@@steskinner3713 I have yet to see anyone (regardless of difficulty setting) make it through the house of sovereigns berserker section on their first play-through without dying. Even if you're perfect, that AI controlled Dom will inevitably get himself killed.

The people at 1:06:27 are called Stranded. They're the survivors from the initial Locust invasions and for one reason or another, aren't able to (or choose not to) make their way back to human territory. They were effectively abandoned by the COG and hate them for being left behind to be slaughtered by the Locust.

Boltok pistol that you picked up is very good, especially when you get a headshot. Yes, you can chainsaw your enemies if you get close enough. Hammer of dawn is a situational weapon. When Anya says it's offline, swap it for something else. There will always be one to pick up if you need it for the plot.

I would say not to worry about too many spoilers for the first Gears of War. Sad fact is that there is A LOT left unexplained by the end. Have to wait for other games to get the lore, and even then it tends to lead to more questions than answers. You were right about The Locust being organized. General Raam (big ugly one with the knife) targeted Kim because he deduced Kim was in charge. Killing him would cause disarray among the soldiers. Or so he assumed… He doesn’t know Marcus. And thus: Doesn’t know who he’s messing with.

The Berserkers of the Locust horde are one of my favourite enemies in the series; they're very scary to go up against, being super aggressive and able to one-hit you makes them a horror experience...like fighting a freight train with a bad attitude on legs. Also, I always forget how dumb the AI is during the Berserker section; primitive 2006 programming shows. Don't worry, I think this is the worst it'll be.

1:06:10 yep these people and many others out there in the world Jonesy are all called “Stranded.” They are people who refused to listen or live within the government laws. Because they hold a grudge against the COG as they don’t like them as they used the “Hammer of Dawn” against their own people to combat the Locust. The reason why we heard the voiceover in the introduction cutscene at the beginning said. “Humans denied their enemies control. By destroying their own civilization.” Their families including. 😭.

Tactic I’ve always used when on a difficulty lower than insane (for wretches) is, melee attacks! Typically I use the pistol, one hit kill with a melee! Love this playthrough! I’m currently doing it on my variety channel! And it’s crazy how differently it can be played considering it’s a linear game!

32:41 Berserkers are females of the Locust. Unlike their male drones Berserkers are bigger, stronger and way more violently aggressive but blind. Berserkers are also used for reproduction as well, the Locust have a very messed up way of doing it, the Berserker is chained in place and the male drones force themselves on the female one after the other basically raping it.

The AI during Berserker fights can be really frustrating 🤣. The Berserkers are blind so they react to smell and noise like running around, so the AI is designed to walk really slow and not run to attract the Berserker but it can be frustrating because they won't get always get out of the way 🤣. When the satellites for the Hammer of Dawn go back online the game will give you opportunities to pick the Hammer of Dawn back up again so don't worry about dropping the Hammer for a different gun. You only get a damage boost from getting Perfect Active where you hitting the solid White block of the bar, when you hit the Grey part of the bar you still reload faster but don't get any additional benefits. Some weapons you get additional benefits for Perfect Active reloads for example the Boltok Pistol, the revolver which you were using gets a big fire rate buff to the gun actually doubling the fire rate when Perfect Active Reload it. Although I can't remember if this applied to the Gears 1 Boltok, I think it might have been a change they brought in for Gears 2. When you get Perfect active reloads the buffs are only temporary, it also only affects the amount bullets you actually shot in the next magazine. So if you shoot until you've emptied the magazine and get a Perfect Active reload the whole of your next magazine will have the benefits of an perfect reload, if you only shoot 10 bullets and get a Perfect Active your first 10 bullets have the buffs of an Perfect Reload and the rest of the magazine will do the regular amount of damage. The amount of bullets that are Perfectly Active will flash underneath your gun in the HUD and once they stop flashing that means that the damage buffs and whatever buffs the Perfect Active has given you have gone. This adds a bit of a tactical element on when you think it's more beneficial to reload or not because the damage buffs can be very much significant, it might be more beneficial to hold of reloading and trying to get Actives when you go back into combat. Some enemies can be really tanky and saving full magazines as Perfect Active Reloads can really reduce the amount of ammo you use on some enemies.

Well you’re doing a great job mate, you’re getting better at it. The wretches are small creatures that can climb in grates, scream so loud to peirce ears, Beserkers are blind and have great hearing so you had to move slowly so she wouldn’t hear you. The hammer of dawn is a situational weapon that’s used for special situations. It’s getting late so the dawn weapon isn’t going to help so you might want to get a different weapon like the shotgun, the sniper rifle, or the boomshot you had, it’s best to not get attached to a overpowered weapon since they’re not going to be used for a while. Good video, tips, get rid of the hammer of dawn since it’s not going to work or help any further than where you’re going, if you fight the beserker again then move slowly, not fast since it wasn’t Dom’s fault, people forget that they are supposed to walk slowly when facing a blind enemy and it’s funny, use the chainsaw by holding B to kill Locust when you’re close to them

The entire part with the berserker can be extremely frustrating with how Dom's ai works. I ended up having a friend jump in for co-op for this part because Dom just wouldn't stop dying. Also, I don't mind the lag, it's still enjoyable to watch you play.

So youll find out who that female voice is and shes a major character in later games, the stranded however. When the cog deployed the hammer of dawn (in the cutscene at the start) they warned everyone if they cant ge tto Ephyra within 3 days theyll deploy the hammer. So the cog killed millions of humans in the strikes and left them for dead. The stranded dont like the cog and the cog sees them as ungrateful for not helping fight the locust

Anyway, good thing to come home to after having a first readthrough of a show I'm doing next month. English Restoration style show no less so it's all connected. Glad you decided to play this because I'm enjoying finding out what's happening alongside you.
