I love how when DImple gets exorcised Mob's % ONLY raise by 4, showing how at this point he knew that Dimple just came to him to use him and thought of him as an annoyance, this makes the future growth of their relationship even better. ONE likes to exploit some generic shounen anime scenes. Where when someone dies you're supposed to go ape shit and gain power-up.... At least that's what I want to think about it. Then he added the additional contrasting scenes where despite how Dimple might be twisted he still encourages Mob that it is ok to be more confident. Simple yet complex and excellent. Teru without powers was left by his gang/followers, while Mob without powers has Dimple and Body improvement club to help and protect him at his lowest.

@Senator Dodo ok, it might be a little long now, but it has the potential to be a 200 episode series. But arcs are usually 2-4 episodes and the show is only about 37 ep. It is simple, there are no powers scaling, grand conspiracies, or extremely complicated organisations(claw is simple). It's a super well written character driven slice of life type of story mixed with action

@@fanatomic24what are you talking about? The show’s ending with season 3, the mob psycho manga ended back in 2017, or are you saying that mob psycho 100, if it had ever continued, could have had the potential to be 200 ep long? Because I feel the more episodes a series has, the more likely the writer will have to resort to tactics that prolong the series but are basically hated by everyone(filler arcs are the most famous(or infamous I should say) example).

This episode is always great to watch. Seeing where Mob’s morals and want to change come from always helps me understand Mob more. Also seeing ???% for the first time is also great. I love that form. Plus the scene after Teru’s hair is cut off. ‘Top of Teru’s Head: 0%’ 🤣 Just to let you know since you seemed to miss it, Teru took off his tie, unfolded it, and then channeled his energy into it to sharpen it into a type of sword.

Regarding Mob's transformation, there's a detail you seem to have missed. Mob is unconscious in that form, he has no control over what he's doing, and no memory of what happens while he's like that. When he was trying to protect his brother, he woke up to find everyone around him bleeding on the ground, his brother included. Ritsu lied to Mob, saying he protected him, because he doesn't want him to blame himself. But him saying "That wasn't my big brother" was because it wasn't Mob himself who hurt all those people and his brother, it was whatever the ???% "being" is, a sort of personification of Mob's power.

What gets me is that everyone usually goes through mob psycho feeling the same: Episode 1-2: confused by the "out-there" humor and animation, but interested Episode 3: introduction to Mob's percentage reaching 100. Hooked. Episode 4-5: set up and pay off, lays the groundwork for Mob's internal struggle and introduces ??? By the end of episode 5 is when most people become emotionally invested, myself included xD

I think this episode is even better when you remember how Dimple criticized Shigeo when they first met. he was trying to make him laugh, and Shigeo doesn't even smile. he doesn't feel like it. he doesn't think he genuinely could. and it's because _this._ this right here. this is what his emotions do when they're at their maximum. the most painful thing about it is that Dimple tells Shigeo point blank... at first that he doesn't think Shigeo has emotions at all, and then that if he can't show emotion and respond to other people's emotions then he'll never be able to connect with anyone. he compares Shigeo to livestock. but then when Shigeo goes into 100% mode, Dimple calls him a monster. because when Shigeo does stop holding back, and shows what he feels, it's always because it became too much for him. the way Shigeo handles his emotions is something that people only ever seem to criticize, and when he fails to get along with others, you get results like this thing with Teruki. specifically, Teruki attacked him because he could tell Shigeo was powerful, and he really wanted to beat him. if it weren't for Shigeo's powers, none of this would've happened to him... he literally doesn't think having powers like this is a good thing from his perspective. why would he have wanted this? meanwhile the thing Teruki is most afraid of, is the realization that he and Shigeo are both just as mundane as anyone else. Teruki without his psychic powers is a very mediocre person, and when he meets someone who is more powerful than himself, he suddenly has nothing to distinguish him from the masses. he's not "the best" at this. but Shigeo... "Mob" is just like everyone else. or rather, his goal is to be able to relate to other people. he's literally okay with being a generic face in the crowd. and if he's going to be special for any reason, it'll be because he worked hard at something, just like anyone else would have to. that's why he joined the body improvement club, not the telepathy club. in this show, everything ties back into everything else... it all matters.

A little more context for his powers at 100%... His power at 100% and its manifestation depend on what emotion he feels at that moment. I think we've seen him 2 times now at 100%. The first one was when he was rageful, it manifested as a torrent of simple overwhelming power. This time, it's sadness, and it manifested as a power to revert his damage (you can also think that it was symbolic with his sadness over his feeling of inability to change since the accident when he was a kid)

I love how much you're reading into this show cuz it calls for that level of attention. Like how all of Teru's friends immediately abandoned him, but the Body Improvement Club went to check on Mob, it so perfectly demonstrates Mob's point of psychic powers aren't everything and there's more to life than having them. This episode is really a shining microcosm of what Mob Psycho 100's real story is about.

I really hope that, when you're watching these episodes, you're continuing to watch the OP and ED with each episode. I understand you don't record that part... that's fine. but this show is one of those ones where both the OP and ED are important to have bookending the events of the episode each time. it's part of how the show is designed, because with each episode you watch, more of the symbolism in the OP makes sense. and with the ED, there's a repeated sentiment that I think is important to come back to, no matter what happens in the episode itself. a lot of anime are structured like this, and in this one, I think it's especially important.

Yes, This series is a Masterpiece. You know, it's the perfect showcase of Adolescence. Like how we face so much emotion at that time, that we don't even know and can't express it clearly. Mob is just the same but with Pyschic Powers, he can have literally everything and can do whatever he wants but, he is just a boy who got into adolescence who has more problems expressing his emotions than usual boys. The setting of the show was so interesting that it hooked me on the first episode. It hit me too hard. And, one thing, I also watched this series after One Punch Man just like you, knowing it's the same author and finding out that Studio Bones made it.

Every time Mob hits 100%, it’s not just max power, it’s an emotion that’s that’s been pushed to a point where it can no longer be held back. The first time was 100% rage, and after he regains consciousness from the ???% incident, it’s 100% sadness because he broke the promise he made himself. So as he builds up again in the future, try to pay attention to which emotion is being pushed.

here's my paragraph- I consider ONE to be the best mangaka to come out in 2010. Dude took 2 of the most popular shonen genres and dropped them in their heads to make something which is generic idea yet the most unique execution(he's working on the 3rd genre)...OPM is a satirical take on "normal guy works hard to become super strong and saviour of everyone". Saitama worked hard to become immeasurable strong but we didn’t see his journey and he's bored with such immense power which is a punch to 90% of shonen MC. Mob is born powerful yet he's a socially awkward kid who's learning to improve his social status by not using his power but by interacting with others and learning, this has NEVER been done before. Also this episode hits different for people who watched last MP100 s3 episode....

(Not Spoiler)You took it in the wrong way, When Ritsu said "It wasn't Mob", he meant that the personality wasn't Mob's, it was like there's completely different person.

I love how One Punch Man and Mob Psycho are complete opposites. Saitama with immense physical strength that he can't control but little emotion, and Shigeo with Immense Psychic power and too much emotion that he can't control. They are both so wild and different yet they came from such similar concepts.

You should just wait for season 3, it is then the show goes in depth with these emotional and social challenges where it is at most relatable and makes this show a masterpiece from every angle.

The opening of the show already hooked me, but this is really when I noticed hos special the show is, I saw somewhere people saying that One made Mob Psycho to make a manga that felt kind, and i think it was really achieved both by him and everybody that works in the anime. this episode is hilarious, emotional, sad, real, ridiculous and painfully kind.

Binge watching shows is all well and good, but keep in mind that watching an episode at a time give the viewer time to ponder on the episode's content. Imo, this is good for reactors specially. Though mob psycho isn't exactly a show like Mushishi, it still does have really good stuff think on and not just full of mindless action like other shounen.

i've watched a shit ton of animes and still mob psycho is one of the most unique ones out there, the animation alone is beautiful and with the characters and the realistic struggles they face it really makes it something special

Hey Nicholas thank you for reacting to MP100, besides the story, animation and great writing. I believe that what sets it apart from the rest is the NARRATOR... Not many animes have a narrator and it adds so much depth to the episodes. I'm glad you're enjoying it

Anime has many genres There are a lot of animes out there, some are just legendary and some are not as legendary as the other ones. I love anime, I watched many, but Mob Psycho 100 just hits different. A lot of comedy, but also special/emotional moments you can relate to. I feel like Shigeo would be my best friend if I ever knew him.

A lot of people that dont pay a lot of attention dont realize that the 100% moment (sadness) was him actually releasing 100% and reconstructing the school (that he had just destroyed). MP100 is really different from everything else and it has something that One Punch Man is completely missing...Depth and emotional impact. I have gone through every emotion watching Mob and that alone makes it one of my top 2 Anime. I was kind of spamming you to watch Mob asap for a long time. I almost feel a sense of happiness, when people watch Mob Psycho 100. The world would be a better place if everyone would watch it. I also love that there are a lot of "peak" moments like this episode in every season. And also, it is extremely funny some times.
