay, please check the model of your DeWalt compound miter saw. They just recalled a bunch made between 2019-2022 for a safety issue. The stop on the back was switched to plastic & it can shatter exposing the blade.

After enjoying all our custom builds that look great I had an idea where you should go next. Take your builds beyond the box. How about full "Battlestation Builds". It would be great to see some top level battle station ideas. It would also give us some inspiration for our own spaces and see how you use various materials and techniques for things like hiding wires.

Agreed, you clearly have an eye for setting up spaces and you should expand your channel into DIY/Interior design focused on gaming spaces. Your OCD will bring you happiness doing things like this rather than just focusing on desktop builds. Most of us did not grow up with DIY skills passed down and it would be great if you can educate gamers on becoming more handy in building things out for themselves with the focus being on setting up spaces in a cost efficient manner, integrating smart home stuff, etc.

The hanging method with angled cuts is called a "French Cleat" for anyone looking for it.
@ronnie30442 жыл бұрын
And they are amazing! I have them on every bare section of wall in my shop. Now when I get new toys I dont even have to think about how to mount them I just pick an open spot on one of the rails and its good to go.
@CaptainCoel2 жыл бұрын
@@ronnie3044 my introduction to French Cleats was in middleschool. I had a bunk bed and wanted my alarm clock near my head. Dad and I built a box with a hidden French cleat on the back. Still have it somewhere at their house. We built it 25 years ago.
@andrewgehling65662 жыл бұрын
My mom's a French Cleat! ... Oh wait....
@onux162 жыл бұрын
For those who are worried about things falling off of your french cleat (say, during a total rage quit), then look into adding "french cleat keys" which slide between the top of the cleat and the bottom of the horizontal slab above it.

I like these videos as much as the PC stuff. Building things in general, makes me happy. PS: You don't need to buy nail filler. Wood glue + sawdust = nail filler. Plus if you use the sawdust from what you are working on, it'll match in color.
@JohnPaulHare2 жыл бұрын
This! It's a great way to reuse sawdust, since that's something you'd otherwise just throw away. Plus, it's way cheaper to make your own than to buy the prepackaged stuff from the store.

Just wanted to say, as a person who has had a lot of fun discovering woodworking over the last couple years, I really enjoyed watching your process for this build and how much fun you were having with it. Yea, there are things that folks might do differently, but in the end, you made something that you're happy with and excited about. Thanks for sharing this little journey!

When staining, you should also stain the back so the moisture from humidity changes will be equal on both sides.
@smoothaswater2 жыл бұрын
Also when staining don’t use a brush. Much better Way to stain is staining cloth or even better yet staining pad. Staining pad is a staining cloth wrapped around a sponge. All you have to do is dip and rub on the stain. The staining pad will apply the stain much faster and way more evenly. If you do see any puddles you can use it to soak up any extra stain. YES YES YES stain both sides. I know you were just using pine and it will not be seen on the backside. Jerry is right you will get excess moisture absorbing into the back of the wood which is going to cause your build to expand and contract unevenly. Which will cause the wood to bow or cup. This will pull out those little Brad nails because you did not use glue. Which you should have used some glue too.
@RichWhiteUM2 жыл бұрын
