I've never played the Witcher. Can someone give more details about why the sidequests are better? imho, sidequests should be either getting powerful stuff through difficult challenges or going in depth into the lore to understand the world better and get more sense of immersion. Combination of both is the best.
@xMawkKnightx5 ай бұрын
@@amidaobscuraWhile you do get good items in the witcher via side quests, they're more interesting because they act as more mini stories. Some go deeper into the lore while others are just really good side stories. Some last a while, too. But yeah, they're mostly known for their well written stories.
@roxal135 ай бұрын
some sidequest can influence the main story as well, as the sidequest can have multiple endings, that can change the outcome of a character, they probably won't get that far, but the witcher is good for having every important sidequest feel unique and important, that sometimes you don't even realize that they are optional@@amidaobscura

Watching this has made me think of something. That moment when I finish part 3 of the story for the first time, that will be one of them moments like, having your first child or getting married, I’ll think of it on my death bed and smile with a tear in my eye. My child hood game that I got into on a win in 1997 after reading games master magazine and rating it 9/10, I was 9 in 1997, a bit young to play the game to it full extent. The game had me hooked for years I never finished the game until I was in my early teens (thanks to the official guide book) The original is responsible for a whole ps1 memory card with a total of 600+hours at least and that’s being modest. I did wonder as a child playing the game with the cgi moments in the game if it would ever be remade when I’m in my 30’s or 40’s and “squaresoft” only gone and bloody done it!!!! I wonder. Maybe even more because they would have to duplicate so much Data if the Game would be on so many Cartridges. Then again they already did so with CD/DVD back then without HDDs. I was never expecting save transfers as the games release, but I do hope some day they release a package that seamlessly weaves all 3 games together, and re-calibrates everything into one continuous progression system. Also, I have always found it interesting that FF6 has never gotten a 3D remake, when 3, 4, 5, and now 7 have. Seeing his love for FF6, I wonder if they're thinking about a big budget remake. This team is very successful so there must be some idea on what to do after part 3. Advent Children the game? A totally fresh FF7 sequel? FF XVIII? If not, do you look to other PS1 titles like FF8 or 9? I think there is an argument to be made for FF6 Remake being their next project. It has arguably the best glow up potential in its sound track. It's often praised as one of the heights of the franchise, and of the platform it was on. It has the biggest cast. Imagine if they gave it a story, plot, and script glow up like they did for FF7. It would be a massive 2-map open world adventure. Perhaps in 2 parts.

I feel like you could have all of your save data carry over (items, materia, equipment, etc.) without ruining the feeling of Rebirth. The only thing that would affect it would be the level you transfer with, but that can immediately be scaled upon recognition of carried over data. It could be enabled in the settings menu before starting the game or make it function only on medium or higher difficulties. If you're playing the game on easy, your either a new player or just playing to enjoy the story, in which case neither is affected by save data or being a higher level. If you've completed the game, it starts you are level 10 or 15 instead of level 1. Additionally, the enemy levels/difficulty would scale with that as well. Enemies could have levels just like the player. Each area can be labeled as a "zone", and each zone can have enemies within a certain threshold of levels/difficulty. The starting area would remain low level (1-5) and the surrounding zones would be a higher level (5-10); additionally, the zones further from the starting area would be higher. With save data, the starting zone remains the same to let the player get back into the combat system and learn new mechanics that would be implemented, but the zone would immediately adjust to a higher difficulty. So if you player starts with save data and is given the "completion level" of 10, the first zone will be level 1-5 enemies, and the surrounding areas will spawn enemies at level 10-15 to maintain some level of difficulty but giving the player the overall edge since they would have strong equipment and items to carry them through it.

I think aerith will die in the forgotten city... with cloud and the gang. BUT When aerith dies her subconscious transfers to the aerith with zombie cloud and zack and she opens her eyes at the end of rebirth. The third title will be called Final Fantasy Revive.

Oh boy. Harry Potter reference. That's not basic as all hell or anything. When they were handing out imaginations, did you just sleep in or something?

We’ve been spoiled by the max rebirth videos. Soon we’ll have the game and be waiting for the part 3 theories. Then the cycle loops back around again

The Witcher 3 comment has me stoked! I loved the side quests in that game. Even if they don't reach the same level of quality, anything is better than the side content we got in XVI.

26:25 He's asking this question jokingly, but it looks like Hamaguchi didn't understand that he didn't literally mean "safer". It's just my guess but I'm thinking Sephiroth's final form better translates to "Seraph" Sephiroth, and Hamaguchi didn't know it's named Safer in the English translation?

It was. The interviewer was an idiot who has no idea about language. He probably just asked all his stupid questions to an unseen interpreter who they cut.

Witcher 3 basically has three tiers of quests, main quests, side quests and 'witcher contracts' aka monster hunts. It stands out because the side quests are good enough to be main quests in most games and even the monster hunts, which could easily have just been FF quality 'go and kill 3 bugs'. are well written and contain mysteries, detective work, plot twists etc. They really set a very high bar for Open World RPG sidequests on that game, but it is hopeful that they cited that as inspiration to do better.

The only thing from Witcher 3 I don't need is tracking down random materials to upgrade your armor. Because the completionist in me could not resist doing that, even for armor I would never use. I loved everything else in that game.

How funny would've been if Hamaguchi had brought a gucci shirt for this interview... Also, we got confirmation in this interview that Wedge is in fact alive (which it was never confirmed in Remake) So thanks for the spoiler interviewer 🥲👍

After finally beating the game I hope one day developers say "We wanted side quests like BG3" . I think the Witcher's 3 side quests are fantastic, but after BG3, I think that should be the new standard.

I heard Amaguchi said he got inspiration from Horizon Forbidden West regarding the side quests, but I don’t remember him mentioning The Witcher 3 But the world and the side quests are also fantastic in Forbidden West imo, so I’m glad either way

So the FF7R is basically like Scott pilgrim takes off. Where's it's technically a sequel. So, the original events need to happen for the new stuff to take place.
