First time I've been able to see these areas. Shocking. Thanks for sharing

That is just astonishing how quickly the waters have receded after being so high. It's surreal. Seeing everything today with the sun shining it's hard to imagine how it looked a week ago. I hope people can recover from this tragedy.

The council need to be held to account. To allow homes in flood zone.

Developers lobby councils to build as well, so documents will show who is liable

Happens Australia wide. Brisbane, NSW coast, and a LOT of new development in both Melbourne and Adelaide outskirts. Brisbane flooded twice in a decade. Try getting insurance on that. I am sure councils have magical out on accountability!

Can tell he’s a fisherman, stretching the story a little 😁. Not all those houses near the servo went under. Just the low ones down closer to the cricket oval. Devastating for all those affected, especially the ones who had no long finished rebuilding from last years flood.

I feel sorry for all the people who have lost all their possession and homes, its wrong that they are allowed to build in flood plains and no insurance company will cover them.

A lot of stuff that gets chucked can be cleaned and she's good as gold but we live in such a disposable society that first instinct today is to chuck it.

That boundary road development was asking for trouble. Pitt Town is a Macquarie town, they rarely flood, the residents fought the development and the council was told but I guess that sweet development money was too tempting. These areas are very fertile because the river floods, why develop excellent (watered) agricultural land close to such a major city? Watch them raise the dam then build on the Richmond lowlands or develop on the university making Hobartville flood.
@ripme66162 жыл бұрын
Such a tragedy mate.. I know they had to open the gates on the dam but if they didn't would there still have been this flood..

I wonder if its a developers plan to build new estates and flood the old so the old houses go for sale and the developers swoop in and build bigger estates.

This is more like the floods of 74, what we all have to keep in mind is that we are not the only ones who live here this land needs floods and fires and is about to explode with new life the environment is not there for decoration.

Sorry I'm commenting as I see things. Devastating seeing everything on the side of the road. It also kills me because most of the furniture I work on is off the side of the road, and this stuff is unusable! what a waste.

Quote " new housing estates didnt get flooed out but the old housing estates did." No sh*t sherlock. And it wasnt as a result of accelerated stormwater... although a small contributing factor, it was a result of the fact that Warragamba was already full as well as a large slow moving rain cell dumping huge amounts. You must be new around here......
@petersajkic67492 жыл бұрын
Where you think all the floodwater from the new housing estates ends up?true the level of warragamba dam hasn't helped but they opened the gates of the dam in 89 too.
