Let me use obasanjo/atiku past administration as yardstick. When atiku was part of obasanjo government, during the end of there second term in government and atiku has the ambition of contesting for the president of nigeria, and because of that he comes out publicly to criticize the government of obasanjo's government, it was a political journalist that put him to order that you cannot be in government and you are ceriticizing that government. The best thing to do first before criticism is to resign or step down from that government first before you will start your criticism. Secondly, look at what happen in lebanon as a yardstick, the way the prime minister and majority of the member of the parliament resign as a result of the beirut bomb. The main priority and objective of any government be it the organs/arms of government is to protect the life and safety of the people, because of that they resign. In africa politics, they will not take a bold step but they will decide to go to the media and be criticising the government thwy are part of.

The running of a Government is the responsibility of everyone that is elected by the voters. The Senator lived in the United States and he is perfectly aware of how the political parties work for the good of the common man. Raising issue on the floor of the Senate is just a show off for most Senators to receive praises from their constituencies. The problems in the country require on hands on the deck regardless of party affiliation. The job of the opposition party is not only to criticize the ruling party all the time but also to seek compromise on issues affecting the country. The Federal Government is not the closest Government to the common man. The States in the Federation are governed by both the APC and PDP Governors, how well are the Governors performing in their respective States to show example as to what should be happening on the Federal level?. Is it the responsibility of the Federal Government to also run the States for the Governors? The Senate and the national Assembly an arm of the government whose functions are clearly detailed out in the constitution and those functions are not based on the political parties. All the Senators, National Assembly members and the Governors receive equal pay and equal benefits in their respective categories and there are never issues between the ruling and opposition parties when it comes to this. The entire Senate and the National Assembly and the Governors level need a complete education and overhaul on how the ruling and the opposition party work together to address the issues and problems affecting the country. There are only two people the common man votes for when it comes to the Presidency, the President and the Vice President, the rest people in the Presidency are by appointment. Therefore, when the Senators, members of the National Assembly and the Governors that are equally voted for sit back and blame the Federal Government for all the problems in the country the entire system has failed the electorates. The running of the country and the well being of the citizens is the responsibility of all elected officials regardless of party affiliations. Politicians should keep to the promises they make to the voters during elections and stop pointing fingers after they get elected.
