In theory, something like this could be useful for times you go long periods of standing/walking where carrying and/or deploying a more conventional folding chair is not feasible. Giving you a quick, hands free way to have a seat and take some of the weight off your legs/feet. In practice, it doesn't seem like it's low budget design is doing it much favours. Between the durability of the actual frame and the quality and usefulness of the straps, it doesn't seem like it would be particularly long-lasting. I think a more expensive but higher quality variant could work well, with an aluminium frame and better harness. It wouldn't replace a good folding chair for when you have the capacity to carry one, but it'd be great for scenarios where you couldn't use one.

Good as a prototype, but needs a lot of refinement. First and foremost, it needs to be either aluminum or carbon fiber, not PLA or whatever chintzy Temu plastic it is. Second, it needs to do away with the wobbliness, probably just by making the joints more snug and precise. Finally, it needs to have a better strap systtem so that it fits better and also has quick-releases shackles so you can get into a camode or vehicle a lot more easily. As a bonus, the butt-cushion needs to be larger and more flexibile on the top portion, and after ALL of that, it might be servicable.

I feel like one of these with higher quality materials could be useful for the right kind of person. But realistically, it would have to be far better, far more expensive, and essentially prescription-grade, where people would be able to get them via medical coverage, and would be used for people recovering from injuries, or other situations where they should be out walking more, but also would have a need to rest frequently, and for whom carrying something like some of the other portable seat options might be difficult. Honestly, though, I see it as a very niche idea, that would more likely be a part of full-fat exoskeleton legs used for mobility, which are likely to find their way to consumer-level in the relatively not-too-distant future, as it's already being developed and used in military and medical uses, so the chances are it will eventually find it's way down to consumer level, once the costs become reasonable.

Is this meant to help someone with physical issues (someone who has trouble squatting, or maybe can't kneel), or do you have to be in really good shape to use it? In other words, does it require a lot of core strength, and excellent leg muscle control, to stay balanced while 'sitting'? I also think one would want to naturally have their feet further out in front of them.

I was hit by a drunk driver years ago while riding a motorcycle across town to trailer it for a trip to an out of town dirt bike race / competition. .. ...I obviously survived but had about as many injuries as a human can receive and still live. I was told most with similar injuries didn't make it. After decades of surgeries I'm still happy to be here but often wish there were more progressive advancements in prosthetics and mobility aids. I'm not ready to buy that thing as it is but I see tremendous potential for the future for people like me. I can see this why fellow wouldn't appreciate the apparent awkward shortcomings but those with serious impairments would gladly put up with a little "clunkiness" if it would allow us more freedoms. . I think the concept has tremendous merit. The real challenge (and what I think is the main reason for this one's imperfections) will be in designing a sturdy, reliable product like this that is still marketable to those who don't have unlimited finances. It's more likely that an expensive, technically refined interpretation of this could be accepted for use for the handicapped / disabled and become eligible for coverage by medical insurance. I think you can be sure someone, if not the original builder will come along to take this concept to the next level and so on until the idea is a more dependable accessory. I'd also bet the first to do so with creative aids like this will become independently wealthy. I hope I'll be around to enjoy them when the time comes.

Can you bend over and pick up something off the ground when wearing it? What if you fall backwards when sitting down -- Do you stand right back up safely before hitting the ground? The only application I could see for this is Disneyland, but then you have to remove it before getting on a ride.

Maybe you're testing the walkability of this more than it's designed for. I would imagine it shines in workshop or studio settings where you're not walking more than 10 to 20 steps in any direction before grabbing something and bringing it back over to a desk space. I think the biggest issue that I can imagine is if you were to sit at a desk how do you slide your legs underneath so that the tabletop is close..?

I remember that other little chair thing you did quite a while ago. It was good.

In all fairness, you did get the Temu version, so figure you're only getting maybe 50% of the quality and value if you're lucky.

What would eve be a use case for this. There are all sorts of lightweight portable chairs that you can sling over your shoulder that would work better.

The only scenarios where i can see it being useful is at conventions or wherever you plan to stand for an hour or more in line for something and you don't want to sit on the floor.

Might be handy if you’re standing in line to get tickets for Taylor Swift concert but then you’ve got much bigger problems to take care of if you’re blowing money on that!!

When you're walking around with that thing on, it sounds like you're King Arthur being trailed by Patsy! 🤣

I think it would be cool if a professional dance troupe figured out a way to use these things for a routine. But I imagine they'd probably have to make better ones out of some kind of light weight metal. They could do a large group routine where they get into different formations, similar to how marching bands sometimes march in formation. People would sit or stand in different places to make different shapes. They could paint the device all kinds of different colors and put LEDs on it. Or maybe they could figure out how to modify it to make it look like they have extra legs, or make themselves look like different animals. That's what I immediately thought of when I clicked on this video.

I wonder if the non-Temu version would be built a little better.

I feel like the connection strap between the waist and the thigh ones/seat area were super loose when you tried it at the park which is probably why the thigh straps were falling down. There was like four or 5 inches of slack in there.

There's a Prime series, Jury Duty, and one juror is an inventor who shows up to court wearing a portable seat he made with crutches strapped to his rear & works similar to this. He called it chants (crutches + pants). I wonder if the writers got the idea ftom this.😊
