21:49 Small correction, that's not a wavedash. Some people assume that that weird ring trail thing means it's a wavedash, but it can mean a lot of (usually very fast) things. This specifically is a wall bounce, aka just a wall kick / wall jump (whatever you prefer to call it) that is performed while dashing (or otherwise moving) upwards. 24:05 Also, this is a hyperdash. The difference is that when doing a wavedash, you jump up before dashing diagonally into the ground, and getting it right gives you your dash back as you jump off. A hyperdash doesn't have that.

impressive that you did everything legit (except 8A but that's fine) but i do have to say in Steam there are 2 more achievements, beating Farewell and collecting the moon berry, which is going in an alternate path in the final screen of Farewell. Still though, under 8k deaths for a 100% run is pretty damn good.

Yeah I had no idea about the achievement lists being different, but it did seem weird that the achievements didn't deal with chapter 9 at all. I'll do that and golden strawberries (with a twist) in the future.

@@mintmuffledit’s because chapter 9 is actually free dlc that came out years after the rest of the game originally came out. That’s also why chapter 8 feels weird. Ch7 is the end of the main story, and 8 is supposed to be a bonus level after beating the game, but chapter 9’s existence makes 8 feel out of place

It felt mildly appealing to see someone else both struggle and not against the exact same things I did. Something close to a week or maybe a bit more went into playing through this game, constantly streaming it for friends on Discord who gave me encouragement whenever I started to get too into my own head. And after unlocking that platinum trophy, I don't know if I've ever felt more accomplished.

I totally support use of assist mode if you're just not having enough fun to make up for the brutal gameplay. As I've gotten older, I've learned (largely from Celeste's encouragement of Assist Mode and discussions in media) that ultimately, a game's primary purpose is to be fun. If you use Assist Mode in order to improve the gameplay experience for yourself, you're doing it right, even if others opted not to.

I still have 2 achievements left, after beating chapter 9 I have started using assist mode and tutorials to get everything done, I still need to beat the C sides and get all gold strawberries, i have gotten both chapter 1 ones, and found out some weird but cool glitches and text boxes, like in the Mirror Temple chapter B side Theo says something along the lines of, Wait are these canon?, and also talks about how he made the music for the chapter. God I love this game, Im glad I found it on Gamepass

The "wavedash jumps" are actually called hypers, and a wavedash is a hyper in the air, but you regain the dash similar to an extended hyper, where you hold it for longer to have the dash back and jump to still get the momentum

Ngl, im trying to 100% celeste in my free time on the ps4 and it is real hard. Watching you loose your marbles and turn on assist on chapter 8 made me happy cause i considered it so often. I died so much it took me 2 and a half hours but the walkthrough i watched was only 10 minutes. Wild ride. But it makes me glad that while playing celeste feels wild for me it feels that way for you. Because I get mad, but not at celeste. Because it hands you all the tools you need. And once you figure it out, all it is is trying to press the buttons in the right order to succeed. You know what not to do but sometimes your fingers stray a bit and just make it all the more work.

I liked the wind part, i still absolutely despise oshiro and the chapter 5 monsters (even after having finished the story 20+ times), and i found the summit to get really easy for the last 7 checkpoints (i do struggle a bit with 14 and 17 though)

Only 4-digit deaths for every achievement is actually pretty damn good. My first time through level 3, A-side, was 1500 deaths. I have beaten all the A-sides, and some B-sides, but I still got a ways to go.

Sort of. The term comes from Smash Bros. Melee, using airdodging to propel yourself into the ground to gain speed. It's arguable all 3 techniques could use the term, but in the chapter 9 introduction of it, it's specifically done from midair like in melee. It doesn't strictly have to be midair, but it's a good setup that gives you a time buffer that enables you to maintain speed, but regain your dash. The midair setup most closely resembles melee's tech.

Judging by the number of deaths, you struggled WAY less than me with the platforming (I had like 3 to 5 times more deaths than you on everything lmaooo), but I still refuse to turn on assist mode, I pushed through 8A and the collectibles and everything.
