In despair, Hayao Miyazaki considered turning to mangaka. Originally, when he was young, he was unsure whether to become a mangaka or an animator. Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind was serialized in the anime magazine Animage, and later made into a successful animated movie, and the staff at that time went on to create what later became Studio Ghibli. Hayao Miyazaki had considered a huge brawl in the final scene of the anime film, where the Giant God Warrior throw Ohmus, but the budget was short and the release date was fast approaching, so he had no choice but to choose that ending. The anime version has Joe Hisaishi's music and is very impressive, but the original manga is a much more long and epic story.

Fair points about what you said about Neko, However, while she is more Cat-Like rather than being a straight up Cat-Girl, with her name being Nekoyamada Neko while Nokotan’s name is Shikanoko Noko, I can’t help but to view Noko and Neko as sort of being the counterparts to each other in this Series, due to how similar their Naming-schemes are to one another, Now, as to why a Cat would be a counterpart to a Deer? You’re answer would be as good as mine, perhaps it would be due to how similar they sound like in Japanese, but that’s just the vibe I have been getting from these two, simply due to how no other Character so far seems to have a similar naming scheme to them(that is, unless they do and i just have never noticed that for whatever reason, if that’s the case, forget this entire Comment).

There are certain types of deer whose females do have antlers. Namely reindeer and caribou. Nokotan is potentially one of those. Also, antlers are the most prominent feature of deer. Kinda difficult to make a noticeably deer girl without them, as other traits are generally shared with similar hooves quadrupeds. And if given deer legs, she’d just look like a satyr instead. Plus this is Nokotan we’re talking about. She can remove her horns at will as well as the top of her head to hold things. She is incredibly strong in the power of gag anime, any sort of logic bends and warps and shatters to pieces in her wake.
