It's good for me to see serious karateka actually having fun with karate. We need more of this.

I'm reminded of the old Okinawan masters who didnt have the same range of techniques as we see in today's karate but a 'block' was intended to inflict pain on an attacker and the intense conditioning they underwent made that a reality. Not sure how that works in terms of arthritis in later life but they must have been formidable warriors in their day.

I practice Silek Taralak Minangkabau, and movement in 5:35 is exactly our basic move! and at 9:26, it is also how we charge in! This is amazing.. almost 3000 miles apart and yet the striking similarities... Ryukyu Kobudo is very traditional, Silek Taralak is also very traditional, I wonder if there's any read thread here.
Karate Do and Kobudo complement each other from a long time ago in Okinawa, today several Karate Schools practice Kobudo as an important part of their teaching and learning process.

Back in the 50', 60's Kobudo was not taught separate from karate it was just part of the karate training. In later years it was changed by many styles as seperaten training and seperaten ranks from karate. I guess another money stream.

僕は和道家、が僕の和道流この古武道の技非常に似ています! I'm a wadoka, but my wadoryu is pretty similar to this kobudo techniques!
I learned Kata at 16 from my uncle who’s still a master. People put karate down but look at Lyoto Machida in MMA and UFC. Sensei here is using Aikido techniques as well.

I'm actually seeing karate techniques turning into Aikido techniques. This is a very exciting video
its LOVELY how some black belts form other martial arts discover aikido principles xD I love traditional Japanese martial masters they usually respect and value aiki, something very useful and at the same time so difficult to master.
A técnica funciona, repare que há um lançamento do ombro, e posterior defesa do oponente. O segredo está na surpresa do contra ataque. Oss. Beto Silva, ISKF BRAZIL.

Amazing ! He received a blow on his arm with a chudan block but instead the bruise appeared on his right calf on his leg ! Ki power !
@davipinheiroschenkeldoamar4216 Жыл бұрын
Sorry to tell you but there is nothing about ki power in it, if you pay close attention to his legs you will se that at the moment he blocks e also drives his front knee to the opponents calf or joint , causing them to lose their balance

Would you tell me, what is the essence of actual martial arts (include kobudo of Ryukyu & Japan)?
si quieres algo parecido a lo que él hace, busca Shorin-ryu, goju-ryu o uechi-ryu (el tercero es casi imposible de encontrar fuera de Okinawa), si haces otro estilo te vas a decepcionar mucho de lo poco que te enseñan
