It is often said that your favorite tool song is the last one your heard. Want a new favorite listen to a new song. I'm so looking forward to Ænima, It was my intro to tool back in the 90's. I remember being blown away by how unique it was.

My fave Tool song that's too short! Love, love, love how the music symbolizes calm water then the undertow drags users into addiction. On the first verse it's "Deep and rich" like silt on a riverbed. Then the next hit it's "Cold and black..." Every high becomes less and less and the abuser consciously uses more and more knowing that the Undertow one day is gonna kill him. Monster track!

First, the line about the riverbed that you like so much is powerful lyrically because it changes as the song goes on and the “character” gets stuck in the Undertow. Powerful stuff. Second, lyrics man, lyrics. Tool’s lyrics take them from a great band to the absolute GOATs! But especially on the title tracks, Undertow, Eanema, Lateralus, Wings for Marie (who suffered the 10,000 days) and Fear Innoculum…LYRICS. They are some of Maynard’s most profound writing. ❤
