11:30 Been awhile since I saw this, but to answer where Carol got the pills, they were actually Doris' pills. Jessica noticed them when she met with Doris in the office, and later Elliott took them and grabbed Carol to drug her with them to stage her committing suicide. Jessica and co. arrived in time to save her life. I actually love this bonkers episode. Definitely feels like a sweeps episode though.

Plus, the first couple of scenes with Carol at the tennis event establish her as woman doing her job very well and not standing for any guff from the arrogant male athletes. I was like, wow, you really did learn something from Jessica Fletcher when you were her student. Now, obviously, seeing her car blow up with the guy she was dating in it would be traumatic for most people, but somehow she seemed almost too stable for this plot at the beginning.
@mewdreamer

The strangest moment for me was realizing that the car explosion was actually from this episode. Elliot's confession makes the whole thing weirder. We are told early on that his wife, Doris' mother, is deceased, and that Doris is his daughter and that she has reason to resent Carol. But Elliot has spent most of the episode acting like he likes Carol better than Doris. And he was kind of coming on to Jessica early on - and you might think a guy who liked Jessica Fletcher would cooperate with her against a murderer. (Since that was before any crime happened, it doesn't seem like it had ulterior motives, i.e., like it was a ploy to distract Jessica - unless he knew that early on what Doris was planning?)

Wonder why the actress who was the murderer didn't have the confrontation with Jessica? Seems really weird to have someone else do the confessing for her. Maybe the actress suddenly dropped out and couldn't film the scene? Maybe she couldn't carry the scene and the director got someone else to do it? Weird.

The most amusing part about Linda Hamilton supposedly having an evil sister is that she has a twin sister (who acted as her double in T2). So...they could have actually gone with an Evil Barbara plot.

They only would've needed her twin if there was a scene with both of them (like for T2). Such as, I suppose, if the evil twin tried to directly murder the good one, like we see her sneaking up on her with a knife, and up to this point we had no idea that Carol wasn't always Carol or that her supposedly dead sister was identical. Could've been pretty neat.

I feel like this episode really did want to go with the “psycho” ish plot but at some point someone decided they didn’t want Linda to be the killer and just kinda hand way the ending that it was the dudes daughter lol. Even when Jess is talking to her at the end and says “you’ll be with each other for a long time” almost sounds like Jess is comforting her before they take her to a mental hospital or something...just a theory lol

I didn't grow up watching these, I just knew it was on tv, but after watching a few of your commentaries I recorded the series on the Hallmark Murders and Mysteries channel. I only did it for a month, but that was because I was getting 28 episodes a week and couldn't keep up. Needless to say, I'm going to check Prime or Hulu to see if they carry it because I really did start to love the series, especially the Cabot Cove episodes (you're right that those are the best by far). I hope that 'Murder She Wrote' is throwing some cash your way for getting new people addicted to the series. Thanks for your hilarious commentaries!

Fantastic as always. Glad to see you're still making these. One I might suggest you look at is the one where we actually follow a former student of Jessica's, Maggie, who is the writer behind a successful cop show called Beat Cop and hates it, but none of her other ideas are getting picked up. Then a studio exec threatens to stop the show even though its the studio's most popular one and ends up getting murdered for it.

Thank you for yet another MSW epp. I love hearing you speak of murder she wrote with such fondness. It was my favourite show in primary school - and I still love them all more than words! I liked this epp - so many twists and turns, unusual story line. As long as the characters are introduced in a show at some point they are fair pickings to be the murderer as far as im concerned. Definately didnt see the detective turning up dead comming. The ability to change ur name etc is always a good one, harder to do in this day and age with web searches etc, its a classic are people who they say they are (agatha christie does it quite a bit), that whole Idea always gets my brain cogs turning at the possibilities. I like that they used that concept in a different way - was linda reynolds character crazy, was someone impersonating the sister, was it a frame job, then bam she is acutally alive but no one else knows except the main character....thats new 🤯. Thanks for the upload 😁
