I've had sleep struggles for most of my adult life and the biggest helpers have been getting therapy and meds to treat my anxiety and depression. I used to wake up at 3-4am with my heart pounding and mind racing because I was under a lot of stress. But therapy and anti-depressants have really helped. Also, weed gummies with melatonin have been a new thing I've tried and they definitely help me to relax and fall asleep at night. Hopefully some of the guys read these comments and can try out the recommendations from all the best friends. But regardless, thank you guys for opening up and sharing your struggles. It's very refreshing to see and I appreciate you guys being open and honest!

My sleep pattern has been screwed since Jan 2012 due to a motorcycle accident. I only get around 2hrs sleep before I start choking due to my spinal cord squeezing my esophagus. I am also in pain 24/7 due to all the injuries I suffered because of the motorcycle accident (wasn't my fault, was hit by a car doing a U-Turn). You guys at Kinda Funny have helped me so much through these bad times in my life. Been watching Greg and Colin on IGN, then transitioned into Gameovergreggy show and now this set up. I want you guys to know how much you have helped me through the last 10yrs. I have commented about this before, and wish I could be a Patron, but finances are tight. It would be so nice to hang out with you guys, but I am housebound and only leave house for hospital appointments. Plus I am over in the (Oi Governor UK). Take care you wonderful peeps. Big hugs from across the pond and big hugs to the KF best friends in chat.

For folks in the chat or these boys in the vid If you’re having trouble with intrusive ruminations (anxious thoughts you can’t get off the mind) look into grounding techniques, I usually recommend the 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 technique for before bed but there are plenty of tools out there so find the one that works best. Also, find yourself a good therapist, someone you can see regularly and establish a therapeutic relationship with. You will get more out of an average to good therapist you can have a strong relationship with than a great therapist you can’t connect with.

THANK YOU guys for having the conversation about us all getting older, bodies being weird and not letting us sleep as much/as well, stresses of life getting into our heads... I feel this so much and it's always comforting to hear that we're all just going through it together! (Btw, I'm typing this at 5:03AM after having just listened to the whole episode because I couldn't fall asleep after getting up to pee..) 😆 Oh, and Andy - proud of you for being on Lexapro, man - that medication got me through my late 20s. Keep taking care of your brain!

I'm with Mike. You're allowed to poke the Jenga pieces because there's no other way to determine what's a good piece to take out with just looking. If you have to choose one without testing, it's just a guess at that point.

Yup. The rule is to poke until a piece moves. Once a piece moves you have to remove that one.

From the Jenga rule set: "Players may tap a block to find a loose one. Any blocks moved but not played should be replaced, unless doing so would make the tower fall. The turn ends when the next player touches the tower, or after ten seconds, whichever occurs first. Players may use only one hand at a time; either hand may be used, but only one hand may touch the tower at any time. "

Relate a lot to the guys on the sleep front. My nervous system has been deregulated for so long I couldn’t remember what a normal sleep schedule was like for ages (still working on it, honestly). I’d be so stressed out or anxious that I’d wake up to get to work at 9-10am on a Friday, finish at 8-9pm or later and then wouldn’t be able to sleep until Saturday afternoon at the earliest. So I’d just stay up for a full 24 hours week after week after week, and I got way too used to it. It was a combination of things, including undiagnosed ADHD, but it took a massive toll on my mental and physical health. Pilates, walking and stretching have helped a lot! Magnesium mixed in with my chamomile/lemon balm tea or plain water before bed has actually worked better for me than Ambien, Ativan or Klonopin ever did weirdly enough, lol. It wasn’t until I added magnesium to my routine that I was able to sleep through the night without waking up for the first time since before the pandemic. It’s not perfect but I’m happy for the small wins :) Gabbing too much now but seriously wishing the best for anyone struggling with their mental health and the effects it has on sleep! Shit sucks but we out here surviving 😤

Former Carolina Hurricanes season ticket holder here (NHL): we stand for the entire game during the playoffs. It’s an old college football/basketball tradition we stole. If you go back to the ‘06 Cup highlights, hard to find a clip where people come out of their seats. Also became a way for them to get more people in the building, but don’t tell anybody.

Hearing Nick say that Pan's Labyrinth is "not that good of a movie" is why they can never do GDT In Review. Show that film some respect!
@TheCaliforniaHP Жыл бұрын
Nick has some of the most intriguing opinions on films. I feel there's some old ideology of films he has specifically from his youth like 80s films or something. And then he hates on a lot of modern ones. Odd sometimes for me

These standing O's have been happening for yeeeears, that's just what they do at these film festivals. It is a little ridiculous, but like Tim said, they slowly move to each actor and there's clapping for them specifically and then on to the next person, so on and so forth. Also, you all can't be serious with that pronunciation, "Canus" lmao

I'm with Nick, stop pressuring people into standing ovations. There's always that person who starts the stand when you've finally found you comfort zone in your chair. Now you gotta get yourself together and stand up and if it's a short standing ovation, you'll be getting up just as everyone starts to sit down. It sucks.
@neojd Жыл бұрын
I’d be the one guy that refused to stand if I wasn’t feeling it. I try to be in bed at least 8 hours before I gotta wake up. As someone who works in a pharmacy, I’d say most people I see there (both customers and other employees) often don’t get enough sleep and that’s a big cause of some of their problems. I’m with Mike, if you’re chillin at home, go commando.

We hold a minute silence so I’ll hold a minute applause. No one living deserves more respect than the dead so that’s the most you’re getting out of me. Anything beyond that should be taxed. Like we can give Jamie Leigh Curtis a five minute standing ovation but we’re gonna have to take back Oscar for Everything Everywhere All At Once.

The Cannes film festival is kinda weird in regards to the standing o's. The longest in Cannes history is Pan's Labyrinth at 23 minutes long. On the flip side Taxi Driver was met with boos from the audience. However only Taxi Driver won an award from Cannes.

Shirt and comfortable shorts or pants to bed. Underwear ALWAYS. I'm almost 30 and I've never in my whole life been able to sleep naked and not even in just underwear. I also only do about 4 hours of sleep at night and most days I get a couple of tiny naps in. Like two 20 minute naps if my schedule permits.

The conversation about standing ovations makes me think about bands and encore bullshit. We know you're gonna come back out and play another song or three. Do we really need to massage your ego? And it's absolutely just part of the act, when my wife and I saw Kiss at a festival we left part way through their set and we heard from people that a large portion of the audience got up to leave immediately after the "last song" and they had to rush right back out to play the encore. I understand that modern rock and metal concerts are a big production so you can't really do spur of the moment songs like you used to or people do at smaller shows, but enough with the waiting to hear people cheer your name before you finish the show bullshit.
