As a cookbook author with over six books from N.Y. largest publishers, Alabama for sure produces the best quality oysters in the world. We have sampled them from other countries the east, west, and even our sister southern states and even they know Alabama has developed the best consistent quality for years. I did find one area in south La. that may come close, but I will not disclose the restaurant or location, as they are getting so busy we have to wait sometimes to get the order in. It is kind of like gold, keep some secrets!

Munchies has weed and celebrities... That's the only reason it is more popular. Muchies has its moments but this is a really quality channel with content that has heart. A real foodies place.

***** I remember my first thought when I saw that ep. I was like... "why??... what purpose does this serve?" I love counter-culture, but when it's counter-culture just for the sake of seeming "edgy" or to attract a younger audience. I roll my eyes. AND ITS A FUCKING FOODIE CHANNEL.

The best fucking oysters in the south and I'm from NOLA. If you want to try these bad boys check out Peche or Borgne who both serve a variety of cage/farm raised oysters.

i live in texas and would never eat an oyster from the gulf cause when i go to the coast just the area looks not so good looking, not saying gross, but i wouldnt eat an oyster from the gulf for sure lol, but of course these are farm raised oysters in the gulf in a good location, so i can change my mind willingly.

oysters help clean the water btw.

The water is not "dirty". Oysters are filter feeders, so suspended organic material in the water is good for them. Crystal clear water would starve the oysters.
@jakeellis64966 жыл бұрын
The water is NOT "dirty" many parts of the gulf coast have large quantities of sediment washed in from the various river systems that wash into the sea...sediment does not = dirty.

Oysters feed upon zooplankton and phytoplankton by filtering them from the water. Zooplankton and phytoplankton feed on the nutrient rich effluent water from the upstream watershed. In Alabama the watershed supply to Mobile Bay into the Gulf of Mexico comes from the Tombigbee River system, the Tennessee River system, the Alabama River system, and the Chattahoochie River system. Nutrients that drain from the mountains, forests, and farm lands flow to feed the phytoplankton and zooplankton that the oysters eat by siphoning water through their digestive systems. It's very ecological, and as the video states local oysters bear the unique flavor of their area. The greatest majority of acreage in Alabama is forest land of mixed deciduous trees and conifers. The appearance of dirt in the water, that is the turbidity, is actually the nutrient wealth of phytoplankton and zooplankton that feeds the food chain and seafood breadbasket of the Gulf of Mexico.

Call me crazy but I think it all revolves around money they say oh we got a big family here we got good employees well yes everybody has to eat and pay their bills so basically just revolves around money I guess if I had free oysters I would sell them too if I can make a buck.

How can they legally put those in the gulf no one owns the gulf
@deekang62446 ай бұрын
No one owns the ocean. Yet, fishing. No one owns the forests, yet hunting.
